May 3, 2003 - Magic Eastern Cruisers

Ohhh, Andy, now you know I have a shrimp allergy.......(crossed fingers)....

Jessie - dear friend, dear new friend, dear new best, BEST friend, how are you my little dumpling?! (tee hee hee)...

Seriously, I tried the 3 night cruise (nassau) once to see if I'd get sick or not and how DH and DS (5 at the time) would like it. They both wanted more and I wasn't sick. We have since done 2 of the 7 night cruises and then at Christmas did another land sea, this time a 4 night cruise (Nassau and Freeport).

General concensus from DH and DS - Stick with 7 night cruises, forget WDW. I didn't think the 4 night was restful enough and missed out on the days at sea. It's a wonderful feeling to stand at the rail and look out at the vast ocean. Just wonderful to have so much time on your hands and so much to do if you want to do it, that you can stay happy for the whole time!

My ultimate vacation will be the 7 night Western and 7 night Eastern combined for a 14 night cruise. Now that will be heaven!

And so my little chick-a-dee, just remember sit near the short, fat lady and smile....

Rae,

I'm not touching that line up above with a "50" foot poll, no way Jose.

Andy

Andy - you know what my vision of heaven is?

It's a place where I can get any body I want....I want to be a tall, thin, flat chested, black woman who is bald. (Think Grace Jones in Conan).

YUP - that's about as far away from reality as I can get!!

Rae

If you catch me without a smile on my face it may be because I am sick! Please rush some anti sea sickness drugs down my throat and I will be ok...

I've had major stomach surgery for GERD (due to NASAID use), so I just dry heaves very severely. My surgeon recommended the sea bands and they seem to work well. I also have Bonine, over the counter and non-drowsy ----and if I do get sick, phenegran for it. Can't tell you how many people will get too much sun, too much booze, then with a little food in their stomach, get very, very sick....

just don't over do it!!! And remember if you are prone to sickness, don't walk looking at the front of the ship...it goes up and down....up and down...up and......

well, you get the idea!

Hey flsuperhawk, that Peter Pan lady was me. I truly hope I never grow up and stop having all this fun. A short story: on one of our early trips to WDW we had dinner upstairs in the castle. The "kid" in me had to take pix of my three kids in front of the man of armour and sitting at the table, etc. They were not too amenable to it and sort of embarrassed. Well the waitress came over, seeing their dismay, and said" Walt Disney would have just loved you, this is why he wanted to build a place like this, for the young AND the young at heart, for people like you and your mom to come and enjoy themselves" She made my day and I've never forgotten those words, "Walt Disney would have loved you"!!

See y'all Sat. and let's never forget the fact that "it all started with a mouse" :earsboy:

But I have been told once or twice I'd missed the boat!
:p

Alien Green?? After much hemming and hawing at the Home Depot, include intense consultation with the DH, I decided 'sonic boom', was definitely lime -- so hope we'll still be allowed in the club with a mouse of a different colour!

We're all packed -- and MORE than ready for the cruise. I've added some pictures of what we woke up to this morning. Just for reference (and so you don't think that it really does do nothing but snow up in the great white north), I spend yesterday afternoon fertilizing my perrenials.

Talent show? Oh no, can't do that. Seems like the potential for a new example of things that are very, very hard to say or do when you're drunk -- for example, one of the things that's almost impossible to say when you're drunk: "Karaoke? Oh no, no one wants to hear me sing" :jester:

Gotta go now, and shovel the walks -- and laugh at the neighbours -- who as Jeanne would say, AREN'T going on a Disney cruise in five days, or to Florida in TWO!!

We picked up a few extra Alien Green...if there is a dispute about the color I would be glad to share!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Hello all!!!!

I have been gone too long according to the 500 posts I had to read just to catch up!!! (her head drops to one side as she develops a poor-pitiful-me look...) I have been ironing........... (and the crowd says "AAAWWWWW, POOR THING!") But we are all sized, shopped for and ready to drag down the suit cases.... (and the crowd goes wild!!!!!!!!!!)

flsuperhawk,

Hello & welcome!!! We are Barbara, Doug, Chelsea & Shelby. And glad to have you in our little ole wine drinking group!!!;)

We did in fact have our DD then 2&1/2 in Flounders last cruise and just loved it!!! The cruise itself have a few hurdels, but Flounders was one of the shinning stars!!! The counselors were just great...... Never walked into the place when there weren't at least 3-4 sitting on the floor with the kids---- anyone remaining had one on a hip and one in hand...... They were just really great!!! Feel free to e-mail me with any specifics...

Jeanne,

I am not quite finished with my ironing...... Could you send me a seperate post on how you did each peice??? :p :p ;)
And no this would not be shameless posting...... just helping a fellow ironer.....
:jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: :jester:

We here are just about to dance right out of our skins..... DH has been shopping at least 4 times last week (this never happens!!!)... Seems his tropical print shirt collection needed some boosting:rolleyes: :)
DD10 is getting school stuff wrapped up and conversing with new cruise friends...... Chelsea says "HI!" to Amanda & Alison...
DD4 has been in a flurry looking for her black dress shoes (I hid them:p .... She was wearing them to jump on the trampoline!!) And packing every stuffed Disney character she has.... Can you imagine a steamer trunk??

And me??? Well, here I sit trying to avoid the ironing........

I also have a few sewing projects and a shirt project on the computer. Let me say that if any of you see us at the port..... You WILL KNOW IT IS US!!! :) :) :)

Can't wait to meet all of "Yall";) at the hotel...... at the port...... at the lounge meeting........ and especially at the WALT SUITE!!!!

Hope to be back on the boards between now and Thurs.. We leave Thurs. after DD10's play day at school.....

Oh, well back to the ironing..... unless anyone wants to chat with me for a few hours??? I mean the stuff is just going to get wrinkled in the suit case..... RIGHT?!?!?! Sorry, I'll behave now....... BYE,:(

Barbara

Barbara,
We are thrilled to be part of your wine drinking crew!!
Great to hear words of encouragement about Flounders. We usually get an in room babysitter for the kids, but without one available I will be just as happy if they are as attentive as you say.
Oh boy, I feel a dance comming....

flsuperhawk,

Just a little FYI....... Sign up for all the times you know you will need ASAP...... they do tend to fill up........ We blocked out the excursion times first and then went back for the other on board activities we wanted.

They did tell us at first that we could only have a certain number(?) of 'guaranteed' spots, but we got the sitting every time we needed it. Just call and get on the list as early as possible.... I think it was 48 hrs prior (not to include the guaranteed spots) on the last cruise in '01.

I know from reading various posts that some of the rules have changed, but I would make Flounder's one of my first stops. There was actually a line of people waiting when we got there last time!!

Also... unless this has changed.... you are charged for the sitting hours unless you cancell by a certian time.... not sure how far out... but be sure to check this out! We never got charged for time we did not use, but the head CM (Has since left to start her own family) for Flounder's did not charge unless she could not fill your babie's spot.... Which was not a problem on our last cruise as it was totally booked! You may be in luck as I have heard that our sailing is not full... It could be a breeze for yall. We had a full ship and still got everything we wanted!

Looking forward to meeting you..... will have to get the little ones together at the Mickey pool. Our DDs are 10 & 4 now.

Barbara

Whew- a busy day for me and still miles to go before I rest as they say. Started the day at church- I teach the five year olds Sunday School and I think they were still hopped up on Easter candy! Yikes! While there a friend asked me to teach the teens early morning Bible Study class tomorrow- thats at 6 am folks- ew....! And since they know way more then me to start with that means I have to study for it- yikes!
After church Auntie Bon and I....hey wait...
I need posts-
hehehe
tell ya later!

The Wino Cruise!

That's our name!!!!! I had another one but that's our little secret for now, but I do like the Wino Cruise!

The toughest night is the first night when we cross the Gulf Stream - at least that's what I've heard. Heck, it's just so exciting!!!!

The thing I miss the most about the ship is the "rocking" to sleep at night. That gives me goosebumps just thinking about it!!!!

Jeanne - you are nearly there!!!!

Rae

(okay- the counter is rising- I think I got gypped last night tho- thats not right where do I file a complaint?!)
So Auntie Bon and I went to Massachusetts winery. HMMMMM- we are NOT wine drinkers- no nothing cept for the fact it makes me flushed and silly and giddy. I do know when something pleases my palate though so I figured that a wine tasting was the way to go- at least I would know what I was bringing tasted like. Hopefully avoid the horrendous.
We tasted five wines- some better then others. It was a very small home farm- with dirty faced kids joining us for the tasting- it was nice and homey. Even Obidiah himself was there overseeing the room in the silent, solemn manner of a New England farmer. A sturdy and weathered man= reminded me of my Dad. The daughter was helping us choose what to taste whilt the grandmother prepared and set out snacks and fed the three lovely little farm girls. We sampled the farm speciality- rather dry for my liking and besides I had my eye on the sweeter fruit wines. (perhaps a hold over from my Boones Farms Days!lol)
I tasted some oak aged apple wine- very strong, whiskey tasting. Not my cup of tea but I did find it interesting.
The high light of the event was the strawberry wine!! Oh my- it is delicious. So fruity and tasty and just remembering it makes my mouth water. What is that song about strawberry wine???
Also tried the blackberry- oh yum! Bonnies favorite. Sweet and dark and juicy!
Well after a few sips- okay- maybe more then a few- and no we did NOT spit in between- we were stuck on what to bring for the wine tasting.
I wanted something apple- apples are so New England. So we had to try a couple of the apple wines too. Settled on one for the cruise. I hope that you all enjoy it. It was hard work deciding on what to share.
Deciding what NOT to share was easier...hehehe:p We bought a small bottle of the blackberry and a bottle of the strawberry for our room!!!!!
Now if you are nice enough and smile big enough perhaps we will share a taste with you! Actually, the strawberry is so yummy that I just may have to bring it to the party to share and show it off!
So today I learned...
1. Massachusetts does have wine makers. This farm makes about 300 bottles a year.
2. Some of it is better then others.
3. I'd probably be just as happy with something sweet and cheap like Mogen David or something!
But it was fun and I had a great time! Love that sis of mine!

Hey rae- DD Carolyn is trying to decide on the talent show- she is very talented!! She has been trying out songs all week but is still non committal! I'll let you know. What are you thinking of doing?
Would be fun if we all did something together maybe???!
