Our dear mascot, Andy alias Verandahman alias Shrimp Thief will turn 48 on April 20 - Easter Sunday!
May I be the first to wish you a very Happy Birthday my dear friend and fellow shrimp thief!

May you always accept the challenges so that you may feel the exhilaration of victory (George S. Patton).

And for those interested, Andy and his family and ours are planning an April 2005 7 night Cruise so that we can turn "50" together in the company of family, friends and shrimp! Please consider joining us for that cruise!!

Rae

The dates for that cruise are April 16-23, 2005 and thank you Rae for the Birthday Wishes, and thanks to Jeanne434, for sending me a copy of the Travel Channel broadcast of Tuesday nights DCL episode, I will be hunting down the mailman each day until it arrives!!!

;) Don't think we will be able to join you on your next B-day cruise. We have tentatively made plans to book another cruise for week before Thanksgiving 2004 with some friends not joining us on this one. All this depends on how we make out on this one with the kids, and they love it as we expect them to.

Happy Birthday Verandah Man and catch you some future cruise I'm sure.

when can we start booking that cruise for 2005. I would love to join you all. And you can have my share of the shrimp, as I don't eat shrimp. It sounds like lots of fun.

Don't hold me too this, but I think I read you can book 18 months out, maybe someone else knows for sure. I know Rae is going to try and see about booking the April 2005 cruise while she is on her May 3rd. I'm sure Rae will let us know when she gets back.

DH called just last week and asked about booking our 2-week back to back for end of Sept./Oct. of 2005. We were told we could not book untill this Sept. and they could not give us a date as to when the bookings will start. If that holds true, then you should be able to book 2 yrs out......... or it may be that only certain seasons can be booked that far out.
Anyway, DH has Sept. marked on several of his many calendars so he can be the first call and get us just the room we want for the whole 2 weeks...... Now if only jobs, kids, schools, the economy and the fates cooperate...... we're set!!!
We will also call back between now and then..... just to see if we can sneak in a booking....... Wonder if early booking discounts will be better 2 yrs out??? Like maybe a two-for-one special??? Oh....... sorry ....... just day dreaming out loud!!! HAHAHAHA

Barbara

I am definitely putting in for that week in April 2005 when I get on the ship.

On the other thread (Halloween cruise) that I'm "listmaster" for; the suggestion to get the lime green Mickey paint sample to wear as a name tag was made.

Seems like a good idea for us to have something to identify ourselves - because once we leave the Promenade Lounge we will be the small fish in the big ocean of other guests! That is until we meet on Monday!

If anyone has any suggestions, ideas, just in here!!!

Rae

OK....just finalized our stay at the Raddison Friday night before the cruise....looks like we'll be searching ya'll out by the pool. We're driving in from St. Louis...so hopefully we'll make it in early enough in the afternoon!

I've told my 9 yo DD about all the girls her age going....and she can't wait!:bounce:

Cupig,
I'm sure the girls will be on the look out for her!! Chelsea is so excited about the night before in the hotel!!?? I was concerned because we are usually at WDW or in late prior to a sailing and there is no "wait" time...... But she is thrilled at the prospect of a night time swim with her new friends!

BTW, DD4 (Shelby) has been asking about her new friends...... Any 3-5 yr olds at the radisson the night before??

Barbara

I really envy all of you who are coming in on Friday and staying at the Radisson!!!! Wish we had thought of that before buying our tickets!

Oh well, we will be with you soon enough!

Can you believe that we have two weeks left?! Just too exciting!

We changed our flight from Saturday morning to Friday afternoon for our cruise in August, we will also be staying at the Radisson the night before. We have a DISmeet planned for around the pool with a group of our cruisers for Friday evening. Something to think about for our April 2005 cruise Rae, my family will probably do the same thing then as well!!!

We will be staying at the Hilton DTD for 6 nights prior to our cruise but will be dropping off our car at AVIS at the Raddison and taking the shuttle to the port. Maybe we will see some of you then? My son Joseph (5) and my Daughter Alicia (3) would love to swim in that neet waterfall pool there (if we don't get in trouble) and we have enough time before we board. We will be there around 11:30 AM to drop off our car.

I was thinking it might be more fun for them instead of waiting in that LONG line to board the ship..? :D Any thougths?

We already have reservations prepaid (no refund) for Coco Beach Hilton on Saturday the 11th. Our flight does not leave till Sunday at 5:00 PM.

Okay now hold on.... hey Rae- I thought we had decided on lime green Mickey Mouse paint samples from home depot???? My DD's boyfriend got them for us last week....Where did I get this idea from?? Hmmm- must be psychic or something...
Okay- I OFFICIALLY PROPOSE THAT ALL MAY 3 DIS'ERS ATTEMPT TO GET LIME GREEN MICKEY PAINT SAMPLES FROM HOME DEPOT SO THAT WE MAY BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY OURSELVES TO EACH OTHER!!! lol Now it's official! lol
Seriously tho- from another thread somewhere I read that the person had some advice- bring a hole puncher so that you can punch holes in both your "key" and your lime green mickey head and lanyard them together for the week. She described how much fun it was to spot them through out the week - like a friendly lime green face in a crowd of strangers! So today I wrote our names on the mickey heads with perm. marker and laminated them so they last thru the week, then hole punched them to get them ready to go. You'll all be able to spot us! Make sure to say " Hi there fellow Dis'er!"
Can you believe it is just about two weeks!!!! Call me breathless with anticipation!

PS- do you think someone ought to explain to Home Depot that they do NOT have to order extra of the lime green paint that there seems to be such a sudden interest in?  :D

Jeanne434...
My thoughts exactly. I have been to Home Depot a couple of times for the lime green Mickey tags. Makaroni5 and I also took an assortment of colors to put on our luggage.
I have to sneak them into my pocket for fear that they have me on a security camera "lifting" all of their paint samples!!!:p

I went yesterday to the Home Depo in my neighborhood.......
NO LIME GREEN PAINT CHIPS!!!!!

I wanted to leave a note for all the other DISers......... It must be some of us...... Right!?!?!?!?

Are any of you out there??? Hwy 377 -- Golden Triangle area???

Seriously, I laughed out loud just to think that there were probably other people right in my neighborhood skulking around all the Home Depos in our area to find the.....
Elusive Lime Green Mickey!!

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

I do like the idea of punching the hole. I have always had the fear of reaching into my little plastic pocket and realizing I forgot to put the card back in!!! And the fact is...... If I can't charge it on that KTTW card........ I don't need it!!!

So it will be me-- accesssorized with my card, chapstick and limegreen mickey head roaming the Magic in....... TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!

Barbara

Hi!

Annie is eating and doing better but she's been limping and holding her right hind leg up when she stands. So what does Mama Rae do - call the vet! She has an old injury that dislocated her femur from her hip socket and it's calcified - so when he spays her and cleans her teeth, he is going to fix her hip also.

Poor dear little dog - seems like she's been through so much just from her physical condition and yet there is still more to do! But again, she's in my life for a reason and she's officially ours...so what the heck!

Love the lime green Mickey to go with the KTWW card on the lanyard. We were lucky last Fall when one of the cruis-ears did the ID's up for us.

If any of you are like me, you forget names easily - and folks, please understand I do not mean to forget anyone - it's just that I'm aging faster by the day and my memory....well, I put it somewhere and now can't mind all of it!!!!!!!

Looking forward to the next few weeks flying by - wish I would have gotten the idea to fly down the night before to be with you all.

Andy, I will do that on "our" April Cruise in 2005 - we want to get over to Dixie with you and the family. Maybe enough of us can get together for that celebration that we can just swipe shrimp all night long!!!!

Rae

 Emmak and I don't have lanyards and any ideas as to how to preserve our tags. I have them all cut out and got gummy-like stickers for back to put on our shirts for embarkation day. I found them in the stationery department at Wal-Mart. They are clear poster stickies actually but good because they won't leave any residue on your clothes. But now I will write on front, thread name and real underneath, and will laminate too, but other than that will have to carry in our pockets I guess. Any ideas will be welcome. Barb

I will buy the lanyards for Makaroni5 and myself. I will surely lose my KTTW card unless it is wrapped around my neck...and sorry to say Makaroni5 (Mom) will lose it within the first 5 minutes of the trip. I can't tell you how many times I have searched for glasses that are dangling from her neck!!!:p

Just two more weeks to go May 3rd Cruisers, just think two more Saturdays and you will be boarding this MAGICal ship!!!

Who is getting so excited about your cruise that you have trouble falling asleep at night??? Or, did I just put that thought in your head, oh no, what have I done!!!

I'll be watching on the 3rd and posting a photo of the ship that morning for you all!!!

Verandah Man (Honorary Mascot, and I'm not even on this cruise, LOL!!!)

We leave in 3 weeks. Hope all your May 3rd cruisers have a MAGICal time! Leave the ship in great shape for us won't you :)

Verandah Man, you are so right. The excitement is almost too much to stand. It is finally (almost) here, 2 more weeks. Finishing up my packing today, I hope. Then all that is left is to anxiously wait for the rest of my "crew" from CT to show up for that big day. My DD, her DH and DS and DD will be arriving here in FL 2 days before the cruise. Haven't seen them since right after New Years, so very excited to see them too.

Thanks for the well wishes and we'll be thinking of you on that day as we "sail away". It won't be long and we'll be jealous of you sailing away on your cruise. We'll be in touch for sure and let you know how we're doing on our trip. Keep smiling, your time is coming soon!
