May 3, 2003 - Magic Eastern Cruisers

Who says that we will be off the ship by then, Andy?!

I might not had had my fill of shrimp over just one cruise, or even two, it just might take three!!!

Wishing you all a wonderful Palm Sunday, knowing that in 20 days we will be cruisin'!!!

Rae

Sounds like a good idea to me! When and where could be an issue- how long did it take us to decide on the promenade lounge after the muster? lol I don't know a whole lot about wine tho....how about Boones farm? Do they even make Boones farm anymore? I have many mixed memories of that stuff and I am sure I am showing my age by admitting I drank it! Who else has late dining?
I finally found a beautiful formal outfit! It was a great deal and looks lovely if I do say so myself! We will be quite elegant! We are planning on getting pretty dressed up most night for dinners but the formal night will be especially fun! Son looks so handsome in the tux, and daughters are lovely in thier gowns too! I have informed my children that there are a few non-negotiable facts on this cruise...1 is family dinner every night, 2 is dress clothes for dinner and 3 is that they will pose for pictures every time I say so! That way we ought to get at least one good formal photo.
So Rae- can I be second in line for the shrimp??? I'll carry the cocktail sauce.....hehehe

Jeanne434 - you can be second in line but don't expect anything left by the time I finish -
I love the hot cocktail sauce best!!

And as I was telling verandahman - cheese is my absolute favorite food!!!! My dear Syrian doctor never had cheese until he was an adult and always is perplexed when I tell him I just can't give it up (yes, I know fat/calories/cholesterol) but AGGGGGHHH!!!! Cheese and shrimp and a nice Guiness draught - that's living!

Cheese and shrimp and Guinness - that's my kind of sandwich!!

Hi, all! Just one more day, and countdown begins with '1'!!!

The wine-tasting for those who want to do it sounds like fun -- doesn't have to happen right away, of course. . . . some pleasant early afternoon on a sea day would be great. . . but not too late into the cruise or the bottles might not stay uncorked

Bet you didn't know we have Canadian wines, either. Just found a really nice Merlot (Tinhorn Creek) from BC that I'd be happy to share.

Starting to pack today :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I asked Tom to get my suitcases down from the garage and he said, "Packing now?!" He always packs the night before, never forgets anything and has no wrinkles in anything. Opposites attract, I guess!!!!!

I forget stuff, pack too much, pack too soon and need both the Downy Wrinkle Remover and an iron to look proper!!!

You know the old expression about you "marry your parent" - well, I've had this discussion many times with people and I find that it's all too often true - I think I married my Mother at times.....they are both VERY fussy with their hair, their personal appearance, their clothing, their homes and cars, they always see the best side of everyone, make excuses for those who are late, rude or ignorant, and have many other similarities.

Did you ever think of that in your own relationships?

Rae

P.S. Do you think this allegra D is making me weirder than usual?
HAHAHAH

Ermm - seeing the best side of everyone and making excuses for others sounds a bit like you Rae! Maybe your husband married himself as well as your mother!

WINE TASTING -
We are lucky enough to be cruising Concierge with plenty of room. If anyone wanted to do the wine-tasting on Monday afternoon (sea day) - then I would be pleased to arrange glasses, soft drinks and snacks in our stateroom.

Not long to go now!

That sounds like a plan to me- on Monday afternoon. Now I will have to research and see if there are wines made in Massachusetts...hmmmm...I know Conneticut makes a yummy dessert type wine and Massachusetts must have something. gonna go look now. Count me in Matt!!

See, I knew I should have changed my cruise from August to May 3rd!!! You Lucky May 3rd Cruisers!!!

Rae,
I didn't see an Annie update, how is she doing.
I'm still waiting to hear if Roger from Brazil will still be on the Magic. Something in my head is telling me he will still be there when you get there. Have fun

The wine tasting sounds like a great idea. You can count us in, we are always into trying new wines.
I do have to say that where we live there really isn't a good wine that is made here in little ol Iowa....but we know of some good wines to bring or to buy the day before the cruise while in Orlando.

**Are children invited too or is everyone putting their children in the club awhile to play with their friends?????

Thanks,

Thanks,

If you are referring to the wine tasting and others wish to take up my offer of using our stateroom - then children are VERY WELCOME! You certainly won't stop my 3 year old from enjoying the occasion!!

We do have a lot of extra room - so I am not worried about how many come.

Although English wine is interesting (?) - I for one intend to bring a bottle which has been personally chosen by me - although not from my own area. I am sure others will agree there is no particular requirement to bring a local wine. In my particular case - others will probably be only too pleased about my plan!!...

AAWWWWW!!! Matthew, I was hoping to try a good English stout wine...???? ;)

Thanks for the offer of your room.... Monday afternoon sounds great!! Are you sure you want a bunch of crazy wine guzzeling.. oops!.. sipping DIS boarders actually IN YOUR ROOM???? :jester:

Although we do have some vinyards here close to home... Good ole' Grapevine Texas....... My fav right now is actually from the Builtmore vinyards..... I hope I still have a bottle! I think the shipping takes 3 weeks:eek: Never fear........ I will do earnest and indepth research between now and then!!!

As for my kids... DD10 has spent much time planning how to get away from us and DD4 swears she is going with big Sis.... Promises....;) We have begun to have a bit of a temper problem with DD4 as of late..... We may need the use of one of your "corners" if she makes an apperance...

I will also bring some of our fav munchies...... so we don't get to crazy!!!

Thanks again.......... Can't wait......

Barbara

Thank you so much, Matthew and Corrina!!! Mom, Michael and I will certainly be there! This is getting more exciting as time goes on!!!

Boy oh Boy, you've got that right!!! I've been e-mailing with Rae and Matthew the past few weeks, I feel as though I am a part of your group, that whole week May 3-10, I will be home and at work thinking about all of you on your cruise, especially on Monday while you are having your wine tasting party. I told Rae and Matthew if my DD wasn't having such a tough time in 7th grade this year, we would have changed our August cruise to your May 3rd cruise. Have a sip of wine and a few shrimp for me. I hope I hear from someone during your cruise, I will be living through all of you that week!!! Bon Voyage!!!

Ah- Hah! Success!! I got our lime green Mickey Mouse Disney Paint chip things!! Now what??
Am I supposed to design a name tag out of them or use the whole thing? Whatever- look for the folks sporting lime green ears!
The wine tasting sounds like it shall be quite the gathering! We should probably decide a time in case we don't catch up with each other before then. I personally plan on being on the Promenade for the "Dis'ers Meet and Greet" but just in case! Can you tell I am a bit of a plan freak?! Also- um...will there be a hunt for Matt's room or will we know ahead of time?
"Anyone seen folks with lime green ears carrying wine bottles around here?"
Another question- HEY MATT- is the other half okay with this plan? If not we could easily meet someplace public. Unless everyone wants to try to cram into my cabin!! Certain to be filled with too much luggage! :p
I think it is wonderful that we are meeting each other like this prior to sailing! I think it will add to the adventure and magic of the cruise! Anyone got web cams?? And I do still want to get onto a chat room for some real time talk. I know everyone had trouble getting into the room last week. Apparently Dis does not have the chat thing down fully yet! i got in there fine- after four trys!! May I suggest we choose a different chat room for next fri or maybe Thursday since some people have plans for every friday. I know some deserted rooms we could use. I will locate addies and keep bugging you all to come! How about thursday night? say 7 Pm or 8 PM?

Set your VCR's or get a friend to tape the Travel Channel on Tuesday April 15 (Tax day!) They will be showing the Disney Cruise!! That ought to get our juices flowing for our upcoming adventure! It will be on at 8 PM and again at 11PM. If you miss it that day it airs again on April 19 (Sat) at 3 Pm. Should be fun to see the very spots where we will be walking soon! Just wanted to remind you all!:smooth:

I checked my local TV Guide and I can't find the Travel Channel list by my local cable company, just my luck. I'm going to have my DW call our cable company in the morning just to check with them for sure.
