May 28, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

Any one got aany idea what films will be showing this trip

David & Jane

to ask what would be playing and the CM said she thought Pirates of the Carribean would be playing on the ship. There are a couple of other 3D movies that will be playing too. It would probably be more accurate once we get closer to the sail date

Hey Bev (Dylan'smom), don't wait to book onboard! Book now!! Too many of our TA friends are getting off, stay onboad with me!! :cheer2:
Jeanne

Hey Jeanne!

I'm so torn.......!!!!!!!

Now that the TA is closed to reservations, it makes me a little scared that they will close the Med...so we will either book the day we board, or cave & do it NOW. It's a price difference, so we would end up booking a better room, I thought, by waiting.

What to do, what to do..... :hyper2: <--- my mind & me

Welcome to our thread!!!!! :welcome:party:

Glad you are joining us. You can check out the website that I created for this cruise by clicking the link in my signature. On the Private Tour tab you can find companies that do tours at our ports and people looking for others to join them on already booked private tours.

We did private tours last year and are doing the same this year. More so this year than last because we are a little bit more familiar with the ports.

WELCOME !!! :yay::yay::yay:

I'm thinking our cruise must be undersold since you were able to book Early Seating. Most of the time when you book close to the sailing date you can only get late dining seating :confused3

We booked in January and could only get late seating :confused3 We are on the wait list for early, but now I don't know if we want to change, since our whole schedule is built around that. :rolleyes1

Wow, you guys are right, I checked availability on the cruise and it looks like nearly every, if not all, stateroom categories are still available. I guess that's good. Likely also the reason GTYs are still waiting for assignments.

We've got a paper chain countdown in the kitchen now and the boys rip off one link every day before school. We're in the teens now, getting closer...:teacher:

Hi all

We've booked on this cruise today (well I've pressed submit for Dreams to pay the balance so we're as good as booked).

We decided we need to use some vacation days up and what better way than on the Magic (we really missed her when we were on the Dream in April).

We are:

Me (tripodjw) - Jane
DH - Heath
6th DCL cruise
Stateroom - OGT
No celebrations.

I also wanted to say a special hello to Cindy (DopeyFan1966) as we were on the same Med cruise as you last year - yes i was the one who did the FE/rollcall organising that you've been doing for this cruise. Good job on that btw :thumbsup2 It will be nice to see some familiar faces onboard.

Now to plan everything else in a really short space of time. eek :scared1:

Welcome back!!!!!! I'm doing a good job because I copied items from your site. I had no idea how easy it is to create a site like this one, plus I never would have had some of the graphics if it weren't for you. This year it is much easier, there is a lot less people to keep track of. Also a couple people have posted on this thread but they have not given me enough information to add them to the roll call. Mad Disney is also returning to this cruise, they were on it with us last year.

Some of the other information that I added was provided by others that will be on the cruise.

There are some open tours if you are interested.

Cindy

You must be so excited now! only 2 weeks & 3 days to sail away!! We have waited months!! We are flying the night before from Liverpool & staying in the Renaissance Airport hotel the night before.

We got our GTY about two weeks ago. Finally starting to get serious about planning.

Hello tripodjw and welcome back on this great cruise !

I would also like to congratulate you for the decoration of your stateroom door last year. We were on the stateroom 2072 last year, very close from yours and looked at each ornamentation you do.

Thanks for the welcome all.

Welcome back!!!!!! ...
...There are some open tours if you are interested.

Cindy

I'm not sure what we'll be doing in ports this year - i think we may skip tours and just relax and enjoy the ports - this is our "cheap time-filler" vacation.

Hello again! Thanks. We should be doing the same thing again to our door this year - it helps us find our own room and if other people enjoy looking at it - that's a bonus.

I was up booking our flights this morning at like 5.30am. Thankfully we've found a reasonable rate from our local airport (east midlands) direct to barcelona the night before and home via amsterdam. We've booked the strange "air Rooms" hotel that's at barcelona airport - as our flight gets in at 10.15pm. Apparently the hotel is part of the business centre at the airport. rather weird but convenient for a late arriving flight.

My wife and two daughters (12 & 14) are still looking for someone interested in sharing a private tour of the Amalfi Coast in Naples. If you are interested, let us know; information on the tour is included below. Thanks.

-Jon

We would start out with an 8am pick up from the ship in Naples and spend the morning driving towards and along the Amalfi Coast, learning about the history, culture and modern day aspects of the area, with views and photo opportunities of

• Vesuvius
• The islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida
• The Bay of Naples
• Sorrento

From Sorrento we then drop onto the spectacular Amalfi drive, the famous windy road with its breathtaking views that takes us first to the town of Positano. Here you can stroll down to Positano's beachfront, passing by the characteristic shops, cafes and boutique hotels that make this village so coveted by the jet set.

From there we continue to drive south, stopping here and there for the amazing views and photos to be had, passing through the towns of Praiano, Conca dei Marini, Furore and on to Amalfi, where you can have a chance to walk around in Amalfi's quaint city center and out on the waterfront complete with an accessible beach and port that harbors the simple fishing boats as well as the yachts of the well-to-do.

Based on your priorities, along the way there are options to see how the local artisans do the inlaid woodwork that has been famous in the Sorrento area for centuries and/or visit a local ceramics factory in the small village of Conca Dei Marini.

Depending on your groups' wishes, you can have lunch on your own while in Amalfi, or we can arrange to stop at a very reasonably priced local family-style trattoria for a proper Italian lunch of local fare such as fresh homemade pasta, pizza from a wood burning oven and/or seafood dishes made from seafood caught that very day. Local wine made from grapes harvested and pressed just minutes away is on tap and the limoncello isn't far behind. The restaurant is in a little town high above Amalfi where tourists don't usually go, so your group would get a little local flavor.

After lunch, we will take in the views of the hilltop town of Ravello, famous for its villa gardens and its music festivals. From here we drive through the Lattari mountains with its chestnut forest and breathtaking landscape that provides more views from on high. stopping on the way for a taste of the most delicious Granita di Limone (Lemon Ice) made from the famous lemons of the region. We then journey back on the highway to your ship in Naples.
