May 28, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

This sounds interesting! However, what is making me wonder is the short length of the tour: I found out that the Valley of Temples is in Agrigento, which is approx. two hours driving time from Palermo according to Googlemaps. So wouldn't it take 4 hours already only to get there from the ship and back?
Or do we not really dock in Palermo but rather much closer to Agrigento? Thanks in advance for explaining as I'm confused now! :flower3:

You're right. I guess I need to look into it more. It doesn't say anything on the site about it being that far away. I was looking for something in Palermo. So the museum isn't the right one either, because the museum in Palermo has the Rosetta Stone.

So this tour might be out and I will have to find a different one. Thanks for pointing that out to me, better to know now then later. Glad I didn't put a deposit on it already.

Hey Cindy, glad I was able to help (if only through my sheer confusion :lmao:).

Please let us know if you find something else that sounds interesting!

Contacted another tour company and he said that the tour to the Valley of Temples isn't recommended. So now I have to figure out what to do. Probably going to look into a guided walking tour of Palermo. Not sure yet. This is going to take a lot of research to figure this one out. I really can't find any good sites with information about Palermo, and the ones I do find list a bunch of things I've never heard of. I'll let you all know when I find something good.

Hi Everyone....
Looking forward to our upcoming cruise very much!

I have openings on the following private tours if anyone is interested:

1. Rome - RomeCabs (Stefano) 3 openings (All Major sites) The Vatican in the morning with a 2 hour private guide. Colosseum and all other sites in the afternoon.

2. Naples - RomeCabs (Stefano) 5 spaces available - Sorrento, Pompeii (with a private tour and guide), and Positano.

3. LaSpezia - Romeinlimo - 3 spaces available - Pisa & Florence

I am still working and thinking about Villefanche. If I confirm something there I will post.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Thanks!
Shirley

Cindy-
Are you still interested in the Naples & Rome Tours? Not sure if you already booked something on our own.

In Naples we are doing Sorrento, Pompeii (with a private guide), and Positano.
We have up to 5 places available on this tour. It is with RomeCabs (Stefano).

In Rome we are doing the Rome Highlights (that you mentioned). Vatican in the morning with a private tour guide for 2 hours and Colosseum in the afternoon. We have 3 places available on this tour. It will be a full days tour as we hope to see as many of the sites as possible since we haven't been there before. It is with RomeCabs (Stefano).

Let me know.
Shirley

Shirley,

Do you still have 3 spaces available for your Rome and Naples tours? I'm definitely interested!

Leslie

Cindy,
Could you add the Boyfriend, Ed Black and his daughter, Chelsea, 18 to our roll call please? We have doubled our party and will be celebrating Chelsea's High School graduation!

Thanks,
Leslie

Leslie,
Yes....we do still have 3 spaces available on both Rome and Naples. My email address is cwtravel@me.com if you want to email me directly. I can then send you some of the details.
Thanks,
Shirley

We are now full on our Rome tour.
We still have space available on:
LaSpezia - Pisa & Florence (3 spaces)
Naples - Sorrento, Pompeii with a private guide & Positano (2 spaces)

Hi guys !
Just wanted to put my 2 cents in. We also have Rome Cabs for Rome and Amalfi Coast. Stefano is our favorite guide. We had him in 2007 on the Disney Med cruise. Loved every minute !!

Hi Gina,
Thanks for the info. I am not sure how many guides he now has but I have read great reviews on his private tour services. We are looking forward to it. Only reason we didn't book with him for LaSpezia is that he said he doesn't have tours from that port. Too bad. But the other company I booked with has great reviews too (RomeinLimo).

Thanks again for the feedback!
Shirley

Just an update - we are now full on all of our private tours.

Just an update - we are now full on all of our private tours.

On the website for our cruise, I have updated the roll call and the private cruise information. I changed it a little and have a list for open tours and a list for closed tours.

If anyone sees anything I missed please let me know, I will try to keep the site up to date as much as possible.

Is anyone interested in doing a meet and greet on day one? If so let me know and we can arrange something.

I will be able to book my things on the ship on 27 February. I would like to put together a brunch in Palo on one of our sea days, is anyone interested? I think you can get 12 or 13 people in the private room. It would still cost you the regular $15 per person to eat in Palo if you want to do this, nothing extra. If anyone is interested I will need you to PM me with your reservation number so I can put make the reservation.

Also, if there is anyone interested in linking their reservations with others you can do that and request that you be seated together for dining. All you have to do is contact Disney and give them both reservation numbers and inform them that you would like to sit at the same table for dining.

If I can think of other information I will let everyone know.

Cindy

Hello All!

We have decided to join all of you on this cruise! We actually LOVE this cruise -- we did it twice last summer and we are addicted!!!

We did the cruise once "on our own without any Disney Shore Adventures" and the other time with the Adventures By Disney Add-on. (By the way, the ABD add-on was absolutely amazing!)

We are also doing the transatlantic!

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Trisha, Ben, Alexandra (DD6) & Zachary (DD4)

A Meet and Greet is a great idea, I was going to ask the same thing! On our last cruise (at the same time our first cruise :)) we met on embarkation day at 3.00 in the Promenade Lounge, would that be an idea?

Sounds lovely about the group booking for Palo brunch too ... But as everyone is only allowed one Palo brunch booking, I would like to save that for DH and myself alone, this being our wedding anniversary and all. But I am sure you all will have fun, we were in the private room with 12 people for brunch on our last cruise and had a blast!

Cindy
The Meet and Greet would be nice.
Thanks for all you are doing to make this cruise soooooo special !:grouphug:

The brunch would be fun, too, or a Palo dinner ?
I'll check with our son & DIL ( Cousin Orville ) and see what he thinks and get back with you.

That is another great idea, I'm sure it would be wonderful to be seated with other DISers. If anybody would like to link reservations and be seated together with us, please let me know!
We're an easygoing childless German couple in our mid thirties (but we most definitely wouldn't have a problem sitting WITH children, either :)) who love all things Disney.
We have specifically requested our assistant server from last year, the wonderful Nergis from Turkey, so if we get lucky and are assigned to her you are guaranteed stellar service, too! ;)

Oh, and I should probably add that we have late seating so obviously this will only work with other "late diners" ...

Have they changed something that I don't know about???? I don't know anything about only one Palo booking....last year we had a brunch and a dinner, and others had several things booked at Palo.

This cruise is also our 17th Anniversary, we will be in Cinque Terra for ours. I'm so excited.

OKAY, WE WILL HAVE A MEET AND GREET IN THE PROMENADE ON DAY ONE BETWEEN 1400 AND 1530.

Then it is off to our life boat drills.

Meet and Greet: Day 1, 2.00 pm, Promenade Lounge. Check. :thumbsup2

And regarding Palo: I may be mistaken here, but I was under the impression that you could only book one each at Palo - so, one brunch, one dinner and one high tea (unless, of course, you get none at all because it is already booked out ;)). Can anybody tell me if I'm wrong?

That is correct. Once on the ship you can make additional reservations if they're available. On our Baltic cruise last summer we saw empty tables at Palo at dinner. Brunch is always the hardest to book.
