May 28, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

Got our room assignment, we were upgraded from category 5C to a category 4. We are in room 8026, just a couple rooms down from the upgraded room that we got last year.

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

I'm getting really excited now.

Cindy
Congrats on the upgrade !
By the way, I want to know how to pay the gratuity - by cash or charge to the on-board account?
Also, what amount to pay?

If you go to the website and click on the links tab you will find a cruise tip calculator. Click on that and it will take you to a site that tells you how much to pay to each person.

You can charge it to your room, I think Disney prefers it that way. Last year I charged it to my room, but those I thought deserved extra, I put a little extra cash in their envelope. That was money they didn't have to report.

Hey, that's terrific about your upgrade !!

We have a new stateroom # 7632

Cindy, as these FE staterooms come in will you be adding them to the FE List ?

Is anyone doing the Turkish Schooner in Malta ??
What about the Village of Cefalu out of Palermo ??

I can change it, but you can also by going to the google spreadsheet that I sent you. When you make corrections in it they stay, all those on the FE list have access to that spreadsheet. If you didn't get the invite, let me know and I will resend it to you. Send me a PM with your email address so I can make sure I typed in the right address.

Cindy

OK, so our room is # 8002, but it still says Cat 05C. So I assume we got upgraded? Right? :)

Yes you were upgraded. You are just downt he hall from us. Your room is in the very front of the boat, under the spa. We had 8010 last year and it was so quite down there. No one above you in the evening because the spa is closed.

Very close to the forward elevators.

Congrats.

Congrats to all. This part is really fun. We are still waiting. (I wouldn't want to admit how many times I've checked in the past 24 hours ). "anticipa...aaa...tion, it's making me wait..." Did I just date myself?

Thanks for the info, though I'm more worried about how calm the sea will be. The cruise just before us had 4 to 5 foot seas, the waves were coming up onto the third deck. But we had smooth sailing for our entire trip. Keeping my fingers crossed for the same this year.

was actually a really nice day today for a change in Belgium. On the base we had our first flea market of the season. I went to get rid of some of my daughter's clothes, some of my clothes, shoes (both of ours) and other stuff. Really happy, made 220 Euro today  That is enough to pay for our hotel in Paris after the cruise.

We are going to fly back to Belgium on 8 May and then take the train down there on 9 May, and come back on 10 May. Hotels are not cheap in Paris, especially if you are looking for something close to the Eiffel Tower for 3 adults and 1 child.

Now I have to clean my house and get ready for a BBQ next weekend.

I can't believe that it is only 40 more days away!!!!!

I have only insured one trip in my life as most of the policies only cover very specific reasons for cancellation. But perhaps there are folks who can address this better than I.

On another note, still haven't received our stateroom. Is this normal that some are assigned much later than others? I did find a fun page with reviews of the individual staterooms. Those who have theirs can check out what others have said about those rooms from prior trips.

never bought trip insurance before. I've look at what was offered and found that they are too specific. I'm not expecting anyone in my party to be getting too sick to travel and not expecting any accident to happen (but I guess that is why they are called accidents). I only see one way my vacation won't happen and that is if my boss pulls back my leave, and that isn't covered.

Sorry you haven't got your room assignment yet, do you just have a regular GTY or a VGY? Maybe that is the difference. I'd call and ask, it can't hurt.

we have about 11 or 12 days until we find out if we got the group brunch in PALO, getting really hyped up about this cruise this year.

Okay,

I've only received two requests for htmlkid to make T-shirts (one request from Full Quiver and one from Melo597). If anyone wants me to email them a good quality JPEG file to print their own and iron it on before the cruise let me know, or if you want htmlkid to print them for you it will be $5.00 per transfer.

It is getting very close and I don't want to have to ask him to do it last minute, that is not fair or right. So the cut-off to request that he make your transfer for you will be 6 May, unless he contacts me and asks me to change it.

Only 40 more days to go.:banana::cheer2::cheer2::woohoo:

Insurance is not only if some one gets sick, but if flights are delayed, canciled or they cant get you to the ship on time

Woohoo, our cruise docs arrived today!:banana::banana:
Now everything seems even more real, and close. I am getting so excited! :yay:

our Planning Center Dashboard says: "Category VGT, #GTY"

I was expecting the #GTY to change to a stateroom number at some point. Is that how it works for you? Is your GTY different?

Also, are you getting your boarding documents through APO or direct mail? Wondering if ours will arrive on time.

According to DCL cruise Docs should be to you 30 days prior. We still have 39 days, plenty of time to get cruise Docs. As for room assignment I would Call DCL and find out what happened. It is my undersatnding it should be with in 45 days room assignments are given out. There are still other people out there who still don't have room asssignments (my brother is one and he is calling dCL today) Good Luck:yay:

I only had GTY, not a VGT. So I agree, you should call.

Last year I received my documents at my APO, but can't remember when I received them. I know that I got them a lot sooner than I expected. Our mail came in late today so I haven't checked. I expect it will be in my APO before 15 May.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a good room assignment for you.:dance3:

OK, now this is weird. My husband called from his work phone and DCL told him that as we paid through a travel agent, the travel agent had to assign the room. That doesn't sound right for a GTY rate. True, he's less involved and may have misunderstood, but he used the correct reservation number.

Anyone have an idea on this? Do travel agents ever assign staterooms in the GTY category? Will keep on it, thanks for the advice to call...I would have waited for weeks...
