Good to know! I am sure it will all be fine! I bet this is a dumb question, but do the kids need to bring "an autograph" book for the cruise? We've always had one for the WDW, and DL trips, but are cruises the same? Or are we just taking lots of pictures?

On the Travel Channel's special about DCL, they show a signing session with the characters doing their best to sign through those clumsy costumes And I think I've read something somewhere about character meets, where I'm sure they will be delighted to sign the books! In fact that makes me think I should probably get one for my DS.

I'm proud of y'all that are doing the ziplines! I have the courage of your average moth, and will not be dangling off some wire in the treetops...but I admire those of you who can! Wow, and I can't wait to see the photos!

Carrie, how is Sammy today?

I'm STILL waiting for my docs...I love my TA, but she just isn't the quickest person due in part I would think to being overworked, poor dear. I may stop by tomorrow, "just to say hi ...oh and by the way... ?"

Thank you all for your positive thoughts and prayers. Sammy is much improved. He went to his primary care doc today. He says Sammy needs to be on his medicine (Zantac) for at least a month to give his GI system time to heal. He wants to see him back in a month to be sure he's red blood cell count has gotten back to normal.

Moley, I'm sorry to hear about your DH's heart scare. It helped me to read that you too had second thoughts about going on the cruise and excursions. I still haven't decided what we'll do about the excursions. I guess I'll just give it time.

Margaret, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. I know that you will miss her terribly. Our dog, Chili, is a part of our family and it's hard to imagine our lives without him. He and the kids are together all day long. "Chili" was the first word that both of my kids spoke. How is Grace handling everything? I'm glad you have the cruise to look forward to.

Below are some of the gory details as to what happened to Sammy. It's a bit gross so many of you might like to skip reading it.

Sammy had a stomach flu that started Sunday 4/17. I couldn't get him to eat or drink much for 3 days. Wednesday he woke up feeling better. He was thirsty and wanted to eat. He drank about 20 ozs of ginger ale, and ate some toast, saltines, and a bit of yogurt during the morning. By midday he stopped asking for food and I could not get him to take a sip. By 4 he was screaming off and on about his stomach hurting. Soon he started vomiting and it was like his body was in a tailspin. He could not stop. The vomit was full of digested blood. We went to the ER. Once we got there, he started vomiting bright red. They knew he was bleeding somewhere but weren't sure where from or how seriously. Once the IV started, he stopped vomiting within 5 minutes. But, we still needed to get him to a better equipped hospital with a pediatric surgeon. By the time we got to UCD, he was stable. They decided to wait and watch his blood counts before inserting a nasogastric tube or scope. Thankfully, his condition improved. He ended up spending the night and following day there.

The docs have attributed everything to the stomach flu that is going around. Sammy's doc told me today that "half the kids in Sacramento are vomiting." And that the violent persistent wretching that Sammy experienced tore and irritated some place in his upper GI tract causing the bleeding. They expect a complete recovery. It appears to have just been a freak thing that happened. I wish it had happened to me instead of my DS. It was absolutely heartbreaking. I appreciate all of your concern and support.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and words. Grace actually is holding up better than I am. I guess kids are resilient that way. It is actually a comfort for me because if she was falling apart, as a mom you know that would be even harder than my own grief. Speaking along the same vein, your poor little Sammy will probably not even ever remember this incident. Although he was feeling super yucko and was probably frightened, most people have no memories of anything before they were 5 years old. Hopefully, you can take some comfort in the probability of him not even remembering all this. Christmas 2003, when Grace was 4yrs old, she had a terrible flu. 7 straight days of temperatures in the range of 101.4-104.1. Motrin didn't work, Tylenol didn't work and finally a friend told me to try Advil and that did bring it down a little. By the time I could get her into the doctor, they told me it was a virus, nothing they could do and not to worry about the fever (it was the body's natural defense system!). Of course, when your baby's laying there, not interested in opening Christmas presents (and she loves presents!) and is hallucinating, you worry! The next Christmas (this past) Grace heard us mentioning her past illness and she had no recollection at all of it. It must of been awful for you,, I totally can relate. You'd give anything just to have your baby be ok again. Please know that if you do decide to do any excursions and we are on the ship (we are only planning one excursion), we will be more than happy to help in any way.

Carrie, I'm not actively planning to leave the ship for a planned excursion, and your Sammy is welcome to hang out with my Sam anytime. Just so you know I'm here for you too!

We had an emergency room scare once too, and yes it is so hard to watch your baby go through something when all you want is to take it all away; but I second the opinion that he likely won't remember any of it, so the trauma will fade in time for all of you. If that's any consolation.

Margaret (wccruiser), I am so sorry for your loss. Losing any member of your family is so difficult. Make sure you do take the time you need to celebrate the life and the love even when it makes you sad.

YES, we are also on the 8:15 AM flight thru the trees... I don't know what is wrong with my mother booking this at the crack of dawn.. its still gonna be wet outside, spider webs will be fresh, we'll be the first ones to plow thru them, face first on this stupid zip line thing... Well, I guess its gonna be wet outside all day since it is a RAIN FOREST. but we'll have fun. Glad you will be there too, you can go first. hehehe... Muhaahahahaha

Glad you are on the same tour as us.

My reasoning for the time was that this was a 5 hour tour, so doing it early would give us a little time left at the port. It is not actually the first one - the first one is at 7:45am. Remember that the 8:15am time is the time you meet on the ship. They still have to get everyone organized and then we took a boat ride and 50 minute drive so it will be a little later once we arrive.

My husband looked at me like I was crazy too. I've also always been a bit of a coward and a little afraid of heights and I'm not a youngin anymore.

I had a knee injury almost two years ago and haven't been able to do much activity since. Then after having my doctor tell me it was arthritis and I might have to live with it, I decided to do something about it. (If you want me to do something, tell me its not possible.) After trying everything else (doctors, chiropractors), I hooked up with a personal trainer and after only a couple of sessions, I begin to see the difference. Now I have no pain, have lost a few pounds and am starting to feel good about myself again. I decided that I was too young to resign myself to being an old lady already. So I'm all psyched up for this. We'll see how it goes.

Well I am certainly looking forward to it. It is something that I have always wanted to do. My mom and I are all excited. We want, what we call, "Jurassic Park" outfits to wear that day. Like khaki shorts and boots and stuff like that. We like to accesorize our outings.
