May 28, 2005 Mexican Riviera

Booked with the travel agent today.

Cabins 8068 (for us and the boys) and 6135 (for the girls).

SO excited and happy. Its our first cruise with Disney. We've been on Carnival to these ports in 2000 and then on Holland America (Penthouse Suite) to Alaska in 2002.

I have always wanted to do Disney!!!

:sunny: I spoke with Disney recently and they assured me that shore excursions would be researched and publicized as soon as they were done with the Antigua cruises. I'm really hoping to be able to go inland to see one of the ruins/pyramids, but I guess I won't get my hopes too high.

Also, I was told that it was Per Person on the alcoholic beverages you can bring back to the States...so my son might be in possesion of some tequila :smooth:

I'm considering going ahead and getting some money exchanged prior to going--but won't most places accept American money? I'm hoping the exchange rate is favorable so I can bring home lots of neat things for friends!

I'm WAY too excited, seeing's as how we've got months and months to go...

laters!

Melora, we'll be in 8062. My DS will be 4 on the cruise. He was very excited to see the picture of your kids and to know that there would another 4 year old just a few doors down.

Bump -- there has to be more than just the few of us going.

Anyone else, anyone?

Looks like we'll be the only ones on the Magic! LOL!

I keep checking back to see who has signed in. We're hoping for an 11yr girl and 7 yr boy to check in.

I think we'll see more people checking in after the 1st of the year.

Well, my son will be close to 6 when we cruise; he LOVES playing with other boys and he's used to a good range of ages!

rcclap,

My ds will be 7 1/2 when we board and will have met more people (adults and children) than the rest of our group put together. DS loves to talk/play with anyone who is willing. We met a very nice CM from Blizzard Beach through DS and he introduced the rest of us to Nicola from England in Mickey's Mates.

I'm sure our sons will be chatting away at some point during the trip.

PS I can't wait for that counter to get below 200.:cool2: :earboy2: :boat: :boat:

Havent been to this board in awhile because weve been so busy in the middle of an international adoption!

I am hoping if all goes well we will be bringing a 5 year old little girl with us. Our target is to get her home from Russia sometime before February!

Carrie my son will be 4 at the end of thismonth. We are going to be celebrating his 4th birthday at Disneyworld!!!! It will great to see other kids!

So much going on and so excited!!!

Melora, I hope that all goes well with the adoption. My son will be 4 in January. I bet we'll run into each other, since our rooms are so close. Enjoy this exciting time.

Greetings May 28th cruisers!!!

You are a key instrument in the short line of Disney westcoast cruisers!!!!::yes::

Your trip reports will be vital to those of us who follow! We all are entering a new territory, so please help us out. YOu could:

1. Scan an excursion form/document when you receive it.

2. File a trip report (pronto!!) so we can start dreaming deeper!!

Think of yourselves as pirates, charting the "Disney unknown"!!pirate:

Thanks!

Hello again to all!
I'm getting way to excited for something that's still MONTHS away. Someone had better pop this balloon :hyper:

Anyways, I've got a list of questions for anyone who feels like answering.

1. I'm traveling with my grandmother who has some mobility challenges. I'm thinking we should rent a scooter for her use onboard. Disney told me they'd let us park it at Guest Services and charge it when she's not using it. Do y'all think having it would be a benefit for my grandmother? She isn't the Disney freak I am but I thought she'd enjoy herself more if she could get around easily. Or would it be a hassle for the other passengers, and more of a liability?

2. Would anyone consider leaving their kid/s on the ship and going on a shore excursion without them? My DS will be nearly 6 but still hard to corral and I'm afraid of losing him in Mexico but also of losing the chance myself to go onshore.

3. Anyone know how big the verandahs are? And, do they hang out over the side of the ship, or is there some kind of overhang under them or whatever?

4. Are the pulldown bunks big enough for an adult? I'm thinking I should let Grandmother sleep in the main bed, and put my son on the hideaway couch; so I might be sleeping in the pull-down.

5. What's the 'nightlife' like on the ship for singles? I'm not thinking I'll get out too much, but if there's something to do after my son and grandmother are asleep, maybe I'll go and play:D

That's enough for now. We can talk packing lists later!!

peace-

I can help you with a couple of the things:

We left our three kids (ages 4, 6, and 9 at that time) on the ship the day we were in Key West. They REFUSED to go because they loved the clubs so much. DS6 is ADHD and they were absolutely wonderful with him! I can't brag enough! Just tell them at the club your plans as the pagers don't work on shore.

We had two category 10's on our cruise. We had a "main bed" which was two twins pushed together, a sofa sleeper and a drop down bunk. The kids loved the bunk!

There's always something going on as far as activities that I think you would enjoy. I did some alone just because they interested me and not necessarily DH. He did some things alone too. I think you will enjoy the adult clubs. We still laugh about 70's night on our cruise. It was a blast and we laughed until we cried!

Hi All,

Finally a cruise leaving from California....been waiting years for this!
Taking myself, DH, DD (14) and DD best friend (15). Should be a lot of fun with the two teens. Can't wait to meet all of you....

I will be aboard the outbound cruise to the west coast , cant wait :boat:

I'm new the boards and just came across this thread. My husband and I are also on this cruise. This will be our second DCL cruise and our first 7 day. We are in cabin 6090 and have late seating for dining.

We live only about an hour and a half away (San Diego), but booked a room the night before right on the harbor. I asked for a room that overlooked the harbor because I want to see the Magic when it arrives the first time. I imagine this is going to be a media event.

My husband thinks we booked the room so we could have a nice place to park the car (the hotel participates in the cruise and fly program, so with one night of hotel you can park your car there for the entire cruise time for free). I figure he'll sleep in as late as possible. Not me. I'll be too excited. Anybody else staying at the port?

Susie:

We are staying the night before at the Sheraton LA Harbor. Got the room and parking package. We also asked for a harbor view room so that we can watch the Magic arrive.

How did you find this package? I can't seem to find it listed on their website, if it is on there I obviously am just missing it. Please help. Thanks
