May 28, 2005 Mexican Riviera

Margaret and Rebecca, thank you for your kind offers to help with Sammy if we decide to do any excursions. I am expecting Sammy to make a full recovery before we go. Today he actually said he felt good. He even asked if he could have a corn dog for lunch. :)

My beloved wife called me this afternoon, with the trivia question I was most happy to answer it for her, but what I dream about was not Wescot, but Port Disney a theme park that was to be built at the port of Longbeach.

I remember reading about that The Man. They wanted a park in Long Beach. They were thinking it up the same time as DCA came about.

I feel that Challada, in her sickened and drugged-out condition, deserves some credit for her guess of the original EPCOT. However, wmjivey has given the correct answer; the property now called Disney's California Adventure was originally slated to become WESTCOT Center.

-------------------------------------------
Walt Disney considered EPCOT to be his "greatest gift to mankind." The Western version would have just expanded the existing EPCOT vision.

Code names for what became Walt Disney World included Project X, Project Winter, Project Florida, and Project Future.

Both Disneyland and Walt Disney World were built in counties named Orange!

:wizard: I know I have seen this, but can someone refresh my frazzled brain...where do you get the KTTW card holders? I was at Walmart today, and they didn't have it. I was at Galyan's sports..nothing. :sad2: So, where can I get them, and what should I be asking for? I thought it was Lanyard? Is that it? :earseek: :confused3
Thanks for your help!
The good news :cool1: I have my door magnets done, and luggage tags made...all laminated :Pinkbounc :cheer2: Poor Home Depot!

Mommyuf3- Lanyards are all over the place at DL for about $6-$8....I know that when you book a trip to DL or WDW thru AAA, they give you a free lanyard w/their logo marked all over it, same w/Disney travel company. I've actually never went looking to buy them, but I would think Walmart would carry them....you might even try a place like Michaels or Joanns or even going to the AAA office to see if they have them.

Thanks for the mickey for effort...I thought I remembered on my Disney Treasure Disneyland DVD Walt walking thru the park talking about his future plan of "EPCOT", etc....of course, we haven't watched that thing since we first bought it couple years ago so my memory is faulty.

That said, I am also thinking that a lot of things could go wrong. This is the first time for this cruise afterall. Even though Disney has a reputation for doing things right, I can't imagine that there aren't going to be a few hitches.

I guess I'm going with the attitude that this is possible (even likely) that some things won't go as planned and I'm willing to cut them some slack. I just won't let it spoil it for me. As my husband always says every time we leave on a trip and everytime something doesn't go as planned, "It's not a vacation, it's an adventure". And we do seem to have our share of "adventures".

Here! Here! It's mostly attitude. You can either get bent out of shape over something or go with the flow. Hey, it's Disney; not utopia. Bob and I have had some camping trips that were real doozies....earthquake in Yosemite, flood in Napa, forest fire in Big Trees, monster mosquitoes in Sonoma. Three of these were in the same year. We still had fun and just chalked it up as something interesting to put in the Christmas letter! As far as I'm concerned, as long as there is food, booze, and friends, it's a good cruise!

Thanks for the well wishes guys... good news is that I have stopped the flow of stuff that should not be coming out of a body and the fever seems to be down...bad news is I cannot speak now (very hard for ME) and definitely have a double ear infection. Started some amoxicillin that I've got laying around thinking that should clear it up (since it clears up everything).

Grammie-shirts are done...I'm going to wash them before we wear them if that's OK so they are softened up.

Glad to hear you are better! :cheer2: :bounce: :Pinkbounc Here comes the nagging part... ...you should still go to the doctor to get a full prescription of antibiotics and take all of them that are prescribed. Otherwise, you may only kill off the weak buggies and leave the really strong ones alive to come back and get you!

PS - soft shirts are niiiiiiice!

Grammiegail - I went to the gym today and did 30 minutes on the eliptical trainer and then my weight circuit.

WOOHOO! You have me beat! Work is nuts. The past 2 days I haven't even been able to get out for a 5 minute walk! Thank goodness for the stairs in the hospital and clients on the upper floors......21 flights of stairs today. Man, my thighs are burning, but I'm think this should give me perky buns. You think?????? :rotfl2:

You know, having a mom in health care really bites when you are sick! LOL....I just wanna be done w/it all. :cold: Friends in health care are just as bad...I can't even talk on the phone and they are all calling an nagging me.....JUST LIKE MY MOTHER! Serious, I figured if my throat and ears were still as bad in the morning, I was going to swing into the clinic on the way to work (to see if I can find more drugs under the seat cushions). Strep is going around right now but w/pills and time, I'm planning on being all cleared up by cruise time!

Everyone at the two baseball games tonight thought I was insane sitting way off by myself until I explained that I didn't want to infect everyone!

Chris, I reread your post. I hadn't noticed the part about you taking some amoxicillan that you had around. Definitely, listen to your mom and get a prescription.

You have to be sure you've got enough to knock out that infection. You also want to be certain that it's not much past the expiration date. I'm assuming that it's not the liquid form of amoxicillan. If it's in the liquid form, I would suspect it's lost it's potency.

I don't want you to end up with some nasty infection that end up being a bear to treat.

And I'm sure your mom has told you, if you have strep, you must take the appropriate antibiotics for the entire time prescribed.

Now you've got online friends nagging you too. :)

You might also check by wherever luggage is sold. Sometimes they have those type of things for arround your neck. One that holds an ID and money and whatever else you stick in there. I see alot of people with them on planes. Come to think of it, those might be good for the shore excursions, if you can find on that would fit a passport. Do we need our USA citizen documents everytime we board the ship? Or just our KTTW? :confused3 Mommyuf3 do you live near Disneyland? I keep forgetting who is already on the west coast and who isn't. If you don't, I am going to the park on Sunday and could pick up a cute lanyard and card holder for you. Just tell me what kind you would want. ::yes::

And what the heck?! AAA didn't give us any lanyards!

I have lanyards from school, other events and stuff, so all I was planning on doing was bringing along a hole punch for my KTTW card and adding it to the alien green Mickey head that will already be dangling there. You should be able to get the plastic fancy nametag/ID holders at an office supply place, or a discount store like WalMart of KMart or whatever.

In my opinion, an American citizen travelling out of the country, even if it's just to Mexico, should probably have their passport on their person whenever they're on dry land in that other country. It's just a matter of security and safety. For example, if (heaven forbid) one were to miss getting back on the ship before it left for its next port, having your passport will make it much easier to get official assistance getting your way back where you belong.

I shall now add my nag to the general forum...antibiotics are only good for you if you take enough to clear out all the buggies! Otherwise they just reinforce the ones that make it past the first couple of days. We want you healthy, happy, and ready to party in one month!

My voice is coming back, yay! Should I call my TA about my docs??????

peace--
Rebecca

Thank you! :worship: What is it with husbands and kids? You can tell them something (even if it is in your field of "expertise") and they don't :listen:! But, let someone else tell then and "Oh, ::yes::, that must be right!" But, then again, you just have to  them....especially, the kids 'cause that's where grandkids come from !!!!!!

PS - you, Chris! Glad you are feeling better and hope you are completely well soon! So far, Grampa and I are cootie-free!

I loved the pictures of the Green T-Shirts and the Green DIS cake. It looks like they had one of the large suites for their parties. Our room will be way too small to have a party in. Does anyone know if you can use a conference room or small bar or something for a get together party? Maybe everybody could sign up for an appetizer or we could all decide on a couple of good wines and bring a bottle from home for the party (then we wouldn't have to mix wines - maybe a good red and a good white?) Just an idea, not sure if it would work.
I think I've read about other DIS group gatherings. Also, I'm pretty sure that the guy that moderates the Disneycruise yahoo group had a small gathering that he hosted. I think it might have been in Palo during afternoon tea. I'll ask him. He's also my TA, so that will give me another opportunity to ask him about my docs.

If nothing else, I believe that on one of the other sailings, the DIS group took over the aft verandah on Deck 7 for a wine party.

My "luggage'' friend Jennifer has a BIG room and she said we could meet up in there. Were still going over details. *fingers crossed*

Pluto, that ever-faithful puppy pal, has in his lifetime uttered exactly two words. What were they, and when did this happen?

Enchanted Playroom's computer is freaking out... she says that in "Moose Hunt" Pluto says "kiss me" after Mickey thinks he has killed him and asks him to speak to him
