Just booked a cat 10 for the Wonder 27th May 2007 sailing. Can't find a thread for it, anyone else sailing? :mickeybar

Hi Tiggery! We're currently booked on that cruise too. We have connecting cat. 10 rooms. Is this your first DC?

Hi jjatwdw
This will be our second time on the Wonder . The first time was Sept 05.
We fell completly in love with cruising about 30 seconds after being on board.
I see from your sig that you just did the double scoop cruise, we are going on that in Sept.

We were on a 4-night Wonder in June '05 and were also hooked. We couldn't wait to sail again and had a great time on the double scoop. Castaway Cay is one of my favorite places. Costa Maya and Cosumel are really beautiful too. I'm sure you'll have a great time. I wanted to do another 7-night but the Magic is going to Europe, so we'll settle for a 4-night. My DH actually liked the Wonder better. Do you spend time at WDW when you come over?

We normally spend time at WDW except this year as DH wanted to take a year off the parks. Next year were planning to go to OKW for a week then do the Wonder, finishing off with 2 nights at BWVs. Thats the plan at the moment anyway. We wanted to do the Magic also but the Med thing put a stop on that. I was really looking forward to the Magic in the Med especially as the airfare from here would be cheap but it was WAY too pricy. It will cost much less to go to WDW and the Wonder.

Tiggery, I briefly thought about the Med cruise. It was just so expensive. However, the main reason we decided against it was the fact that it would be impossible to do most of the ports in one day. If I went back to Rome I certainly would want to spend a week there. The same with several of the ports Magic is visiting. It's one thing to do the cruise if you just want to float around the Med. However, we can float around the Car. for a whole lot cheaper. If you want to do Europe, the cruise probably isn't the best bet, at least for our family. We have a DS6, so we'll do WDW, probably staying at OKW, before we sail. My DH is a golf nut, so WDW is perfect for us because he golfs nearly every afternoon and the kiddies and I do the parks, pools, shopping, etc. Everybody's happy!!!

Since your doing OKW I take it your DVCers too. OKW is my favourite resort. We havent stayed there since Feb 05 and were really looking forward to it. Our best friends are planning on joining us so were treating us all to a 2bdroom. Going to have to wait till the 7 month window for that though as our home is BCVs.
I think I like being on the ship more than visiting the ports. I'm a big fan of the sea days, I love watching the sea roll past. Were not getting a balcony on this cruise and I'm hoping I wont miss it too much.

No, we're not part of the DVC. Our state allows very limited time-share ownership and DVC isn't on the list. We just rent points when we stay. I love OKW too. We did try to buy there but couldn't. We stayed in a 2bdrm this May, since there were seven of us. It was beautiful. I loved having the washer and dryer. We'll probably stay there next May too.
We're not big port people either. I absolutely hated Nassau when we stopped there last year, and will probably just stay on the boat when we stop there next May. The ports on the double scoop were better. Both Costa Maya and Cosumel are very beautiful. We walked in to Costa Maya for a few hours and did some shopping at the port. The prices were incredible. Lots of deals to be found. We were supposed to snorkle in Cosumel, but my DH slipped by the pool after we returned from Costa Maya and broke his wrist. We ended up staying on the ship at Cosumel, which was fine because we didn't have to tender. The biggest drag to his having a cast was that he couldn't do the stingray excursion on CC. The kids and I did it and had a great time. And, oh yeah, he can't golf, which is his life's passion. He gets the cast off Friday, has to wear a splint for two weeks, and is planning on being back on the links by mid-July.
We've always had a cat. 10 cabin, and find them quite roomy. The lack of a window doesn't bother us because we're rarely in the room anyway. We spend alot of time on decks 4, 9 and 10. It's making me sad just thinking about it and not being there!!!
Do you have kids or is it just you and DH?
By the way, I love your signature. I clicked on the link. Very interesting.

Theres just me (Sam)antha and DH Colin.
Thanks for taking a look at Monkey World. I'm a big fan of the work the do to help out the primates. We visit the park when we can but we live a 4 hr drive away so unfortunatly that isnt very often

Hi Tiggery! Sorry I haven't responded sooner. Things have been crazy. My DH broke his wrist on our cruise. The medical staff put a temporary cast on it and our doctor put a permanent cast on it when we returned home. We thought all was well but when he got the cast off on June 23rd the MD's did another xray and discovered that it hadn't healed properly. So he had surgery on it on the 28th. They put in a six-inch plate and a few pins. He gets the dressings and splint off tomorrow so we'll know more then. Oh well, we still had a great time on the cruise!!! The worst part of it all is that he is a huge golfer. It is his passion. He lives to golf. He usually plays everyday from May to September and several times a week during the rest of the year. It's killing him to be missing prime golf season. The ortho doctor told him he probably won't be full-out playing this year. I told him that he could really work on his putting this year. It will be the "summer of the putt." It didn't go over too well! Oh well, he has been a pretty good sport about it all. Judy

Eek, sorry to hear about your DHs wrist that can be really nasty. Glad you still managed to have a good time on the cruise.

Hi! We just booked this sailing. We have sailed Disney 4 times already, but never on the Wonder. We are going to follow this sailing with a 3 night stay at Hard Rock. It will be myself-Randi, DH-Jody, and DD-10- Ashlyn, and my parents are also coming, Don and Gail. Any others have kids coming??

Hi Randi. Welcome Aboard.
It's just DH and myself, jjatwdw has children but I'm not sure of there ages.

We are so excited about this trip! :cool1: We love DCL and can't wait to sail on the Wonder. I was kind of sad that we couldn't do a 7-night, but this will be fun followed by a stay at Universal. Are both of you staying at WDW before the cruise? We are planning to stay at the Radisson resort at the Port the night before. I have inquired about joining in with some cruisiers on the Mariner of the Seas about group rates for that night, it leaves out the same day. The rates seem to be pretty reasonable. If any one else is interested just let me know and I can get you the info.

jjatwdw- How old are your children? I just have the one and she will be 10 in Feb. She met some others her age before our cruise in Feb. and it worked out great. They hung out most of the week.

We just put our deposit down on our 1st ever cruise. It will be me, dh, our 7 (will be 8 on trip) year old ds, who is also autistic, and our 4 year old ds (will be 5 on trip).

We have a category 5 stateroom because I thought the verandah might help to prevent motion sickness. If someone needs fresh it, it's right at our fingertips. :thumbsup2

Nik's Mom Welcome Aboard. :boat:
We had a cat 5 on our Wonder cruise last year and loved it. It was a beautiful view, especially seeing the sunrise.

Randi. We normally stay in the Radisson at the port but this trip were staying prior to the cruise at WDW so we will be going directly from there.

Hi Randi and Nik's Mom. Welcome to our little group. This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise. It will be me, my DH, DS19, DD15, and DS6. We're staying at WDW before the cruise, but we'll probably move to the Radisson the night before we sail. We've never stayed at the port before, so we're still deciding. It would probably be easier and cheaper than staying at OKW. Judy

I'd love to hear about the rates you are all getting if you are arriving the day before the cruise. I keep going back and forth between staying at the Hyatt MCO or someplace near the Port. :confused3

Hi,

Here is the price that they guy leading up the group was quoted, this is for the cruise package, parking, shuttle and free breakfast the next morning.

$149 for a standard room and $179 for a suite

I think it was like $216 for a suite on the website.

Just let me know if you all are interested. He asked if I wanted him to get a few additonal rooms for us.

Randi :)

Wow, that's a really great rate for a suite. How many people will it hold? Do they make multiple trips to the port or do you all have to be ready at the same time? Judy
