May 27th 2007 Wonder Cruise. Anyone else on it?

Hello ALDISNEYFAN I spoke with my daughter and she is interested in corresponding with your daughter. I'm Melody and her name is Yvonne. We live in the Tampa Bay area in Florida. Hope to hear from you soon. I can't wait for my vacation to start. :yay:

I'd love to at least say hi. My dd is 11 and would enjoy meeting some girls her age. She's my only girl and gets sick of hanging around her brothers all the time. My boys are 13, 12 and 9 years old.

I think that would be lots of fun. Just let me know where and when and my family will be there.

Wehavesix and serena254(Melody) my dd is VERY excited by the news to correspond with and meet girls her own age:banana:

Here's our E-mail smcc@knology.net address. melody I attempted to send you an e-mail through the dis boards earlier today.

This is our 6th time on the Wonder. Myself, dw, and ds (16)
We will stay at the Raddison the night before. Can't wait.

Hi all,
Sorry I havent been around much lately but things got way too busy here. I feel like I started this thread then abandoned it.
Changed jobs recently and only just starting to feel that I have time to get excited about the cruise
Decided to leave booking Palo until we board as DH isnt a seafood fan so wants to go there on our Triton night. Neither of us are interested in the brunch so havent got to worry about snagging a spot for that.
Sorry to hear about the parasailing. This was on our must do list for this cruise (probably our only planned excursion) hopefully they will sort something out soon.

Will try to keep more in touch
Sam

Dreaming of margarettas and tortuga rum cake:cloud9:

wareagle--tried to send email via the link at the public profile for you. if not there, you can send an email addy to logan1_2000@yahoo.com and we can get the DS's in touch w/ one another.

My suggestion for a meet & greet on embarkation day--promenade lounge, 3 pm, prior to muster drill. If that works for others, I can try to wear the DIS green shirt...:thumbsup2

Sounds like a plan! I'll try to wear DIS green too.

I'm so excited to finally be going on this cruise. I've always heard so many good things about it. I do have a quick question: I've read that there is a semi-formal night when the men should wear coats. Are coats mandatory? Would my DH and two DS be OK in khaki pants and polo shirts? I know my DH is never going to want to dress up on his vacation.

So looking forward to May 27...

logan1_2000-I just sent you an email.

My family and I will be there at 3:00. I can't wait for May to get here. I just hope they will have the parasailing available by then. Any updates on this?

Welcome Cruisedreamer. How old are your sons? I am planning on my guys (DH, DS 12 and DS 8 1/2) wearing white dress shirts and ties, without jackets. My friend went last Sept., and her guys did not wear jackets. I am taking khaki and navy pants with polo shirts for the other nights.

Cruisedreamer,
The 3 and 4 night cruises are a bit more casual than the 7's.
My son and I will not be wearing a coat. Heck I may just wear a polo and dress pants. Either way you go there will be plenty of others dressed the same.

Thanks wareagle. My sons are 11 and 7 1/2. I think they are a little concerned about going on the cruise since they have both seen Titanic. I see that you are quite the veteran.

Thanks tiptoen. That sounds good to me. I don't want to go against policy but one of the main reasons I've shyed away from cruises before is the "formal night".

I've updated our cruise list on page 6, last post.

I wasn't planning on packing anything dressy this time. We've done the three night Wonder once before and I felt we were overdressed. I'm planning on khakis and polos for DH and sun dresses for the girls. Really I would think boys could even get away with khaki shorts and polos at dinner...

I haven't given much time to planning this trip yet, is there a semi formal on the four night?!?

There is no true "semi-formal" night on the four night. Triton's is the dressiest restaurant and gentlemen often do, but are not require to, wear a sport jacket/blazer to dinner. doing so over a khaki and polo outfit has been done many, many times and is very appropriate. How old are the boys for whom you propose shorts? We've had DS in a polo and khakis for dinner since he was 8, and while some have been even more casual in the dining room, we felt best having the level of attire we had chosen. YMMV. All other dining rooms are, of course, very much like what you describe for your plans. in terms of attire. (And DS always changes as soon as he leaves the dining room, anyway!).

Palo no longer requires a jacket for gentlemen, though I have worn one since the requirement was softened to a suggestion. For full honesty in disclosure--I just might leave the blue blazer home this coming May and wear polo shirts and khakis every night. Just depends how my packing is going, and if the blazer becomes the only thing that wont go into a traditional suitcase, that might well decide the matter.

Any other votes for a meet on embarkation day? Promenade Lounge, 3 pm before the muster drill is my suggestion--I'll wear my green DIS shirt perhaps?

I was just online checking our flights and saw that while our flights are the same cost as when we booked them several months ago, there now flights for as low as $140 and $150 round trip from NJ. The times arent' bad either...when I booked the lowest round trip was $190 and I thought that was good!

We are staying at the Residence Inn at Cape Canaveral. My sisters and their families are staying in Orlando hotels. I'm not sure where my mom and aunt are staying but they probably will stay in Orlando where one of my sisters is staying. I'm just curious.
