May 26, 2010--5/26/2010 10 Night Mediterranean

Thank you Heather and Heidi! I'm impressed with all of the work you both are doing and appreciate it! Love the logo and that we can buy the shirts from Cafe Press and they look great. Heidi, I tried to get add our family on roll call but am getting an error. I am not sure if it's just me (and it very well could be!) but I looked around the web and saw a few comments about the site you are using and that there might be a limit in the number of posts per month? Just thought I would mention it and see if that's the issue. The site looks wonderful though and hopefully I'll figure out a way to access it. :)

Hey Missourimomof6! Thanks for that info. I will check into it! It is a free website so I bet I do have to upgrade to get more posts per month. I will add my email address to the site so you can email me the info until I can figure this all out.
I'm so excited! I need to make my final payment today!!
Thanks again!

This looks superb, we are a family of three from the UK and it would be great to meet others etc
I have already linked up with one other family so far to share two day excursions to save money!
I will fill in the form later as at work now and need the cabin number and photo to post from home.

Ok, I think I figured out the website. I had to take off the upload button to add a picture. I am only allowed 3 uploads a month for free! So I changed around the form and you can email me your picture or image instead of uploading it on the website! Let me know if you have any problems. Can't wait to start adding to our Roll Call!!

I plan to add the logo and link to CafePress soon! Stay Tuned!

Thanks Heidi for the great website, and Heather for the cool logo and being FE coordinator. If I had read back a few pages, I would have figured that out! If anyone is interested in doing a Dismeet to do a gift exchange, I'm thinking the first sea day would be good. Since the ship does not leave Barcelona till later in the evening, I'm thinking some people may check in, then go back off the ship to tour Barcelona for a few hours. At least that's our plan! Of course, people should and I'm sure will start meeting up even in the terminal before boarding. I was able to meet up with several families in the terminal on our last cruise because I could recognize them from their photos. In addition, those who may be coming in a day or 2 earlier to Barcelona may want to meet up beforehand. Just another thing to consider so Heidi, maybe add that to the website too (pre-cruise Barcelona stay). We are doing a 3 day Paris stay pre-cruise. Maybe we can even add a Paris info link! Heidi, am I asking too much? My mind is circling with all the ideas, excursions, anticipation...

I think the website is great!
We are getting into Barcelona prob on the 23rd and going to Paris after!
We havent booked a hotel yet but maybe we can make a meet somewhere before the cruise.
I like the gift idea too and would do that.
We are going to do the lanyards so can make a meet in the terminal and or in the lounge on ship before we leave so i can pass them out!
We havent picked any excursions yet.....im with sinnika, mind is racing LOL
Good thing im off to work....had a bad night last night and just kept thinking Barcelona,Italy and France.... you can do it!

We are staying at the Holiday Inn Express on the 25. We still do not have flights planned, I am still hoping for some "sales".

Which Holiday Inn--the expensive one or the inexpensive one by the train?
I think we may book there...any body know anything about it?

We are going crazy with the airfare prices...I think we'll be going from
Austin, TX to Houston to save $$

Thank you, thank you, thank you! for the planners...we'll get into the sign
up in the next few days!

I'm definitely in on the DisMeet with a fun gift exchange. We have several people already signed up on the website. First Day of Sea is good with me! I will add a Pre-Cruise Page--anyone up for organizing that? We come in on the 25th at 9am and plan to do the double decker Barcelona tour and then Las Ramblas, dinner and bed. We will be doing a 3 night stay in Paris after the cruise! I will see what I can come up with for a Paris link as well. My mind is swimming as well--it's exhausting but so much fun! Just made my final payment. I wish I would have added a "where are you from" on the roll call entry form--oh well, I guess we can figure that out at the first DisMeet.
Did I mention how excited I am??:)

Exactly what is the lanyard--I mean I know what a lanyard is, just curious how this works. Do we pay you for them? How do you want to arrange payment? Thanks so much!

DD and I finally sat down and looked at all the excursions for the Med. We picked these:

Malta: City of Knights
Tunisia: The Bardo, Medina, Carthage and sidi bou said
Naples: Pompeii, sorrento and capri for families
Rome: The best of rome
La Spezia: Florence and Michangelo
Villefranche: Highlights of Monaco and Monte Carlo

OK, there's no turning back now! (not that we would!:lmao:) We just booked with British Airways flying out of Houston to Paris ,then Barcelona to Houston for $844 pp (all taxes included). Now, I need to book another night in Paris :woohoo: Can't wait! Its getting so real!!! My DD (the superplanner) wants to shop and pack over spring break! :rolleyes:princess:

I love your DD! I'm the superplanner in our family! So excited! I have added some new links to the website so check it out! I've also added a currency converter and a countdown!

OK, for all of you interested in doing the Private palo brunch, I will need from you ASAP the following: your names and your reservation #. You can either PM me with the info or email me directly at: tainapo@comcast.net

Here's how the private brunch works: the room holds up to 14 people in a private dining area. The last time we did it, our time was around 10am. I think they only book one group per brunch. This is an adults only dining and there is a dress code (no shorts). Capris are fine but men will need to wear slacks and nice shirt (no tie required for brunch). Cost is $15 pp plus tip.

As soon as I get 14 people, I will send the info in. I will also start a waitlist in case we have any drop outs. I am going to request the 2nd sea day (June 4th) as the first choice (by then we will know each other from the Dismeets and sharing excursions - we'll be old friends by then!:grouphug: ) The 2nd choice will be the 1st sea day (May 27th). I would like to do a Dismeet that day so hoping we get the 2nd sea day.

Just some things to consider: there will also be a character brunch on this cruise (usually offered on 3 different sea days on cruises of 7 days or longer).
DCL could not tell me which day the third day might be. If you are 1st dining, your character breakfast will be early, but if you are 2nd dining, it may conflict with the Palo brunch time if you have kids that want to go to the character breakfast. Of course, if your kids are older, they could go on their own, or you could have one spouse go to the character breakfast and the other to Palo if there is a conflict. However, you will not know your dining rotation until you board the ship. Our last brunch, several of the husbands did not come (they didn't want to dress up!, No, really!)

Keep in mind that if we get the Private palo brunch, if you have made another Palo brunch reservation, that other reservation will cancel out. DCL will contact me 25-30 days prior to sail date. Their rule is that you can only have one Palo brunch, one high tea and one dinner per cruise pre-booked. Of course you can always try for a second one after you board. Last cruise, the high tea was barely filled. Of course with lots of Europeans cruising, this might be more popular!

So here is my suggestion - go ahead and also make a Palo brunch ressie when your window opens up.
The brunch is fabulous and one of the harder ressies to get since it is only offered on sea days.

Here is some other info about making those bookings for dining/excursions/spa. I just got these dates from DCL:
The booking window opens up at midnight (eastern time) for the following:
Platinum (more than 10 cruises) and concierge: Jan 26th
Gold (6-10 cruises): Feb 10th
Silver (1-5 cruises): Feb 25th
New cruisers: March 12th

So for example, my booking time window opens at 11pm on Feb 24th. Can't wait for the countdown! I'm already tasting those crab legs and chocolate souffle from Palos!:cloud9:

Also, if you meet friends and want to share a table when dining, I recommend linking your ressies AFTER you have made your dining/excursion/spa ressies. Still plenty of time, but won't interfere with your other ressies. Tables can hold as much as 18 people. Last time we had a group of 9. We rotated seats to sit next to different people each time!

I think that's all for now! Looking forward to getting the Palo brunch bunch list!:cheer2:

Exactly what is the lanyard--I mean I know what a lanyard is, just curious how this works. Do we pay you for them? How do you want to arrange payment? Thanks so much!

Well final payment is made ! YAY!!!!

The lanyard is just a lanyard but were going to put on the nametag part the logo with dis name and real name so when we see each other we know each other and it kind of makes us stand out!

Tom and I can pay for these ( we can get a box of 100 in plain colors very reasonable). Last time people put the logo on the rope part and that was expensive so if people just want the plain ,Tom and I will do that no problem.
These are not only nice for knowing each other but you can carry your key to the world card in them and ID. I just need everyone that wants ones dis names and individual names, even the kids. I scrapbooked my PC one at the end.

People have been replying to me and thats great, keep them coming so we can figure out the teams.

Thanks, sinnika for doing the brunch. I had no clue how to do that! Please add Tom and I for the brunch !
OMG I cant believe were at 4 months ( doing the happy dance LOL)4
There is 5 of us and were having hard time with Barcelona hotels so we may do a apt there for 3 days and rent car to get around.
Lets plan a meet there somewhere for the 25th??? Dinner? Ok whos planning that? LOL
Working on a scavenger hunt plan with maybe some small prizes that families could enter but I dont want to drag it out because I know how busy it gets and people wanting to relax.

Ok I owe I owe so off to work I go.....
Have a good night everyone!

Heather

Just an fyi for any families still looking for a hotel stay in Barcelona. JoandWayne let me know about a Novotel Hotel that is opening up March 1st with some terrific rates. We only needed one room at the Novotel versus the two rooms we had at U232. So I cancelled the U232 and booked the new Novotel and saved over $200USD--now I can get that massage on the cruise I've been wanting! :cool1: So if you are interested and need a hotel try here: http://www.novotel.com/gb/hotel-5560-novotel-barcelona-city-opening-1st-march-2010/index.shtml

Hi Everyone:yay:

I rarely come onto DIS - I normally spend time on the UK version, the DIBB.

There are not many UK people that I know of who are going on this cruise so it is great to find so many of you who are going. I am looking forward to enjoying the next few months planning with you all. :cool1:

Hi Everyone,

I have added several links to the website, one of which is information on how the check-in process at the Barcelona port will work. I found this information very helpful. Of course, I found it on another post on the disboards (I just love this board!!) Anyways, if you would like to know how check-in and embarkation in Barcelona will work, head on over to http://muchomagico.weebly.com/ and click on the links. Let me know if you would like me to add other links as well!!
