May 26, 2010--5/26/2010 10 Night Mediterranean

OK, after much research and help from you all, I have all our tours planned in all the ports! Yeah!!

We're off tomorrow for San Antonio for a week, but when I get back I'll be right back at planning. Still need to find out and read on facebook all about excursion bags, changing dollars to Euros, etc, etc, etc...

I am getting beyond excited here!!!!

Good job, Joanna! That must be a huge relief!

Have fun in San Antonio, we are just a few hours away from there. Try Mi Tierra's restaurant if you get a chance! They have a wonderful bakery and it is such a fun atmosphere!!

That's funny! :rotfl2:
You may be after this cruise, we'll see.

Do all of the anniversary celebrants have 2nd dining? (We do.) If so, maybe we could arrange a meeting/group party one evening in one of the clubs after dinner. That could be a lot of fun. Great idea Debra! :thumbsup2

we have first too....maybe we could sneak you in!

Oh BTW, we are disneyfied NOW..just not 25 years ago!

Thanks, everyone...it's a huge relief!! Now I can enjoy our Texas trip a little more! LOL

Is Mi Tierra's in San Antonio? Not sure what we're doing yet. My daughter's bf is graduating from AF BMT, so we are kind of at the mercy of his family and their plans. Will be nice to let someone else take charge for a change! LOL

Mi Tierra's is in San Antonio in an area called the Mercado, (or Market, for the gringos LOL). La Margaritas is also over there too and is very good. Its a few blocks away from the Riverwalk. There is a tourist bus to take you between the Riverwalk and the Mercado, or you could walk it too. The Riverwalk has tons of great restaruants. One of my favorite places is Dicks Last Resort. Lots of places to eat down there, and of course you will have to see the Alamo.
Hey, if you make it to Houston on your visit, we are having a Dismeet this Saturday at the Galleria (big shopping mall). If there are any other lurkers that want to come, PM me and I'll fill you in on place and time! :goodvibes

I was on www.cruisecal.com to see what other ships were in ports the days we are on the cruise. Looks like we are the only ship in our ports from May 26-June 3rd exept for Civitavecchia on May 31st where there is one other ship -the Ventura. However, on June 5th when we dock in Barcelona, there will be 3 other cruise ships docked as well! The Crystal Serenity, the Crystal Symphony and the Sovereign. This is the first time I have used this site, so I am not sure how to tell if these ships are disembarking too or just visiting the port. Do any cruise experts out there know? In any case, looks like it will be a busy morning for the port.

Probably the only way to tell is to check the websites for Crystal and the Sovereign to determine whether these are arrivals or departures.

That's not really a busy day in Barcelona. The two cryatal ships are not real large and even with the Soverign that wouldn't equal a voyager class ship. Last year we had three other big ships with us and it worked out fine. I looked on CruiseTT and they also show the Island Escape in Naples with us. We have found the sights that list other ships in port to be fairly accurate but there may be another lesser known cruise ship in port too.

Good to know. I thought it would make it harder to get taxis in the morning and touring Las Ramblas and the Barcelona sites on the 5th would be more crowded. Thanks for the feedback. :goodvibes

Hi Everyone,
We're back from a 7 night med cruise on "Splendour of the Seas" Barcelona, Villefranche, Rome, Naples, Corfu, Split and Venice. We stayed in Madrid for two nights before the cruise and in Venice for two nights after the cruise.

We had a good time despite fighting sore throats. The ship's air was so dry which didn't help. I loved Villefranch (went to Monaco) and Split, Croatia where we really enjoyed the old town. Those were the two new places for me. Venice, was spectacular but a bit cold.
By May the weather should be just perfect. April was a bit cold in most places. We were the first big ship to come through for the season.

Anyway, Caleb just turned 6 yesterday!! We had a little family party for him last night.

Here is a link to him blowing out the candles. The kitchen is a mess and the table has his presents spread everywhere. I should think about these things before we videotape! I'm usually very neat. Anyway, sorry for the mess.

His party will be on April 24. It's a "Finding Nemo" party.

We have been assigned cabin 2102.
I'll try to catch up on the posts.

You are so cute Jennifer! and you have a great voice too! You won't hear me singing "happy birthday" on youtube! ha!

My daughter just turned 13 on April 10 and we are having her party on the 24th as well. It will be a swim party and sleep over. Now that my girls are teenagers, they don't want a themed party:confused3 I love doing a theme and tried to get her to do a Chinese themed party so I could make candy sushi, but she wanted no part in it :sad2:!

So glad you had a great time on your cruise! Only 6 more weeks til your next one:thumbsup2

You have a very nice voice, Jennifer! I loved the part of the video where he counts the candles. So cute! Glad you'll be 2 doors down from me on the Magic... I sing a little in my choir at temple, so if you hear somebody singing in the shower, you'll know who it is.

Both of my kids (and me) have birthdays coming up in May. We may plan Jared's around "Iron Man II." (Last year it was "Star Trek.") Jocelyn wants to take about 8 of her girlfriends to dinner and have them all dress up in 80s attire. At what point do we get to stop having big parties? :dance3:

Birthday video is sweet, I agree. Reminds me of my chlidren at that age.

Hi Heidi,
It's funny we'll be duing parties on the same day for our kids. Hope your daughter has a wonderful time at hers. Caleb is having only one boy and four girls. His Kindergarten class is almost all girls and he seems to get along better with them so oh well. Girls are easier to handle so I'm happy.

Oh, I bought the rest of my FE gifts while on my trip.
Yes- only SIX WEEKS! I am so excited!! Jennifer

Hi Karen,
May is a very important month for your family! Happy B-day to you all!!
It cracks me up to think of people dressing up in 80's attire! I liked the 80's.
Thanks for the compliment. I'm glad you like singing and music too. I used to direct the choir at church. I also play the piano and violin. I'm teaching a few piano students here. My most important little piano student is CALEB! Finally, he is cooperating with me and willing to let me teach him. We just have very short lessons. This is a breakthrough because he fought me for so long about music- refusing most of the time. I backed off for awhile. I used to teach music and movement to young children and I felt so frusterated that he didn't want to be in my classes. Anyway, glad we'll be neighbors on the cruise.:yay: Jennifer

TammyAlphabet.....where did you go to order your tickets for the Vatican and Collosium? Did you specify what times you wanted at the Vatican? I'm going to pre-order ours to...just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Jennifer....cute video of your son's birthday! Enjoyed it! :wizard:
