May 26, 2010--5/26/2010 10 Night Mediterranean

Lakerz5, Our three sons are about the same ages (mine will be 15, 13, 12 on the cruise). This will be our first cruise. I would be interested in knowing what kind of things your boys have enjoyed on the ship, etc. I am worried that mine are going to OD on history and get bored.

For our family, it is all about the boys meeting different people from different places. We live in the boonies, so I'm always asking them while on a cruise where "everyone they meet" is from. Others get to learn from my kids and they get to learn about others.

The 17 year old and 15 year old are music junkies. My oldest is a DJ with his own business and works HS dances, reunions and weddings. He makes sure that the teen club has dance parties with all the latest music.:rotfl2: I (make):scared1: encourage all three to do the karaoke at least once since they all sing. The youngest is perfectly content swimming, watching movies on board and hanging out in the kids groups.

Our last 2 cruises were in July with loads of US kids from all over and Disney Stars were all over on the last July cruise. It didn't surprise me that my oldest ended up in one of their suites trading music and eating chicken nuggets from room service one night. Our first cruise was in the month of May and they made friends with more International kids (india, S. Africa and Israel, etc) which was really fun as well since less US kids are out of school in late May.

They all have been warned that there may be less teens total on this cruise, but we are traveling"for the culture". When you have to travel by bus 5 hours and across a time zone just to get to a HS swim meet, you need a little culture:rotfl: I dont' care if they are bored:rolleyes1, they are going to Africa:thumbsup2

I think yours will be fine:thumbsup2

I have been reading in another thread that people got a letter today getting $100 per person onboard credit. did anyone get this?

Went and checked mail. Sure enough there was a letter "thanking" us for choosing DCL with $100 on board credit per person ...that's $500 for us:cool1: Maybe we can afford an excursion now....:rotfl2:

I am soooo excited about this too. We got our today and I was thinking Thank You DCL for the awesome Christmas gift. I like good surprises... Now i just wish the Airline price Fairy would make a special visit. I just need airfare.

Got ours too! What a nice suprise! Now just hoping for some bargain airfare and this will be the best deal cruise ever! :goodvibes

Just got that letter from DCL that we got a credit for each of us in the cabin... I was going to switch the res over to our travel agent, but don't want to lose the credit! Hmmm, guess I'll call them and see what's up!

Hi,

For those who have received the 100$ letter, are you booked with DCL directly ? I just booked recently with travelagent but I have not received
any of such letter.
Also, does the letter say why they are offering you the 100$ OBC ?
Just wondering whether we qualify.. we just have a cat12 room so maybe
that's why we don't qualify ???
BTW, can you see the OBC reflected anywhere in your ressie if you logon
in DCL ? I just logged on to see but something seems strange with my ressie.... I even can't find out about the payment details on it.
Does anyone know this : if paid in full... will this be shown on your ressie ???

thanks for any answers...

It will indicate that it is paid in full. On page where it has the listing of cruise fares it will list a balance of zero.
I am so excited about the OBC as well. At first I thought that is was a credit per state room and then I read it again and realized it was per person per state room. I was thrilled!

I'm booked with a TA. We had a cat 6 but downgraded to a cat 12 on Nov 25th for the great rate. I had to pay a higher deposit (another $600) but at least my cruise is more than 50% paid. I owe another $1000 or so. I got the letter yesterday for the $100 credit per person. There's a thread on the main cruise board about the letter. Someone had called DCL and was told cruise had to be booked by Nov 27th?. I have not checked my ressie yet for the OBC. Even if I didn't get the credit, I'm still so pshyced about the cat 12 rates!!! We're in the middle of building out a new office for DH and have tons of expenses due over the next month. This cruise may not have happened for us had those excellent cat 12 rates not come out! Thank you DCL!!!! :goodvibes

Oh.... too bad for me...... I booked on the 27th....so that's why
I have not received the letter......
Anyway.... chances are that they are going to further discount
the cruise prices... worthwile keeping an eye on it....

I just received an email to upgrade our cruise to an adventures by disney cruise experience. Has anyone else received this? It says to call for pricing but I'm afraid I'll laugh and then pass out when I hear how much it is.

That sounds interesting... let us know what you find out! If I get that email, I'll let you know what I find out!

D~

I got the email and called TA. Figured it was worth the laugh, espically with all it included (excursions, tips, Palo, and more). Are you ready for this $2399 each!!!! That's more than the cruise! Sorry DCL, but we will stick to the basics!

OK... so getting nervous about flights. Do I book now to the tune of $1200. per ticket or wait a bit and see if prices drop? I've never "shopped" tickets before, so am a bit unsure. Someone! Please advise!!!

I figured it was some insanely outrageous price. Thanks for the info :goodvibes

It is been a while since I visited this board.
We also got our Disney onboard credit letter, I was shocked.:hyper: We are soo happy about the news. Thank you for the info on adventures by Disney. I did not called because I figure out it was going to be ridiculous expensive.
I have a question for whoever wants to aswer it.
Who do I put my cruise countdown banner in my postings? Also how do I put a Disney character on my profile like I have seen everybody doing?
and please keep it simple, I only know the basics on computers.:surfweb:
THANK YOU

Boy, I haven't checked the boards in awhile--it is so good to see so many new members to the May 26th cruise. ThreeBrits, thanks so much for taking care of the fish extenders--I am definitely in on that!

Just FYI for those of you who may not have received the shipboard credit letter. I did not receive one yet, but I called Disney Cruise Line today and it has been applied to my ressie--so excited!!!

Now I'm looking at all the great shore excursions, can't wait to book those!!

Merry Christmas to All!!!
