I was on early this morning and kept getting the message that reserveration system was down. Tried again a few minutes ago and was told that the system could not process my request. Very frustrating as this is our first cruise with Disney and have never had a problem booking shore excursions on other lines.

Okay, I know what time is says to be there to get on the ship. However, the last DCL we took we arrived way earlier and were able to get on a lot earlier than they said we could. AND.....there were a ton of people already on board.

Does being a CC member let us get on earlier? Then we can all head for Palo ressies? :confused3

Just thought I'd ask...LOL....yes, I'm one of those Obsessive Planners!pirate:

Don't give up hope yet. There will be reservations available when you get on the ship. There are 11 nights and they only allow people (other than concierge) to only book one reservation until everyone has a chance to get one reservation. :goodvibes

Thanks for the info. I was under the impression that those who had cruised before were allowed to book as many times as they wanted. While I agree that those who have already been should be able to have first dibs I was kind of surprised that Disney would allow people to book as often as they wanted. Now I realize that I have been misinformed. Although, I did call Disney to double check and the girl was so rude. I was very disapointed. I mean we spend all this money and then get a rude person on the phone. Geez.

Anyway, I will be the girl running through the ship once we get on to get a resevation. How do they decide what order we board the ship? Do we get a time or something? Any secret ways to get to Palo faster? :) Thanks to all for your help.

Jeni,

Last time we cruised, we went to the Guest Relations Desk, and they told us where the sign-ups were. (Although I didn't go - I didn't know it was that great.) We did pass the line and it was maybe a 10 min. wait, if that. I think it depends on when you board. I stood there with a friend, and she pretty much got what she wanted. There are several bars, or clubs close to the desk and they had sign-ups for different things in each one. Sometimes sign-ups for several things in each one.

They may know where they'll be when they announce you on the ship too! :yay:

BTW...if the person you talked to on the phone was that rude, ask to speak to her Lead or Supervisor. It's not the Disney way, and they would want to know that that lady wasn't being professional (Just advice from a former cast member.)

I hate to be a pest about this, but as you may or may not know, a group of us have joined together to provide free name badges and lanyards for everyone who posts on this thread. However, in order to get these name badges and lanyards, we need the first names of the people in your group.

Now, if you really don't want to participate - that's OK - just let me know so I will quit asking about the names. I just want to make sure that anyone who is interested in the name badges and lanyards don't miss out.

With the late ports of call, it is possible Palo will end up with a lot of cancellations this time. I may be cancelling mine (I won't cancel it though, I'll offer it to someone here first and then cancel if no one wants it).

Also, I just talked to someone at Disney Cruise Lines who said that they haven't completely decided what they are doing with dinners yet. And the shows. With all the late ports of call, they are thinking that many people will miss early dining and Deck 9 will have a lot of traffic. They are supposed to be making a final decision in the next week or so.

Being a CC member does not get you on earlier. Being in concierge will though. This embarkation is going to be different. They said we cannot board until 1:00 pm, but we can drop off luggage earlier and go back to explore the city. We can also get on the ship once embarkation starts and leave again after that.

I will be running along there with you. Perhaps we can create a diversion and get to the front of the line .... LOL

What a frustrating experience! I tried for a quite a long time to get into the system and once I did I couldn't book anything. I waited an hour, went back and I was able to book most of what I wanted as far as excursions go. I never did book anything in Florence. Perhaps I might consider a private tour. Did anyone end up doing that? No availability at Palo's. Something might open up once one the cruise, but from the reading all of the posts. I am in doubtful. Good luck to everyone else.

I am doing a private tour in Florence through a company- they charge by the car and I am more than happy to pass on the name. Someone else asked for the information- perhaps they would be interested in forming a group with you if you don't have enough people.

Don't forget handicapped - they also board first!

Are they going to hand out boarding groups like they do in Port Canaveral? If so, those looking for ressies might want to arrive early at the port to get an early boarding group.

T- how is the weather up there? It is a balmy 62 degrees here- I drove around today with the sun roof open and the windows down. :rotfl: However, it is supposed to snow here on Thursday or Friday.

I have finals tomorrow....:scared1:
