May 25th, 2008 West Coast - Mexico

Hi Disers
Well all our kids are grown, in fact our 17DD was going to come on the trip but would rather go back to FL to visit her BFF. Kids are great on the ship and I think your oldest will love the club on the ship.. I would not be surprised if you did not even see your older child most of the cruise with all the activities for them.. Time for you guys so that when you check them in and you get your pager you can also relax and become a child in your own rights.. AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHH take a tour of the spa and go to the rain forest for a refreshing time..Or work out in the gym area overlooking the bridge...James and D.Anne

I hope that you still have one from your previous west coast cruise, as if you do maybe you could e-mail a copy of them. Of course we do not want to miss the party for castaway cay members as I did ask and the rep said wven withought going to the cay they still give the gifts and still have the meet.
Oh, hadn't thought of that - I'll go take a peek as soon as I get a chance to see if I have it.

If you have the concierge you could also set up a bruch in Palo's--with 10 members we can have the back room for the brunch like we did last cruise..AAArrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhh.pirate:
James
Palo's would be nice, but I would like to give the kids a chance to meet also and make friends. Although I guess we could try and do that on the first day by the Mickey pool or something. Does the back room at Palo's only hold 10 or the minimum is 10 and it can hold more? I'm asking, because I hosted a party on our Hawaiian cruise and we had over 30 people attend.

Does anyone else here have small kids? Our kids will be 4 and almost 7 (turning 7 on the trip).
I'm traveling with (2) 5 year old girls (one my daughter and the other my granddaughter), and my 12 year old son.

The party sounds fun, but without knowing what else is going on, it'd be hard to RSVP!

Small children here too:lovestruc DD7:cutie: and DD5:cutie: This is our second cruise with Disney. Our first was in 05'.
Looking forward to meeting you:goodvibes

Hi all you DISers
The back room can hold more than 10 and we had only 8 show up for the brunch, but it sure was nice.. Something with eveyone and the kids would be nice also.. The pool area prior to sailing will be very crowded unless it is cold as they have the sail away party at embarkation.. There is an area on deck 10 that also has a bar for adults but also you can purchase soda or go to the drink bar by the pool area for a fill up.. Either way we don't have to have a seperate meet and greet except what you have proposed on the firat day at sea(Monday at 3:0pm or 1500 hours aaaarrrrhhhhhhhh matey's.. RSVP to Cabelleros about the get together and exchage. Also door tag would be good as we decorate the door with magnets and pictures.. James and D.Anne.
DW birthday today:cake:

I got this information from this other thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1707671 but the schedule seems to shake out as follows.

Day 1 Embarkation - Casual
Day 2 At Sea - Formal
Day 3 Cabo San Lucas - Casual
Day 4 Mazatlan - Casual
Day 5 Puerto Vallarta - Pirate Night pirate: Aaarrr I'm ready for a bit plunder and mayhem
Day 6 At Sea - Semi-Formal
Day 7 At Sea - Casual
Day 8 Disembarkation - dragging me kicking and screaming from the ship

So, now knowing that Formal night is on the same night I was going to have a wine reception/get together at 3:00pm (sheesh, why didn't DCL check with me first :lmao:), I'm wondering if I should change the time so we have a bit more time to get spiffed up for formal night. I would still like to have it on Monday so we can meet and greet early in the cruise, but I'm worried that those with early (main) dining will be rushed with Formal Night. So, how about 1:30pm or 2:00pm instead?

Personally, I'm glad that formal night is towards the beginning of the cruise - hopefully, it means I can still fit in my dress! :rotfl:

Is anyone else dressing up for pirate night? We have our costumes ready to go, and are SO excited. Funny story, in 2005 DD was only 2.5 and while we were getting into the spirit of things with "Aaarrrr, me matey's" and "Aaarrr, me hearty's" - her line that sent us into fits of laughter everytime was "Aaarrr me kitty's" - especially when she would wink one eye and twist her mouth up to one side to say it in true pirate fashion!

:welcome: Sending you a group hug :grouphug: and lots of good wishes :wizard: on your son's surgery! Our thoughts are with you and your family, let us know how the little guy does, and keep happy thoughts of our fab cruise coming up!

It might be just me, but it seems like we have quite the plethora of girls around the 4 - 6 age range on this cruise! It's going to be quite the princess cruise with the girls running the ship and just enough pirates to keep them in check. ;)

We should get our kids together! My daughter will be turning 7 on the cruise (on the 29th! Pirate night!) and my son turns 4 at the end of April this spring.

We live in Arizona, so we will have a similarly long 7 hour drive.

Thank you MousseauMob for the kind words. Will keep you updated and will be online a lot after the surgery since he needs at least 1-2 month no activitie indoor play.(Time to whip out disney movies)

Jenny W,...I think it would be great to get the kids together! Its great that they are the same age ranges especially since they can participate in the same activities. My daughter is turning 6 April 23 and my son will be 4 March 11. We are celebrating on the ship since my son will not be well in time for a party and since their birthdays are so close to the cruise then we will just save up to celebrate on the cruise. I am so ready to go! I can't wait. Now the cruise is even better.

Hello all:cool1:
The time of the meet being earlier would be great. (Any time is a good time for an excuse to Paaaaaaarty aaarrrrrhhhh). Hey we are going to be in a cat 10 ourselves this time and we are looking forward-or aft to it (maybe even a hidden view on deck 5).. You and your family will be in our prayers that the surgery will come out fine-does he have a valve problem? Fallou? I am also a retired Firefighter/Paramedic and will keep an eye out with you.. As of right now we have 1st seating but, hope to change to second once on the ship..I am not advertising for but also I am a member of passporter.com and if any of you didn't know they are coming out with thier new DCL book in March, so you can check it out and get thier free newsletter at this location. We found a lot of useful info last time we cruised and yes they will have the western riviera cruise info and excursions listed GTK..:grouphug: ..Jamespirate:

Thank you James.
My son has a heart tumor right now that is near the main artery/vein and right now it is pressing on it and slowing the blood flow. I was hoping that it could wait till after the cruise in June or July but they need to do it this month.
This is my second cruise. My first was with no kids and it was on Royal Caribbean weekend cruise so these two cruises are like night and day. Does anyone really get insurance? I am still undecided and need to get it before it is to late. Also is first and second seating the same? We only got second seating since the first was all booked up. I know the second seating is later and I have night owl kids. Glad the activitie center is open late.

hI ALL
Hi Nicole
Sorry to hear about this but he should come out fine.because pediatric heart surgery has come a long way. As far as the insurance goes it might be worth it for you due to your circumstance. On the other hand some of the insurers do stipulate some pre-existing conditions as disqualifiers.. You would definately need to check with whoever you go with. There are several different companies that you can find to insure with.. I have pre-existing conditions and it doesn't pay for us to get the coverage.. Looking forward to hearing more from you and your family -- OOPs almost forgot so say that we would be more than apt to change dinner time if I can swing it with customer service..James-ffhawg

I would love to meet up with any other families that have children 5-7 years old.
We have a 6 year old son who loves neeting friends on board.
