May 25th, 2008 West Coast - Mexico

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! It's been a while since I've checked in. I've been busy with my other meets thread. We leave 2 weeks from Friday and all of a sudden I'm in panic mode: do I have enough clothes, getting door signs made, plans for port days... It's a bit overwhelming as this is our first cruise. Thank goodness for the DIS :thumbsup2 . I'm obsessed too MousseauMob! !
Oh, I'm so glad I'm not the only one obsessed! :rotfl: Don't forget to share pic's with your cruise buddies when you get back so we can live vicariously through you! popcorn::

MousseauMob-we got the confirmation and the postcard too! Sorry, I don't have an answer to your questions but have you tried calling the parks to order the Disney Dollars? On one trip my DH saw something he wanted to buy for me but wanted it to be a surprise so he called Disneyland after we got back and ordered it. Good luck!
Thanks for the idea, I hadn't even thought of calling Disneyland. You would not believe what eBay has these for!

I worked out the tuxedo issue by buying him one. They had a new 5 piece set for less than 30 dollars, that will fit him a couple of years - hard to pass that up!

For anyone that did the cruise or knows of people that did the cruise in 2005 - what excursions did you/they do? What did you/they like and what didn't you/they like?

:surfweb:

Add us too-we have been on three Wonder cruises but never on the Magic, and it's been a few years. It will be myself, my DH, and DD who will be 11 by then. Is it too early to be excited-because we are, at least DD and I! :cool1:

:welcome: Welcome aboard Sj&K:party: We are excited about this cruise too! will be the first time that I don't have to purchase airline tickets:cool1:  The Magic is so beautiful...your gonna love it!:wizard:

Good morning fellow cruisers:flower3:

I am so excited this morning as I just found out my sister booked the Grand Californian for a two night stay this weekend::yes:: ...Disneyland here we come:banana: celebrating my son, Riley's 5th Birthday.

He will be 5 day after Valentines day...I also deserve a celebration since I had to give birth to him!! He was three weeks early and 12.1 lbs:scared: :faint:
So how was Disneyland and the Grand Californian? You really must share with your cruise buddies! Did you have a wonderful time?

For anyone that did the cruise or knows of people that did the cruise in 2005 - what excursions did you/they do? What did you/they like and what didn't you/they like?
Okay, I'll start! :lmao: These are the excursions we did in 2005.

Paradise Beach Adventure (4 hours)
Paradise found! A ride of approximately 20 minutes takes you to the beautiful Paradise Village Beach Resort in Nuevo Vallarta, where you'll be welcomed with a complimentary cocktail. Then you're free to simply relax on the beach or explore and enjoy the resort's many offerings, including a swimming pool with two waterslides, underwater caves and Mayan- style pyramids to explore. Lounge chairs, umbrellas, and ocean kayaks are included, and children and families can enjoy beach volleyball and other activities, or visit the resort's resident spider monkeys, lions and tigers. Snacks and lunch items are available for an additional charge. It's a half-day of fun before the approximate 20-minute ride back to the ship.

Adult Price: $38 Excursion Reserved for 7:40am time
Child Price: $22
Departure Times: 7:40 am, 12:40 pm

Mazatlán Beach Escape (4 - 5.5 hours)
An all-around good time! Bring your swimsuit and beach gear for an excursion that takes you to the Mazatlan waterfront for fun in the sun and a memorable meal. It all starts with a scenic ride of approximately 20 minutes to Los Sabalos Resort, where a friendly escort will introduce you to the hotel's amenities, provide you with towels and a place to change for an afternoon of swimming, sunning and relaxing, including a delicious Mexican lunch. After 2.5 - 4 hours at the resort, you may choose from two departure times for the approximate 20-minute ride back to the ship.

Adult Price: $49 Excursion Reserved for 9:00am time
Child Price: $39
Departure Times: 9:00 am

Cabo Resort Pool Getaway (4.5 - 5 hours)
Totally cool! An approximate 10-minute ride takes you to the Finisterra Resort, one of Cabo San Lucas' premier beachfront resorts. Here, you'll have approximately 3.5 hours to swim in the resort's pools, stroll along the beach, and savor a hearty buffet lunch and two complimentary beverages. While swimming in the ocean is not permitted, you'll be able to enjoy the resort's sparkling pools or catch some rays on the beach. Children will also enjoy craft time, when they'll have a chance to paint traditional ceramic figurines to take home as souvenirs of their day of fun under the sun. Beach games, including volleyball and soccer, are also available, so get ready to have a ball! The ride back to the ship takes approximately 10 minutes.

For the safety of our guests, swimming in the ocean is not permitted due to varying tidal conditions. If you prefer a beach swim experience, you may choose the Cabo Beach Break excursion (CL-01).

Adult Price: $49 Excursion Reserved for 9:35am time
Child Price: $39
Departure Times:
14N Westbound & 7N West Coast: 9:35 am
14N Eastbound: 10:35 am

Husband at the time - but now ex did the following. (BTW, he's not an ex because of the excursion - :rotfl: )

Cabo San Lucas Sportfishing Excursion (5.5 - 6 hours)
Hook, line and sinker! This deep-sea fishing adventure will lure novices and seasoned anglers alike to one of the world's top sportfishing destinations. A 28-foot cabin cruiser will take you on an approximate 30-minute ride to a prime fishing spot. Here, the crew will rig fishing lines to trail lures; if fish strike, guests will have a chance to fight and reel in a fish from the fishing chair. A boxed lunch and beverages are included in your approximate 3.5-hour fishing expedition before the approximate 45-minute return to the pier.

The release of all billfish caught is mandatory. Cost of required Mexican fishing license is included; however, a customary tip of $5 - $10 per person is not included in the tour cost.

Adult Price: $169 Excursion Reserved for 7:45am time
Child Price: $NA
Departure Times:
14N Westbound & 7N West Coast: 7:45 am
14N Eastbound: 8:45 am

Welcome to the DISboards! It is most definately not too early to be excited.

Thanks for the excursion info MousseauMob! I have actually been to all three ports on different vacations. Was in Mazatlan in 1989 for college spring break, then Cabo in 12/05 for DH's 40th, and in 3/06 I went to Puerto Vallarta with my mom for an art workshop. I liked Cabo the best. One of the trip highlights was renting waverunners on the beach. We rode for an hour between and around the cruise ships and over to the arch.
In Puerto Vallarta we spent most of our time downtown, shopping, eating, walking along the Malecon (sp?). Didn't get to the beach though. The Paradise Beach Adventure sounds like something my DD's would like. I like to be lazy on vacation. My idea of heaven is lounging by the pool or beach, having cocktails, swimming, napping... :cloud9:

Cabo was our favorite port also - it was just so beautiful. The excursion we did here was nice (our second favorite excursion) - the pools were beautiful the buffet was nice with 2 complimentary Mimosa's or Bloody Mary's - but the real selling point was the staff. The kids did their crafts - which was painting a ceramic figure, and then the staff did pinata's for the kids. One for the girls and one for the boys and they were awesome, teaching them a little song and everything. Sharing pics: ;) BTW, I apologize if I've already shared these!

Paradise Beach was our FAVORITE execursion. The beach was beautiful and we didn't have any vendors on the beach (which was a big improvement over Mazatlan). The playground was fun for the kids and the pool was cool - checkout the snake mouth waterslide! I even did a bit of a pool aerobics class they had. Sharing pics: ;) Same disclaimer as before - if I've already shared these!

Just read the big news about the two new ships and I have all appendages crossed that they place one out west permanently! I can't believe I don't check the boards for a day or two and miss the BIG announcement - I was so shocked when I looked today!

Great idea! We'll just re-book and then keep pushing the ressie back for 3 years:lmao: . I cannot even imagine the frenzy that people will be in trying to book the new ships when the itineraries are released-especially the maiden voyages. It was so crazy on Jan 31st (and the days leading up to it)!

In one week I'll be flying to Orlando and in 8 days I'll see the Magic for the very first time!:cool1:

How Exciting! onlly 8 more days? Have a wonderful trip and be sure to give us a report, if you canpopcorn::

So, enquiring minds want to know. How do you deal with motion sickness? Tried Bonine and it makes me want to sleep the day away. For the most part, I don't think I have too much of a problem with it - I think I worry about it more than I actually experience it, but I'd LOVE to hear what everyone does.

I have never been sea sick on any of my cruises (knock on wood for the one's coming up;). I have heard good times about Dramamine (sp?). Are ya getting ready for that Hawaiian cruise:goodvibes I have heard the seas get a bit rough making the crossing:eek: but should be smooth ride the closer to Hawaii.
