May 25th, 2008 West Coast - Mexico

We're doing the Best of Mazatlan also.We did the Paradise Beach Adventure in 2005 - it was fun. Here's a couple of pics.

Thanks for posting the pics! My girls are excited to see that alligator slide. Those beach chairs under the thatch-roofed umbrellas look mighty nice to me:beach:

Love the pictures 4campers!

I never could decide if it was an alligator or a snake - but whatever it is the pool area was pretty cool. My son was sure it must be Quetzalcoatl. ;) They did a water aerobics class while I was there, which was fun.

The kids also loved the playground and the thatch roofed umbrellas was very nice. One thing we didn't realize while we were there was that a bit further up the beach from where we were sitting they had rentals for boogie boards and stuff. They also didn't have any of the beach peddlers. They had a couple up in the walkways of the resort, but none on the beach like in Mazatlan where they were swarming around. It made it nice and relaxing, I did go peek at some of the stuff on the walkways where they were laid out on tables but they weren't pushy or followed you around - which was really nice.

BTW - loved the picture - cute family!

It seems like I had all the time in the world to get ready and now it seems like the cruise is just around the corner. My dh is a last minute guy so he still has another week and a half to pay off the rest of the money so we are still hoping to at least get the reservation to swim with the dolphins for the kids.
I can finally get things together now that my son is out of surgery. We ended up in the hospital for 5 days. His surgery was 4 hours and he was on the by pass machine for sometime which was the scariest part to me. They couldn't remove his tumor since it is on the inside of the heart and not on the outside so it will just be a sit and watch tumor that will stay or if it grows and blocks the blood even more then he will need a heart transplant. I am so happy that we can just go on a family cruise like this and celebrate his coming out of the surgery. All he wanted when he was out of surgery is his mickey mouse books which he showed to every nurse and doctor around the hospital.
By the way, has anyone seen the store that is a disneyland outlet that travels from city to city? We have one near us that is here for two months and has a bunch of disney stuff that is discounted. The BEST store I have been to and yes I am a shop-o-holic! I think that I could have bought out half of the store! They had a really nice pirates outfit that I will buy for my ds for the pirates night. I want to buy my dd the princess outfits but was wondering if most girls wear them around the ship like they do at disneyland?
Sorry for such a long post...been to long since I posted last

I'm so glad he's out of surgery, and you guys can look forward to an awesome family vacation. What a little cutie to be showing his Mickey Mouse books to everyone!

The store sounds awesome - I wish we would get that out here! I'm SURE this would be their last stop as I'd buy the store out! :lmao:

There are LOTS of little girls in princess dresses on the ship. This cruise we have 2 little princess and we told them they can each bring 2 princess dresses - since they are the same size they'll be able to share and have 4 different outfits all together. The pic's below are from our 2005 cruise.

Hi All:goodvibes
Nicole I am very happy to hear that your son made it out of Surgery, but I am also sad to hear the tumor is on the inside. I know that he will make it through this fine though.. Can't wait to see him on the ship..AAARRRRRHHHHH
I haven't been posting too much on the site lately but it is getting closer and closer.. For us it is 80 days and counting till we fly into LAX and our stay for 3 days at the Grand Californian:rotfl: Hi dee Ho.. Does anyone on this site know if there is a Wal-Mart close to DLR? Thanks to all..JRP

Hello Everyone!!!
We are payed in FULL as of now!!! Time to do the happy dance! The reservation specialist was laughing at me because I was so happy about paying. I told her that I have a last minute hubby who likes to pay close to the due date and I have been looking forward to this cruise for about a yearor so now, seems like forever but is so so so close. We have no clue of our room yet till it gets closer to sailing like a week before or when we arrive so I am a little bummed out. She said we can only get a cat. 11 or "maybe" better. I said "oh please upgrade us" Then again we will be outside of the room probably till we sleep so as long as I have a bed and a tv then I will be happy.
We will be staying a few nights before at the knotts berry farm resort so we wont be so tierd from the drive and since we have a season pass to knotts we can go there. I am hoping to get a good deal on the room because I didnt realize it was memorial day weekend. We will see, I better get things moving.
JRP-i think there is a walmart near disney. I am not sure how far but the address is 440 North Euclid Street Anaheim, CA 92801(714) 491-0744.Hope that helps. I love wal-mart. Coin toss between walmart and target but walmart is 30 minutes from where we live and we need to cross a bridge to get there so it is like a adventure for us.

Nice pics everyone, I Can't seem to upload a pic it will not alllow me to. I can't decide which shore excursion to take, Deciding between horsebackriding on the beach or the taquila tasting, swim with the dolphins.

Is there a lot of people who still stay on the ship instead of taking the excursions? I still think we will have the kids swim with the dolphins in cabos and then just maybe look around a little at each stop and just stay on board.

Where are all of the post of here. Been slow recently. Everyone is already packing?

You could always drink enough tequilla so that you saw dolphins riding horses on the beach! :rotfl: Just kidding, I'm sure whichever you choose will be wonderful and you'll have a great time!

Oh no, I learned my lesson in 2005 when DD was not quite 2. Packing too early just meant a lot of additional re-verification since DD kept taking things OUT of the bags and taking them elsewhere without my knowledge!

I think you could have a great time staying onboard hanging at the pool - it should be relatively uncrowded and very relaxing I'm sure.

We will not be taking excursions this cruise;)

We will take it easy at Cabo. Just stay onboard for a nice breakfast and then head out to Cabo to shop for a bit. Then right back to the ship to swim and relax.

Mazatlan, we are hoping to go to the water park, but it's a bit far to get to, so not sure. We may decide to take the water taxi to Stone Island, which is very easy to get to and has great beaches/food.

Puerto Vallarta, we rented a condo for the day:thumbsup2

I haven't started packing just yet. Just shopping:goodvibes I keep stashing things away however:rotfl: Then when I open the closet, it's like Zoobomafoo, everything falls out:lmao:

But, I'm thinking it will HOT, so we won't need much this trip. Just bathing suits and sundresses:cool2:

It's hard to believe it's almost here!!!

I need to keep all of my stuff in one area. I keep shoping for the trip and place it in multiple spots in the house and I keep finding things and saying...oh, I didnt know that I had that. I just realized that my dh has a dark blue pin stripped suit that he wants to wear for the formal and non formal night. I need to try and talk him into a black suit. Maybe I can go out and do a secret shopping and get him one. He is just very casual with all jeans and tshirts...this is his one chance to dress up. How hot does Mexico get? I am very sensitive to sun so I better buy lots of big hats and lots of sun screen. I am so ready to go now! I will look back at this post when it is a few days before the trip and I will be posting "I am still packing, it is to soon to go"

I did the same thing for our last few cruises! I'd find stuff and had forgotten about it! I always buy things for my girls, extra paper, pencils, coloring etc and then we end up with SO much. Then they NEVER use it! Ha! This time I won't bring any of that. Their happy just swimming or playing ping pong:cheer2:

It can get HOT or humid. Just depends. I'm planning on the 90's for sure. We can only hope for the 80's:goodvibes

There is another thread out there that people are posting on for 'a must bring'. I shouldn't be reading these! They all have great ideas:laughing:
More soon:yay:

It will totally be hot in Mexico. However, it can be downright cold the first and last sea days. At least it was really cool in 2005 during the first Mexico cruise with DCL. I'd bring lots of layers. You can't go wrong with layers!

Have fun,
Jennifer

MousseauMob had told me about this man: MazatlanFrank
He has some really great ideas on his site:woohoo:

Thank you Ellen, he seems very nice and helpful:thumbsup2
No problem, found out how GREAT Frank was in 2005 - he even was on the dock as we pulled in waving and he gave out some t-shirts. We didn't use him for a tour, but others did and raved about him. He was so nice and helpful just answering questions, even if you weren't taking a tour with him.

I got these from Disney's website. It was 80's in 2005. Based on the averages below, that's about where it should be for our cruise this time as well.

When I went on a cruise for the weekend to Mexico, the waters were really rocking the boat. Can this also happen on this cruise. I didnt bring a sea patch when I went and was really feeling sick when I was sleeping and feeling the boat move. If it rocks a little it isnt so bad for me but when the whole boat was moving and you could hardly walk then it was really bad for me! Our room attendant told me to eat a green apple for sea sickness...didnt get a chance to try it but wonder if it really works. I am really worried that the kids might feel ill if that happens. Can kids use the sea patch and I should call their doctor or what can I do. Thanks

I hope you all don't mind me sharing this. It's from our first cruise with Disney and this is our disboards friends! We had a really great group and we still keep our thread going:thumbsup2 Lot's of good laughs still come from this group:rotfl:
