May 25, 2012 - Magical 8-night cruise - NYC to the Bahamas!

:banana::cool1::thumbsup2:yay::dance3::cheer2::grouphug:

:) Go happy for you!!

Okay - well, there is a seperate charge for the waterpark.. I'm looking to pay $169.00 per adult, Caitlin is a little less, unsure as I type this - I forget! :rotfl2:
Little brain dead today!

It's just for the waterpark.. no beach for us, we aren't allowed.. unless they double check you along the way.

That's a thread I'm going to start later on - we are off to Girl Scouts to a Cookie Kickoff ;) Selling GS is on it's way!!!

Off topic again, and I don't want to start a religious debate :) But will anyone on the FE list be offended if you were to receive a cup with Mickey Mouse on it, with a Santa hat? Or McQueen with the same?

I wanted to use them instead of huge bags to put stuff in - eeek, now you know part of your FE gift :))

I just don't want to offend anyone is all ;)

Thanks!
Enjoy - speak later!
We wouldn't be offended by a Santa hat! Sounds cute!

I rec'd information today regarding the bus transportation and bus times.
It says you can go online and book times --- but when I go there and I can't.. Is is because I'm not paid in full?

Hope everyone is okay today :)

I wouldn't be offended by Santa Hats! Think it sounds cute!

Stay warm! It's freezing here in MA.

So as most of you know, we booked this trip for Matthew our son, so that he had something positive to focus on through his 2 brain surgeries, well we just celebrated 3 months from the last surgery, and so far we are seizure free!!!:cool1::cool1: Hopefully by the time of the trip, we will be able to lower his medication which has a huge affect on what we are able to do.

That is such excellent news, Patti. I am so happy for Matthew and all of you.

Georgette, I don't celebrate Christmas, but DH does (and so do DS Robb and his DGF Chelsea).

However, I would definitely *not* be offended by your gift or any gift given with such nice intent. :flower3:

Hi again, Georgette! :upsidedow

No, the reason that we can't book the WDW transportation yet is because our excursion booking window hasn't opened up yet. We can book that at the same time that we can book the other excursions/reservations.

You do have to be paid in full at that time though, to be able to book excursions.

For anyone who has not sailed with DCL before, I think the booking date is the same date as final payment due date. And then for Castaway Club members, we can book according to our club level (silver, gold, platinum). I think my date to be able to book is the end of February, I'll have to check.

I wouldn't be offended by Santa Hats! Think it sounds cute!

We've been so lucky this winter with the weather!! :sunny: Where in MA are you? I'm on the south shore.

:) Okay - don't want to offend, just figured I'd ask.
As for my daughter's school, we can't really do anything holiday related.

:thumbsup2

We are on the RI/MA border in Millville, MA. It's right near North Smithfield, RI. I have family on the South Shore though!

And it is even colder today! -10 with the wind chill!

It's sooooo chilly here today! It's about 14 with a windchill of who knows.. CHILLY! :)

I'm so glad that I can come here and just chill I posted another thread regarding an issue I was/am having with my son's friend, who has come to live with us.

WOW! People can sure judge and attack! Glad I can come here and not be judged.
It's nice and pleasant. :bored:

The Community Board can be a vicious place, I know this from experience. :headache: Don't take anything that anyone said there too seriously.

My favorite places here on the DIS have always been the trip planning boards, such as the cruise board, the resorts board, the restaurants board, etc. :surfweb: I *try* to stay away from the Community Board but sometimes I find myself wanderng over there... :tiptoe:

Yup i wandered too far!!!!

Are all dinners dress up!? Phyllis asked me and I said I would ask as I was unsure. I'm hoping not suits. Lol don't feel like packing them. Will shirt n tie work!?

Which restaurants require reservations?

Most nights the dress code for the main dining rooms (Animator's Palate, Lumiere's, and Parrot Cay) will be "cruise casual", which is basically anything except for bathing suits, shorts, or tank tops. I usually wear capris with a nice top most nights. My husband wears khakis and a dress shirt, and my sons wore khakis, a t-shirt, and then a button-down shirt over the t-shirt, but left open. Casual, but slightly dressy for the cruise casual nights.

Here are some pics from cruise casual nights on our previous Disney cruises. You know what they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. lol

Then there will be 1 Formal Night and 1 Semi-formal night. Since our cruise is 8 nights, not sure if they'll add an extra formal or semi-formal.

There will be Pirate Night. A lot of people wear piratey type clothing. pirate:

Anyway, to answer your question, I do think that a shirt and tie will work. I've seen men who have worn them, no jacket, and they didn't look out of place, in my opinion.

The only restaurant that requires a reservation is Palo, which is for adults only, age 18 and up.

Anyone know if you keep the bucket if you buy alcohol?

What does it look like?

Do you mean the beer buckets? I actually don't know. I don't think that people kept the buckets. I remember seeing empty buckets on the tables at the Quiet Cove pool. I think they were just plain white. But this was a few years ago, so I don't know if currently the buckets are "nice" and if people keep them. (All of that, just to say that I don't know. :lmao: )

If its not too much trouble, could people who haven't already indicated on the list what gender they or their children are please update the list? Blame it on me being an English girl, but some of the names I'm not too familar with and sound as if they could be male or female! Some of my gifts look a bit girlie, and I'm sure wouldn't be appreciated by a man (although I could be mistaken, so no offence meant to anyone!), so would be really helpful for me (and I'm sure others!). Thank you. :thumbsup2

Still not bought flights, am watching them every day, and they have gone up and stayed up. Going to have to hope they come down a little nearer the time!

Sorry for any confusion - abbreviations are as follows: may use dearest instead of darling
DD: darling daughter
DS: darling son
DH: darling husband
DM: darling mom
DBF: darling boy friend
DGF: darling girlfriend
DW: darling wife
BFF: best friend forever
SO: significant other
DF: dearest friend

I agree that this needs to be clarified, can I please confirm these names and genders?

Drparoo: Aiden - DD; Delany - DS?
sftnslky: Macy DD or DS?; Kasey DD?

as far as flights - I use Kayak.com I find the prices are the best and the search is very easy

I figured as much --- 'casual'.

Wasn't sure if Disney was really dressy - casual is sooo great!!

On NCL, we weren't allowed, or not we, I meant the MEN weren't allowed
to wear nice dress khaki shorts, had to be JEANS or pants and JEANS to me aren't as nice looking as a nice pair of khaki shorts with a golf shirt.

As for the beer buckets, that's what I meant :)

On NCL we kept the bucket in our room, had a bottle opener on it and we actually took the 2 of them home, I have them for use by our pool! LOL

I was thinking as I was told YOU WERE NOT allowed to use YOUR beer/alcohol near open public areas...

I wanted to carry some of our stuff around on the ship, esp at sea days!

Hi Georgette!

I don't know if I didn't explain it right or if you misunderstood, but Disney also requests that shorts not be worn in the dining rooms for dinner. I meant that my DH and DSs wore khaki pants to dinner, not shorts. Then again, I've never heard of anyone not being allowed to enter the dining room if they're wearing shorts at dinner. And I have to say that I agree with you, that a nice pair of shorts look nicer than a pair of jeans. ::yes::

Here's a pic of DS Robb on our Disney cruise in 2004:

I understood... but like I said, should be able to wear a nice pair of dress shorts rather than jeans or basketball shorts ;)

hehehe, no worries, maybe i just typed my question and comment wrong!

I'm off to lay down --- feeling naueated, uh-oh!!! Headache too... Motrin better help.

:)

you are not allowed to take glass bottles next to the pool, but you can take your own beverages with you. I often have a bottle of wine that I have carried with me. in the pool? no...

The real restriction is the dining areas, if you take a bottle of wine into dinner with you (open or not) you have to pay a corkage fee (I think it is 30.00 right now). I have purchased two camelback bottles that each hold 750ml (one bottle of wine) and we simple fill them with wine and sip on that through dinner. I also have taken a Castaway Bottle (from the gift bag) filled with my spirit of choice into dinner with me. I simply add to my dinner beverage of choice.

one has to be descrete of course.

I was just asking for my husband and the rest of the men.

I see that you can get a Disney refillable beer mug - or token system.

This might work. Instead of carrying on the case of beer.

Mine can be discreet, vodka and cranberry! LOL

I bought 4 refillable hard plastic cups with straws, screw on lid...

That's great for sodas and juice but beer? LOL Hubbie won't like that, he's not a big drinker, but around other men he might ;)
