May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

Welcome! I feel ya there I am so excited to just travel with my hubby! Our last cruise although fun was with my MIL and my husbands best friend and his wife. I felt like I was always entertaining and never alone! :)

Yeah travelling with family is fun but it's been two years since we've vacationed alone :scared1: and I think we're really looking forward to only having to do what we want!

Ok I was going through the link to preorder the pictures/CDs, do the classic ships not offer photobooks? None are offered to prebuy for the Magic or Wonder  I really like the photobook I got on the Dream because it was Disney specific. I guess one from photopass could always be made upon return, but it's not the same as walking off the ship with a book!:worried:

Only about 48 hrs til us Silvers can check-in and book :hyper::hyper::hyper:
:thumbsup2 :hyper:

Do we know yet which nights are what? Formal, semi-formal, toy story...?
I thought someone posted earlier what they thought formal and semi-formal would be, but I can't seem to find the post. My guess is Formal will be second night (first sea day), and semi-formal might be Juneau night. Any concierge or platinum's can you possibly find out for sure as well as when the Pixar party is? I've only been able to find out early when I've been sailing concierge, so I'm hoping someone can ask shore-side concierge and get the answer.

Okay so I am getting myself all ready for Silver booking tomorrow night. I want to have everything straight.

You can start booking at midnight Eastern Standard time?

Do you need to go through online check-in prior to booking excursions/reservations or can you do that after?

Yes midnight EST but make sure you're not logged into the site before midnight.

I think you have to do check-in first but it's been a year and a half since I've done it so hopefully someone else can confirm for us.

I just got off with DCL and they have no idea which nights are which:lmao:

Yes I got that same response today as well. She did tell me though LIKELY the formal night will be either 2nd or 3rd night because sea days and they usual get them out of the way first. On the 7 nighters last year they were on day 2. The semi formal she said is Juneau night on the 7 nighters so that may be a hint as well but not to take any of that for granted. I can't believe they would have any clue what the dining rotations and special nights will be if they can't even figure out what pier we are at and how to get us there! ;)

Agreed it is midnight eastern. I think someone here had said you do not have to checkin before BUT I do not know for sure. I would think they'd want your cc# though you still have until what 3 days before the cruise to cancel excursions without penalty and paying I believe.

Good morning everyone! Less than 24 hours til Silver gets to book tonight!

I posted this to the FB group as well but in case you didn't see or are not there....

I was reading my DCL Blog email today and apparently DCL has added a whole slew of excursions to their Sitka port. For those who have booked and those who get to tonight (eeek!) may want to check it out.

This is a service that does unique photo books for $2.99 for up to 100 pictures. The only catch is you have to take on your phone but for 3 dollars seems worthwhile. It is called groovebook.

Originally we were planning of hoping off an spending a couple of hours in Vancouver. But this was when we were arriving in Canada Place. I am now rethinking it and thinking of just reboarding. For anyone who may have done it has anyone done either. Gone siteseeing or just reboarded.

Yes, 12:01 AM EST is when you can start booking. No, you don't have to check in first.

I think that is an old post that Scott brought out because it is 90 days before the cruise. Nothing new has been added to the Sitka Port Adventures.

You don't have to have your online check-in completed before you can book excursions; you just have to be paid in full.

They don't charge port adventures directly to your ccard; they charge them to your onboard account which you can link to a ccard at online check-in or even select to pay "cash". If you select the "cash" option, they'll have you pay for the excursion balance when you check in at the port terminal.

Sweet. Thanks guys. When I did look at the actual DCL site nothing looked different. I only had the email on my phone this morning.

They don't charge the port adventures to your room though until like 3 days prior right? I am obviously using a cc on my check in but I want to pay room charges (even excursions)with gift cards. They don't charge the cc before you board do they?

I think I am going to do a P90X workout at 9-9:30 tonight so I can stay up. I'm dragging right now.

Why is this day going by so slowly! :hyper::hyper::hyper:

I KNOW!!! I hope I don't fall asleep before midnight. ugh.

Anyone awake who has access to check the times on the Alaskan Fish Camp & Wilderness Dinner in Ketchican for me please?

I looked for two people and the only time available is 11:15 AM. I'm not sure if there were originally more options or if that was always the only one.

Thanks. I asked on fb too because I wasn't sure where it would be seen first. We don't get into Ketchikan til 11:15 and leave at like 7:15 I believe it is. The trip says it may last up to 6 hrs so probably only 1. I hadn't looked at port times until I got a reply on fb and realized there isn't much in the way of other times it could be if it lasted 6 hrs. I just hope we have time to get a little time to look around town most importantly to get a picture under the Ketchikan sign hehehe.
