May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

I'm starting to do more in-depth research for excursions. In Juneau we (myself & DH) would like to do whale watching and are considering booking with Harv & Marv. If anyone else is interested and has a party of 3 or 4 and would like to book the Marv special #2, which is a private tour for 5-6 people, or any of the private ones, please let me know.

Wish I could say count us in. I so want to do this, but I need to check with DH and my SIL. There are 3 of us sailing for sure, maybe a 4th adult to be added.

I would have to get back to you, so if you have others interested, don't wait on us.

Harv and marvs is definitely the way to go! We used them when we did dcl Alaska in 2011. You will not be disappointed, were doing this cruise and the one right after which I'm organizing a group for their whale watching. They are very accomadating, punctual and you'll see lots of whales :)

Hi Everybody!

Catching up on life and work after the Med Cruise took WAY longer than I thought. But now I'm finally back on the DIS to catch up with the group and FE signups and get back to researching the Alaska trip! :woohoo:

All I heard while I was on the Med Cruise was how much I'm going to LOVE Alaska. So psyched!

:welcome: Welcome to ShellB8585, scottrob, Jackson's grammie, Saratoga75 and any other newcomer I may have missed. :grouphug:

You will have a fabulous time on your Med trip! I can't WAIT to hear about it and see the pics. This is totally on our radar maybe for 2015...we shall see! I just wish they went sometime other than summer. I HATE the heat hahaha :crazy2:
MoonDaughter, hope you have a good time with graduation and your Med Cruise!!!

Thank you! It was BEYOND wonderful! :cloud9: I definitely want to go back, but school scheduling will prevent us from making any of the 2014 Med itineraries. (Unless I come into some miraculous windfall). Keeping my eye out for 2015 or 2016 Med Cruises.

I suppose I should do a TR, but it's much faster to cheat and post links from 2 of the many other super planners in my meet group. Otherwise you all will be waiting until after Alaska for me to finish. So here is one by MinnieDiva Back to the Med 2013 Greece Itinerary. We're back!! and here is a blog by nzdisneymom Back to Back Mediterranean Cruises

But I'll be happy to answer any questions anyone has about my trip. Might me better to PM me so this thread stays purely about Alaska.

pequele, I hope your cruise was Magical!

Word about the Pixar party seems to be it is still a fluid thing. I guess originally it started out being only at 10:15pm! :scared1: Ok for us on the East Coast, that is 2:15am! :scared1::scared1::scared1: Seriously, no way is my kid who will be 5 gonna make that! But it sounds like they have added on an earlier party at 4:15, so now 2 parties 4:15 and 10:15. :woohoo: I noticed that also someone said it was on semi-formal night on their cruise. So many people "dressed up" for Pixar night with Pixar character shirts that it seemed to un-semi-formal the night (if that is a word :rotfl: ). Just some info on the matter, but hopefully DCL is figuring out the kinks before we hop on board!

Dang it! That just destroyed my hopes and dream of a Hi"Jack"ed Pirate Party. I know I will have fun no matter what, but I'm going to miss Pirate night tremendously.

They did the 2 parties on the Fantasy for the NYE cruise. We almost skipped the earlier party, but I'm glad I went because I fell asleep and missed the later party.

But good to hear it could be on Semi Formal night. That will make for some great pictures.

We just booked this cruise (cat 9a, deck 6) using points. We had a bunch stacking up and decided we wanted to go back to Alaska more than WDW. We paid cash for the repo. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Using stacked up points this way is so worth it to me. If I'm not going to use the points otherwise, I might as well use them to cruise!

I hate having to come back to real life! We have less than 100 days til our Oct trip to WDW. I know I will be soooo sad when we leave there. No cruise this time, though I have constantly looked at one over Halloween, but alas, we shouldn't. I LOVED the 3 nighter but definitely not long enough. You HAVE to do like 3 of them b2b2b!

My first reminder check passports and drivers license to make sure they have not expired

Yup, great reminder! Thanks. I have to get my son's renewed by the end of March. Glad I can wait til after the 1st of the year though...even after last payment due haha.

BTW did anyone figure out the last payment date issue? I never called to ask.

Just started my "planning" stages to make my new FE for this trip. Nana was on out 3 night cruise so I had one made with her on it. Now I need a 2 pocket one, right ;) I mean I put her name on the bottom of the 3 pocket so I could just fold her pocket back. BUT don't I need one especially designed for Alaska....RIGHT??? :rolleyes1

Sorry guys we've had to leave you. Hubbys change of jobs means we have had to push our holiday forward next year so we will bringing the Wonder to San Diego on the WBPC instead.

I hope you all have the most fantastic cruise(s).

Take care all

:cool1: Just booked the Pan Pacific for under $200 a night for our pre-cruise stay with AAA rate! Very excited!:cheer2:

Sad to see you go, but a WBPC cruise is awesome! I'd love to do a PC cruise. :goodvibes

Awww, sorry you won't be going but glad to hear you still have a trip to go on! I would love to do a PC trip...if they'd stop stopping in all these Mexico ports, I I want to see the PC but other than Cozumel which I have already been to a few times, I just don't really have the desire. I know there are tons of things to do on the boat while in port, but that isn't why I like to go on a cruise! I want to see the world :lmao:

AWESOME! I wonder if I can do this through our TA? She's booking the other stuff (except the flights) should I do the hotel with her, too? I assume you have to pay ahead of time for your dates? I don't usually book so far out for a hotel, so I never really think about all that hahaha.

Ok I found it! :cool1: The pre-pay rate was like $196 US before tax (I think about $220 with taxes?). This was the day before the cruise direct on the hotel's site.

THEN I looked for the day after....:faint:

About $100 more for the same dang thing....:eek:

So I checked out Expedia. Got the price for the day after at $187 (and with taxes I think that was more like $221 so I think the other was maybe $228?). So I grabbed it! Don't know the day before price on Expedia, I don't wanna look in case I want to cry over it haha.

Hotel and flights...DONE! :woohoo::cheer2:

Smart ::yes:: Just reading on TR for Alaska, the excursion required passports. Gotta have it to cross the border and for excursions.

Sorry, you won't be joining us. I hope the new job works out for hubby.

Is there some benefit to booking planes, trains;), and hotels now? Other than it is done?? The price for the Pan @ 200 is awsome. I am looking at prices and watching them. But not seeing anything that makes me want to jump on it right then.

Did you do this directly thru their site? I just checked and it says the AAA rate is not available. Could be you got the last room, lucky you.

Since I am doing the California coast cruise, and will arrive in Vancouver on the Wonder, I just need a room for DH and maybe my nephew if he goes with us.

I've been watching prices at the Pan Pacific since early June and they have been going nowhere but up. I figure the earlier I book, the better price I'll get. Only so many AAA rooms are available at the lower rate, so I took advantage early. I didn't see any disadvantages.

Since I have to pay for airline tickets when I buy them, I am watching and hoping for a sale. :goodvibes

I went through the AAA website and found them. Since the AAA rates are not showing on their website, I emailed Pan Pacific direct and got their AAA rates without having to prepay for the stay. :goodvibes

OK, I am giving this a try as well. We'll see what happens, wish me luck. :goodvibes

I thought from the trip reports I had been reading that the rates at the Pan Pacific were normally closer to $300.00 a night, so if this works out, this will be great.

My DH just reminded me that we had stayed in a Pan Pacific in Beijing. I had forgotten about that.

Makes sense...I am so used to watching and booking usually 2months out or less, thank you military :rolleyes2. We are not members of AAA but are members of other travel programs. I will start stalking those;)
