May 24, 2007 3 Night Wonder!!!

Here's a portion of an email I just received from my travel agent. Talk about excited!!! :woohoo:

"Hi Sue
Disney released a discount for Florida residents on your cruise
It isn't available in the room category you are currently in but it is available in the category 6 verandah room for $80 less then what you are currently paying

I have switched you into this room type - don't have a room number as of yet, Disney will assign one and you will have it available when you board the ship

The $80 refund will be issued back to the credit card you used for payment"

IS THIS AWESOME OR WHAT!!!

Hi
We are also traveling May 24 (DD 4 and son 7). I just found out about this thread via Sue from another site.

Here are our current plans, subject to change:

Day 1: Arrive just prior to 10am. I understand there are movies and characters in the terminal, so that the kids won't be bored while we wait to get on the ship. Advice I've read is - the cruise experience begins as soon as you arrive, so with such a short trip, why not start the fun ASAP.

After we get on the ship, we would like to get a quick bite at the buffet. Next, let the kids swim before it gets too crowded, then the muster drill and sail away party. No plans after that - just play it by ear.

Day 2: Full access to Atlantis. I made a reservation at the Comfort Suites for $270, which cheaper than what Disney wanted ($438). We'll check-in but obviously won't sleep there.

Day 3: Castaway Cay - no plans. Right now, we're thinking of parasailing, biking, and swimming with the stingrays.

We are currently set up for late dining. I just hope my kids can stay awake long enough to enjoy everything. As far as cabins, we signed up for a Cat 12 guarantee. I found out Monday that we were upgraded to a Cat 9, deck 2 near the front of the ship.

My biggest worry is getting sea sick. I've taken 2 cruises before this and had no trouble - but then, the seas were relatively calm. Thank goodness I didn't book a cruise this week, with that storm (Andrea) out there. whew.

12 days and counting... :yay:

We will be on this cruise as well and it looks like our kiddos are the same age! My DD is 4 1/2 and my DS is 7. This is our first cruise, so we are staying on the ship at Nassau, but are looking forward to Castaway Cay.

It's going to be here before we know it!

What great news Sue! I am jealous. Think of me down in the dungeon on deck 1!!!

Only 10 days until I leave for FL!!! Has everybody started their packing?

We just booked the glass bottom boat tour for Castaway Cay. Hopefully it will be a lot of fun. Have any of you done it?

Not I. I'm not packed. I figured if I wait till the last minute, no time to over think and over pack!!!

DH hasn't been feeling well and was finally sent to the hospital today for some tests. We'll get the results tomorrw. I hope that he's ok and it's no big deal. If he's not feeling up to it (and depending on the results) we may have to use our trip insurance and postpone to a later date...

Wow, I hope you get good news about the tests and that your DH starts feeling better. Sending lots of get well prayers.

I wanted to share pictures of the Tye Dye T-shirts I made last night for our upcoming trip. If you need the instructions on how to do it, just ask.

Just let me know...

Interesting article found on CNN

(Tribune Media Services) -- Since he's traveling during hurricane season, Al Cooper takes out an insurance policy for his Mexico vacation. It's a good call. A few days later, he's diagnosed with cancer and has to cancel his trip. But now his insurance company, Access America, refuses to honor his claim. What gives?

Q: I recently booked a vacation trip to Mexico. Since I was visiting during hurricane season, I also bought travel insurance through Access America.
Five days before buying my trip, I had my annual physical exam. After booking my vacation, my doctor phoned me and asked me to come back for a consultation. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and several weeks later, my doctor advised me to cancel my vacation.
I submitted a claim to my travel insurance company. It was denied because they claim that I exhibited symptoms on my visit to my doctor before booking my vacation.
I told the insurer that I had medical records that indicate I had no knowledge of a possible illness when I visited my doctor. The insurer and its consumer advocate say that I don't have to have knowledge of the symptom -- the policy only requires that I have a symptom.
What a rip-off! Can you do anything for me? I could really use the $900 for my mounting medical bills.

A: I'm sorry to hear about your illness. Access America's denial of your claim is obviously not making this any easier for you.
Unfortunately, every major travel insurance company has a clause that lets it off the hook for a preexisting medical condition. The question is: does your diagnosis fit Access America's definition of a preexisting condition, or not?
According to Access America, a preexisting condition is defined as "any injury occurring prior to and including the effective date" of your policy and "any illness occurring during the 120 days prior to and including the effective date of this insurance for which treatment by a licensed physician has been sought or advised or for which symptoms exist which would cause a prudent person to seek diagnosis, care or treatment."
In other words, if you thought you needed to see a doctor because of symptoms that ended up being a sign of serious illness, then that would be considered a preexisting condition.
But your doctor's visit was a routine medical exam. There were no symptoms of cancer.
Here's what apparently tripped up your insurance company: Your initial tests, conducted several days before you booked your vacation, showed elevated levels of protein in your blood, which can be a sign of prostate cancer. But you weren't notified of the test results until after you booked your Mexico vacation.
In my experience, travel insurance companies very rarely overturn their decisions (even when I get involved). But this seemed to be a case where Access America didn't have all of the information about the time-line of your illness.
When you're filing a claim on your travel insurance, it's important to first look at your policy to see what is (and isn't) covered and to offer the records that will allow it to honor your claim. In your case, Access America simply needed more facts.
I contacted the insurance company on your behalf. A representative called you, and you were able to give him the information he needed in order to honor your claim.

I just love your door signs. I would like to have one. I just found out my new cabin assignment is at the very back of the ship 6654 in a handicapped stateroom. The room is bigger and the verandah is twice as big. No one will even be walking by. Have we set up a meet and greet yet for sure?

Which one do you want, and what would you like on it? Congrats about the bigger room. That's great!!

I think we said the meet would be at 3:00 at the bar by the family pool. Does that sound ok with everyone?? After everyone is there, we can move away from the bar area.

I'm not sure if we have a definite meet and greet yet, but if someone sets one up, count me in.

I love your signs. They are cuter than the ones I made for us! Thanks for the info about the shirts. I think I may give it a try this weekend. I'm typically not very good at this sort of thing, but I'll give it a shot!

I checked with reservations yesterday to find out what movies are showing during our cruise. Here is the list she gave me. Of course, she said that they are always subject to change.

Wild Hogs
Meet the Robinsons
Prestige
Santa Claus 3
Pirates of the Caribbean
Cars
