Hi, I found you on FB and sent you a friend request. Once you accept my FR request I can add you to the Cruise group. I think the group is hard to find on FB cause I have it as a private group so only members see each others posts.

We would love for you to join the FE group. So far we have seven families so we would definitely love more!!!

Another family celebrating a college graduation here- it will be our second cruise (1st one was Bermuda in 1986) and DD's first.

I don't have FB but she does - how does one get added to the page? It would be cool if she could meet other college grads to hang out with.

Are there any meets set up? I have tons of questions.

Welcome to the group! We don't have an official meet set up yet but if everyone is interested we can definitely try to set something up.

I sent you a pm about how to find the group on Facebook.

That is a great deal. We always take our own personal snorkels and masks. You just have to get a life vest (for free) from the snorkel stand so the lifeguards can spot you.

more new comers to the cruise we booked a 7a back in Feb. 2013 we were assigned on 3-28 :yay: room 6180 :dance3: can you believe it we got an upgrade :worship: Our first cruise EVER!!!

I'm just hearing about these Fish Extenders can anyone tell me how this works and if its happening during our cruise?? popcorn::

A Fish Extender is the fabric pocket thingamajig that people hang on the Fish clip outside their stateroom door. Then participants of the Fish Extender gift exchange deliver gifts to your F.E. (fish extender) throughout the cruise.

For three to four day cruises, participants just deliver one gift per cruise. Sometimes on the 7 day cruises, participants will deliver more then one gift but on the short cruises one gift per cruise is standard.

For the gifts, you can make (or buy) one gift per person or just one gift per cabin. It is entirely up to the giver. For example, on the cruises with less participants I make one gift per person. On cruises with lots of participants I give just one general gift per cabin. How much you want to spend is entirely up to you. I tend to spend $3 per person (cost wise cause I usually make my gifts) but I have seen some people spend up to and over $10. It is really up to you and I have always appreciated all gifts no matter what they were. Some people get crafty, some people just find great deals at stores.

We are having a gift exchange on this cruise. So far we have seven families participating, which is a small group but still plenty of people to have a nice gift exchange. We would love more participants.

If you want to participate, we have also created a Facebook group. The reason for the FB group is cause it is a little more private (only members can see posts, not the whole disboard or FB world). You don't have to join the FB group to participate but if you do want to join the FB group, pm me your FB name so I can find you on FB.

If you don't want to join the FB group, but still want to participate in the FE group, just pm me the first names of everyone in your cabin, ages of any children, any allergies, and your cabin number. I will also need your personal email so I can email you a spreadsheet of all the FE participants.

Hope this helps!!!

So you would assign me one state room to leave a gift at on a certain day or would i leave a gift all three days on the same state room, something like that?

Everyone leaves gifts for everyone else. For example, if there are eight families in the exchange, then you give a gift to each family (cabin) so you would be giving gifts to seven cabins since you would be the eighth cabin. When you give a gift to that cabin, you can either give one gift for the cabin or give a gift for each person in that cabin. For example, a cabin has one mother and two kids. You can leave one gift for all three to share or you can leave a gift for the mother, and then another gift for each kid. For instance in a past exchange, I left a key chain for the mom and Disney silly bandz for the kids. So you gift to the seven cabins and in turn the seven cabins gift to you.

You don't leave gifts all three days, just one day. You can choose whatever day you want to deliver gifts. I personally deliver late the first night but most participants tend to deliver throughout the second day of the cruise. You can wait to deliver on the last day, just remember to deliver before dinner because most people take down their FE's after dinner and pack the luggage by ten for the cabin stewards to pick up.

All participants will be given a list of cabin numbers so you know who exactly to deliver gifts to. I don't recommend just walking around looking for hanging FE's. For one that is a lot of walking and secondly, some guests do hang up FE's that aren't part of the exchange. They might be part of another Disney forum exchange or they just might like hanging up an FE. I just know on each cruise I have been on I have seen several FE's on cabins that weren't part of the exchange. I don't leave gifts for random FE's, I only leave gifts from the list.

Hope that makes sense. I tend to get wordy :-).

I am working on my FE gifts today. I hope everyone in the exchange likes them :) I am not saying what they are, so it will be a surpise :jumping1:

I love your jumping smilies. I don't think I have seen those before. :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I've got my FE gifts done, just have to bag and label them!

Oh and in case anyone else joins, I always make extra so I have plenty for anyone else wanting to participate. Cruise is still over a month a way, not soon enough for me!

No your not wordy i love the explanation :cool1: So you assign me one stateroom and i deliver the gifts to them one day. It sounds like alot of fun i just didn't want to be worried about delivering gifts all over the place to 10 different people :scared1: but this sounds easy :yay: this is our easy trip i want my husband to sit on his butt and relax  so i keep telling myself keep it easy! but i want to make it memorable for our daughter!! ahh the life of a blonde type A planner :lmao:

Sorry but you misunderstood me. There are eight cabins in the exchange so you would be delivering to seven cabins. But you are given the cabin numbers so you can plan an easy walking route . On each floor near the stairs and elevators there are maps so you can see exactly where the cabins are and minimize how much walking you have to do. You also don't have to deliver all the gifts at once. For example, if you are planning on walking to the pool, look and see what cabins are at that end of the ship and deliver on the way to the pool. The night you are going to Animators Palette you can deliver the gifts for the guests on that end of the ship.

Think about it and let me know. Your daughter might enjoy getting gifts and even delivering them. This is actually a pretty small exchange, great for newbies to see how a FE works.

I hope not! I booked a cruise in secret from DH, as he turns the Big 4-0 on May 23! Surprising him with a birthday cruise. He's going to find out at work...his secretary, boss and some of his department is in on this and helping me to pull it off.

Being so new to DIS boards, I don't have enough to send a PM....Is it too late?
