May 23, 2009 (5/23/09) E. Caribbean w/Tortola

I feel your pain Stacey!! I don't know if I posted it here, but I got my hair cut last Friday and it is MUCH shorter than I usually have it. I got highlights also, and it's much blonder than I had expected. But oh well, it is easier to deal with for our trip!!

I've got some things taken care of, but I"m still freaking out a bit about how close we are to leaving!!! 9 days until we head to FL!!

Brandon has football practice all week, and on Friday they actually have a game!! He is SO excited about the game. (I hope he gets to play!!)

Can't wait to meet everyone on the cruise!!! I see alot of packing in our future :wizard: LOL

Got my hair cut for the cruise today. I told her to go ahead and cut it a "little" shorter than usual since it makes it easier to take care of.

WELL.......it is REALLY short.

I'll be the man with ****s. :eek::eek::eek:

Literally laughed out loud at..."I'll be the man with ****s." Good one! But...you'll be the lucky one with care free hair on the cruise...it'll grow back soon!

I'm sitting on my butt again, watching The biggest loser - have a list now of things to do that I made earlier but haven't done any of them - guess this weekend is going to be an extra busy one.

Me too...have tons to do, but it probably won't happen til the weekend.

My husband said tonight that he didn't have to worry now about any MEN trying to pick me up on the ship.;)

I'm starting to panic too. I don't know why....almost everything is ready to put into my bags. :confused3 But there are still appointments, and I have to get my money ready, organize my trip folder, get my son's stuff ready.
I don't know....just a bunch of little stuff.

As if regular appointments weren't enough, my husband decided that we HAVE to have one of the arcadia doors fixed, and scheduled the guy to come between 8:00 and 10:00 Monday morning. Why it couldn't have waited until I get back I don't know. Just one more thing to keep me from getting any packing done.

10 more days until the cruise, 8 more days until we leave for Cocoa!

I'm so ready for a break, I need to "vacate" my current life - badly, hahaha!

Look forward to seeing ya'll next week!:cool1::cool1:

Aubrey said the same thing last night about really needing a vacation:confused3

I'm thinking exactly the same right now. I have a wapping great eadache, have just come out of the dullest lunch meeting ever, and got to my desk to find urgent instructions from a client that require a 4 hr job doing in the next 2 hrs.

Roll on cruise time

Has anyone ever had trouble with their door magnets being stolen? I read on a passporter site that this had occasionally happened. Wondered everyone else's experience and how we might prevent it.

We never have. My son and his buddies have the bad habit of putting MY magnets on the ceiling where I can't reach them, though....:rotfl2:

I don't even think that we've had any other DISers lose any on our cruises.
I tend to think that it only happens when there are a lot of bored teens and 'tweens on the ship....during holiday times like Easter, Spring Break, Christmas......
Nothing we can really do to prevent it. I've thought that if some of mine went missing, I'd check the nearest trash can, since there isn't anything else someone could do with someone else's door signs.

I personally have not but a friend of mine who cruised in January on the Magic had magnets and her FE stolen. Customer service did get the FE back minus the gifts though....

We use a plastic tie that has to be cut off with a knife to wrap around the "string" that the FE hangs from the fish mail. Makes it almost impossible to steal. And we're in and out of the room so often, I don't think we've ever lost any gifts. :confused3

I haven't had a problem but have read about it - sad:confused3
Most of mine are personalized to some degree but I guess if people are mean they won't care if they are or not!

I've labelled up all of mine with room number on the front and back (subtle on the front but obvious on the back). In the end i'm not too fussed if anyone takes them, it's only the cost of some paper and mini magnets. I think I would be more disappointed than anything that anyone would be that desperate, especially on a Disney cruise.

Need to remember to take a cable tie with me and a scissors to cut it off:confused3:rolleyes:

Can any one tell me what the tip amount is? I want to have all my cash ready. I know it's here somewhere. Our last two cruises were member cruises and there it's included.

Does anyone recall the time the staterooms are ready on day one? I do remember that luggage is a little later but couldn't remember what time we went to our room.

The staterooms aren't ready until 1:00 or 1:30.
At checkin last time, they told us 1:00, but the room stewards kept the ropes up and told us we had to wait until 1:30.

As for tips....I think this is correct....and rounded up:
Head Waiter $10
Server $30
Asst Server $20
Room Steward $30

That's per person for a 7 night cruise.
