May 23, 2009 (5/23/09) E. Caribbean w/Tortola

Stace, everyone still on for our Tortola day sail?? I'm going to contact the line next week and just touch base. I think I'll need to call when we dock in Tortola.

YES YES YES!!!!! And we have added one more passenger! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
Joanne is coming with us too!!!!
I was just going to send you a PM about it.

:yay::yay::yay:
I hope you can handle being surrounded by women!

Call me irresponsible...but I'm not in the least concerned about the Swine Flu.
Living in Arizona, I have a much bigger chance of getting it here than I do in the Caribbean.

A doctor friend told us that we only needed to worry if we, or maybe someone we come in contact with, has recently been to Mexico.
Most of the crew is signed on for a long enough time that they weren't spending time in Mexico City (as in, visiting family) and I think if they'd gotten sick by being in one of the ports, they'd already show symptoms and be relieved of duty.

Are any of you worried about this swine flu? I hope none of the crew get exposed in Mexico. I am so glad this is an Eastern.

I have to admit I am a tad bit worried. I mean, we are gone for 2 weeks anyways, so I'm sure we are apt to pick up SOME type of sickness. But knowing that our cruise is going to Mexico right before we get on does make me nervous. I know, HOPE, that they should change the course for that cruise...that would make me feel much better. The RN's at dialysis asked if we had Travel Insurance??? THey did say to make sure to wipe things down before touching it, or make sure to wash your hand EVERYTIME you touch anything. Keep antibacterial hand stuff with you at all times. Which we planned on doing anyways.

I'm not letting it freak me out (yet..lol), but I am paying attention to what Disney will do. Still looking forward to our cruise and week at Disney!!!:thumbsup2

Next weeks western is going to Nassau instead of Cozmel, so we can hope the one before us does too. I fell sorry for those folks those, Cozmel is so pretty and a lot of fun.

yes, thanks for the invite. I love the water and my sisiter said she and my mother would be fine on the bus tour with out me!!!

A good idea for everyone...and I'll be doing this too:

Go to your doctor NOW, tell him/her that you will be traveling and ask for a Z-Pak.
Or even some Cipro. The Cipro helps fight traveler's diarrhea and it's always good to have the Z-Pak because they work fast, and it's less pills to take.

One great thing about having your own antibiotics, especially the Cipro that helps with diarrhea, is that you won't have to go to the ship's med center. If you DO go to the med center with any kind of stomach flu symptoms, they WILL quarantine you.

This is probably too personal, but I have some issues with irritable bowel. I always make sure that I have everything I might possibly need with me, because I know that if I had to go to the med center, they wouldn't believe me that it's only IBS, and would make me stay in my room. So I will do anything to avoid going there.

We got our docs yesterday. We also got the lime green luggage tags.

I'm a little nervous about the swine flu but we will make the most of the cruise regardless. I have already warned my girls that they need to be washing their hands thoroughly NOW!

We have that other cruise on Carnival in mid-June that stops in Cozumel (our 1 & only stop). If this is still going on then, we'll probably have a cruise to nowhere. There's no place else to stop between there & New Orleans. C'est la vie!

Ang

I also told DS to wash his hands at school a lot and if anyone there is sick to call Aubrey to pick him up - I would rather he stays home then be around sick kids and threatened him with Disney not allowing him to cruise if he gets sick LOL.

Ok, enough of the health updates (We can discuss the wisdom of getting prescriptions for antibiotics you might not need later). Here are the movies for our cruise:

Hannah Montana-The Movie
Earth
Race to Witch Mountain
Jonas Brothers- 3-D
Confessions of a Shopaholic
Hannah Montana-The Concert in 3-D
Bolt- 3-D
High School Musical 3
Bedtime Stories
Swing Votes
Beverly Hills Chihuahua

The representative would not say yea or nay on "Up" being premiered.

And the docs arrived yesterday.

Just showed Tarryn the list - some she has seen and some she is excited for.

Busy booking a cruise for next year - been emailing my agent all day trying to organize it all as we are doing 2 cabins but still deciding if I want to pull the kids out of school etc etc etc.

Hmmm....not much there that I haven't seen or care to. Thanks for the info, though. I'm sure a lot of people were waiting to hear.
I take that back....I might go see Hannah Montana the movie, it looked cute. And Shopaholic too maybe.

WiscBill is right, you may not need the antibiotics. It is a 100% personal choice.
But for us....now that my kids are well into their teens, I don't always take them to the doctor when they're sick. So if I have a script on hand for antibiotics already (that we didn't use on the cruise) I do something highly illegal, unethical, and maybe even immoral and Bad-Mom-ish.....I give them the drugs. They're never wasted.

I'm with you on that one - the only thing I want to see is Confessions of a shopaholic - been meaning to go see it as I have read the books so may just wait till the cruise now that it is showing.

You shouldn't be airing too much of your illegal, unethical and Bad-Mom-ish stuff here on internet :rotfl:
