May 23, 2009 (5/23/09) E. Caribbean w/Tortola

I still need to work on our fish extender. (not plural I hope:rotfl: )

I was at Michael's yesterday and they had lots of Disney stuff in there $ section.
I think I have down what I am going to do - just need to get it organized for Tarryn to bag and tag in spring break.

Whew last night was a lot of work doing the kids Valentines day 'stuff' for school today:eek:

Just an update. My mom died very peacefully this morning. Everyone was suprised it went so quickly, especially the hospice nurses. My sister & I were there holding her hands, I guess when you are ready to go home, you are ready. We as a family laughed & cried all day. But everyone, including brothers, sisters,my step son, nieces, nephews, grand nieces & nephews showed up to give their respect. It was awesome to see. I am sad but at the same time, not. What quality of life did she have. We sometimes are more kind to our pets than we are to our family. She is up there with my dad, my sister, my husband, and other family members..and she once again remembers all & is happily running around without any dimentia to limit her.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I can relate to the heartache of watching someone have a poor quality of life. My grandfather is currently dealing with terminal lung cancer and it seems like everyday there's a new complication or symptom. He's at home and I go and sit with him most days while my Mom is at work. It's so hard to see the ones you love that way. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

So what is served at Palo's for brunch - we do dinner every cruise but haven't been to the brunch?

Oh golly....just about anything you could think of. They have a buffet spread....one area of chilled items like shrimp & oysters, etc.
Another area of breads & cheeses, a dessert table, and of course my all-time favorite, the sticky buns.

And you can order several different main dishes as a "lunch" or omelettes...and a whole lot of other things I can't think of.

I like the brunch MUCH better than the dinner. Other than the filet and their special pizzas, I think you can get food just as good in the main dining rooms, and I hate leaving our servers for the night to go to Palo.

None of the shore excursions interest me, especially after the activities on the Australia trip. I will just sleep on this one.

The brunch looks fabulous!!! Doesn't help that I'm already hungry ... now I'm starving. The oysters on the 1/2 shell look yummy. We're definitely going to try to do brunch. What's the dress code at brunch? Same as dinner?

Happy Valentine's
  Day!
Hope everyone has a special day today. Ashley & I are already up. Kids wound up in bed with us around 5:45 AM due to the rain. I never went back to sleep. Ashley & I got up at 6:20 ... sad when it's your sleep-in day. We have plans to go over to another family's house for dinner tonight. Girls will have sleepovers afternoon ... 2 younger ones at our house & 3 older ones at the other house.

The Love of my Life simply adores good French onion soup, so I thought I could give it the ole college try and have onions in a crock pot to start the carmelization process (yes I know I'm cheating, but I don't have time to sit by the stove to do it right) and then spend the rest of the afternoon finishing the soup and throw some T-bones on the Weber. I will no longer grimence over the price of the soup since it takes so long to make.:stir: Thats what I'm doing for V-day.

Thanks!! I'm half way done with the FE but at a loss for some things to do.
Those pictures look great...can't wait for our brunch!!!! I LOVE bread...and I've heard good things about the bread. I forget what the dress is for palos brunch...i think the same as dinner.

For Valentines, DH is working today! It's 12:15 pm and mom and my ds are still both sleeping...I've already been up, and taken a nap! LOL can you say it's a lazy day???? I was woken up to someone knocking on my door...WHAT? Oh, flowers!! Since my dh is working...he had roses deliverd to me! Very sweet!! I really thought we had discussed the no flowers or gifts this time...trying to save $$ for our big trip. But I have to say I enjoyed getting them!!! For dinner DH will stop on the way home and pick up some pizza! DS and I had started ordering pizza when I was a single mom...I wanted a day off of cooking...so we still do that! Very low key, nice day planned!

WOW! I'm impressed! Hubby offered to cook steaks for us, but we ended up deciding to try a new Mexican restaurant in town. He was going to go by there today to see if we needed a reservation, but I doubt we do...it's kind of off the beaten path.

YUM!!! You're killing me with all these pictures! I can't wait.

There have been a lot of cruises where I said all I was going to do was rest, and then we pull into port and I just can't do it....I have to at least go out and explore.

Yummy - I love French onion soup.

Happy V- Day everyone.

We had a baby naming this morning and they served lunch, then we went to my parents for a family tea as my SIL's mom is going back to Israel tomorrow and my brother got back from China yesterday. He spoilt me and gave my a string of pearls.

It's our anniversary next Saturday so we will go out for dinner then so staying in today and having some grilled chicken, veg and salad.

Have fun all.

What's a baby naming?? Is it the same thing (basically) as a christening?

My soup turned out okay, but cooking something you never tasted is just about as hard trying to talking DCL into a upgrade from a cat 12 to Roy's suite. I took most of my day carmelizing those onions, lucky I have lots of Dutch Ovens from the boy scouts and it made life alot easier. I am sitting here first thing in the morning doing dishes and watching an interview with one of my favorite stars Meat Loaf, quite entertaining till they showed high lights from one of his recent concerts. I was so disappointed, the man should of retired years ago, and who ever talked him into the live concert scene again, and told him he still could sing should be ashamed of them selfs.
