May 21, 2012 - Mickey's Mooseketeers Take Alaska 2012!

Hi all. I just came across this website and forums. We (my hubby, myself and our 4yr son) will be sailing with you! This is our first ever cruise!!

Welcome to our group! We are having a great time getting more excited by the day for our upcoming cruise. Glad to have you "aboard" :-)

Thank you for the welcomes. I am almost overwhelmed at the amount of helpful information I have found on these forums!

My daughter and I made our very first cruise on the Disney Wonder in 2008. I have to say, we were spoiled by making Disney our first cruise :-) We have been on one different cruise line since that time and although the prices are often less expensive on the other lines, we have a hard time booking on anything except Disney. We keep saying we are going to, but somehow it doesn't happen :-) This will be our fourth Disney cruise and we currently have one more planned for next year in March. I think if we lived closer to a port, we would go on other cruise lines occasionally to check them out, but by the time we get to any port (and it's proving to be just as expensive to go to Vancouver and Seattle from Albuquerque as it is to go to Port Canaveral) the travel costs are prohibitive to going too often even if the cruise is very cheap.

I know you will enjoy your first cruise experience in Disney. We certainly did :-)

Hubby and I have talked about taking a cruise since before we were married, and Alaska has always been on our list of places to visit. On a whim one day we stopped by a TA just to see what our options were. Next thing I know we are putting a deposit down and Alaska bound! We have wanted to take our son to Disney World but wanted to wait until he was old enough to really enjoy it and remember it. I have heard Disney spoils you!

That's true in general, but it is especially true on the ships. The rotational dining works such that your servers move with you from restaurant to restaurant for the whole cruise and they somehow remember what everyone likes. On our last cruise we fell in love with a particular dessert and told our server how much we liked it. He made a special point of getting it for us without us even asking, several times during the cruise. One day we went to lunch in one of the restaurants instead of the buffet, and he was working there. As we were finishing up our lunch, he brought us the same dessert :-)

You will certainly not have a problem getting used to being treated like royalty :-)

It just dawned on us that we'll get to see The Avengers in 3D on the ship.

Woo Hoo. :)

Disney owns Marvel, The Avengers cast was at D23, but it looks like the movie is a Paramount release, so I guess my "PremEAR" at see will have to be The Muppets that I still haven't seen.

I wonder if movie in the Walt Disney theater will be DisneyNature: Chimpanzee? I know it comes out before the Avengers, but it seems more family-friendly...

Aww.. I am so disappointed that the whole FE thing is closed. I just learned about it. This will be our first cruise and we'll have two girls with us, age 9 and 7.

Hi zenjennn!

Several people had to place orders for their items and needed the lead time to be able to create their gifts, so we had to close it earlier this month.

However, I know Mom (MsTxMom) and I do have some extra gifts, and there may be others who do, too. I can add you to the list with a note about your join date - that way if people do have extras they can share with you. But please understand that not everyone will have extras and won't be able to play the FE game with you.

If you are ok with that arrangement, please PM your information to me (including your e-mail address) and I will get you on the list!

I doubt the move in the Walt Disney Theatre will be a Disney nature film, but I know they will be playing that over and over in the movie theater. That will most likely be the most recent Disney release. (I'm assuming it's coming out on earth day like the others)

In other news. The avengers is playing at the El Capitan, so maybe we do have a shot.
