May 21, 2012 - Mickey's Mooseketeers Take Alaska 2012!

Contrary to what others have been told by DCL this CM said that there won't be a Pirate Night on any AK trip this season. Just repeating what I was told:confused:

See ya real soon!! :yay:

Thanks for the movie update!

I called the Castaway Club number myself today regarding Pirate Night, because the kiddies will be very upset with me if I don't bring pirate attire and there is a pirate night. The CM I spoke with simply read off "There will be no pirate menu on this cruise." When I said that I knew that they had replaced it with the Taste of Alaska menu, she apologized and said she would read on. She then said that they would be having the pirate deck party. So I guess we'll pack the pirate costumes after all...I wonder if a lot of the CMs are just reading the part about the menu and assuming that means no pirate night. Who knows?? We've had so many different answers.

BTW, whoever it was that asked about Tim Horton's - or Timmy's, as we lovingly call it: it's a coffee shop. You'll find them on just about every corner (in Ontario, at least - I'm sure there's probably just as many in BC).

We did :rotfl2: but that's okay - we can eat the evidence if need be. Actually - since I haven't made them yet - I probably won't. We were making chocolate pirate suckers. I have all the chocolate but I can always use it for something else and go with plan B. no sense bringing them if there is a chance there is no PN.

We were told that there just isn't fireworks. I am fine either way... I don't really dress up - just a pirate t-shirt and jeans.
Des,
Why would we need to have a pirate night to eat a chocolate pirate sucker? :-) I would like a chocolate pirate sucker anytime :-) Part of our stuff for the kids is pirate related, and since Pirates is Disney anyway, I don't plan to change it.

In any case, I do think there probably will be a Pirates' night after the information I got from the lady who researched it for me for several hours and told me she went to the top to get the info :-)

When I called the last time, I got a CM who told me that there unequivocally was no pirates night on our cruise, so I told him I wanted to talk to his supervisor. I got a CM that I am pretty sure was a supervisor and she did a lot of research to come up with an answer, but what she told me was that the way the stuff was worded for the CMs was VERY confusing and even she couldn't understand what it meant, hence the research she did with the final word that there DEFINITELY WILL BE a pirate night. I have her name and extension if anyone would like to talk to her. So, I do think we'll have a pirate deck party after all. BTW, it was me who was interested in Tim Hortons...so Thanks :-

It's hard to believe, but two weeks from tomorrow, Mom and I will be flying to Seattle for this trip! It's almost here!

If you're participating in the FE, please check your e-mail. I've sent the updated list with Heather's info for those who have extras.

Have a great weekend!

Uh oh. I tripped and fell at work last Sunday, landing full weight on my right hand. Two trips to the hospital later, and nothing is broken, but I managed to tear the sagital bands on the back of my hand which hold a tendon in place, so that now I can't bend my pinky knuckle without completely dislocating the tendon around the side of the knuckle. Long explanation, the short version of which is that now I have to see a hand surgeon on Tuesday to discuss options for repair. It seems like the conservative approach is splinting and physical therapy, with the traditional (and more likely approach due to the nature of my injury) option being surgery, then splinting and physical therapy. Neither of these options sounds promising for any active excursions, and now I am worried about the whole traveling aspect at all. So, we are working on cancelling/rethinking both ziplining and kayaking, since there is no way I will have full use on my right hand. Booo! I will hopefully find out Tuesday what will be happening, but let's just hope that I can still travel at all! :worried: :scared1:

:scared1: I thought it was bad that now one of my girls are sick (and the others always follow)... Good luck Tuesday!

We just changed our excursion in Skagway from a Disney excursion to a different version. We decided to take the White Pass Summit Rail and Bus Excursion combination to the Summit with Chilkoot Charters and Tours, and wondered if anyone else was doing the same. They have two tours that pick us up at the terminal at 8:30 AM. One goes up on the train and back on the bus and the other goes up on the bus and back on the train (we will be on this one). The Disney excursion we originally planned was train both ways and didn't stop for pics. This one stops on the bus part for pics, which was what we wanted. Some of the Disney ones go up and back on train and bus, but they do a lot of other stuff that we didn't think we were interested in and could pretty much do on our own, so we opted for the tour only. Anyway, just wondered if anyone else is booked on this tour.

I posted this on facebook too, but some people arent there, so I thought I would post both places.

That's awful! I sure hope you will still be able to make the trip. Taking more easy going excursions will be disappointing, but I sure hope you still get to go.

Oh no!! I hope everything works out for you - hopefully you'll just have to change a few excursions but can still enjoy the trip! Too bad - we were looking forward to a good ziplining group!

Hi Mary,

My parents are doing this tour, but are taking the train up and the bus back (it leaves at 7:30, I believe). It sounds like a great tour - they're really excited about it.

When I checked on it we planned to do the train/bus, but by the time I got around to booking it that one was full so we had to do the bus/train. No biggie. Just so long as we get to do each leg in a different way so we can stop and take pics :-)

We spent a lot of time agonizing over which one they should do. I came to the conclusion that it doesn't really matter which order you do it in (I hope). Should be a fantastic excursion. My family decided not to do it because we thought that our 5 year old wouldn't do so well couped up in the train/bus for so long (no need to torture our fellow passengers). We're doing the Takshanuk Mountain Trail 4x4 instead - we can use our "outside voices" on that one.

We thought about it after I booked it and decided that we kind of liked the bus first because we could take our pictures on the way up and just relax and enjoy on the train on the way back. The train will probably be more comfortable than the bus, and we like trains a lot, so we're really good with the order we got. We would have been happy with the other one too, but either way, I think it will be a great tour.

Prayers coming your way for quick healing and being able to travel.
