May 21, 2012 - Mickey's Mooseketeers Take Alaska 2012!

Hey everyone. We just transferred our MR cruise to join you all in Alaska.

While we were looking forward to cruising ten minutes from our house in Long Beach, we weren't too excited about Mexico. We found ourselves going to be in Seattle next May, so we changed to this cruise.

Tonight, booked our 1 way train fare from Seattle to Vancouver on the Cascades and Emailed DU to move the cruise.

Tomorrow, if no email by the time I wake up, search for DU phone number that I've seen posted before.

Our reservation is officially changed. This is my first cruise with a travel agent, DU, and not being able to make the change myself was a bit frustrating, but in less than a day it was done. The OBC will be worth it. :)

In reading post one. (I'll PM you soon with our info)
From DIS I know what Fish Extenders exchanges are. What is Secret Mickey? I'm assuming it's "secret santa" type thing, but what's the difference between Secret Mickey and Fish Extenders?

Secret Mickey is usually set up as a secret pal, rather than a give to all participants kind of thing. The last cruise I was on that did a Secret Mickey had one person take all the names for those who wanted to participate and she mixed them up and gave each participant a name for someone else who was participating. We put a dollar cap on the cruise and people could either do one item or several smaller ones throughout the week.

FEs are usually set up where you give to all participants. Generally once per cruise, but some people do 1-2 smaller gifts.

Hope this helps!

Sounds good. Unfortunately, I put Maybe for both right now. We're taking the Coast Starlight up from LA to Seattle, so luggage might be an issue. Have to check on the train rules. On a plus side, booking the train trip is what had us be in Seattle, which is what inspired us to move the cruise from Mexico to Alaska.

Hello fellow cruisers! My DH and I are so excited to have booked this cruise. What a great itinerary! We booked a couple of weeks ago while on another cruise and couldn't wait to say hello on the meets board. We will definitely want to be on the FE list. We had so much fun participating this past cruise.

Hope everyone is beating this crazy Summer heat! Alaska sounds great right about now, doesn't it? :)

Welcome!!

The heat's bad down here right now - we're on track to break the record for consecutive days of 100+ temps this Saturday. Thank heavens for air conditioning and all the great pictures of Alaska cruises from this summer!

We are cruising B2B on this trip along with the California repositioning cruise on 5/14. We are so excited and can't wait. We did the DVC exchange cruise with Holland America to Alaska in 2006. It's been fun reading the forums about this years cruises to Alaska. Looking forward to meeting our fellow DISney fans - Wagner Family

Welcome!!

I'm jealous! We looked at doing that, but decided the cost (and the time off from work) was too much this go around.

Did you all notice, May 21st is Victoria Day in Canada! Maybe we'll get to see some fireworks that evening as we leave Vancouver!

We're also doing the B2B. We have only ever done 1 cruise - 15 nights so I have no idea how anyone can do anything shorter :)

It's super exciting to see fellow B2B cruisers. We have always said one week wasn't enough, so we are giving this a try. I'm happy about the ports on the repositioning - love SF and Victoria!

That would be so cool!

We are joining the B2B!

I did notice this! I'd love to see some sort of celebration in honor of the holiday. We'll keep out fingers crossed! :)

We'll be joining you on this cruise (sadly we're not doing the B2B)! Right now it's just myself and DH. We'll be celebrating our 5th anniversary on 5/25, and we haven't decided for sure if we'll do an official vow renewal onboard or not. If we do, we may have some other family and friends join us.

Initially we weren't interested in the DCL Alaska cruises, as the itinerary doesn't include everything we'd like. But eventually we decided we really wanted a Disney tie in for our anniversary and we wanted to go someplace new. We had narrowed it down to ABD or the Alaska cruise and finally settled on the cruise. Now that we're going, I'm getting pretty excited about it, though!

and we land in Seattle on Memorial Day....

I know - I'm waiting anxiously for Southwest to release their airfares - hopefully we can swipe a good deal before the rest of the world realizes that's a holiday weekend and starts buying their flights! We're actually flying in/out of Seattle and taking the train - it's so much less expensive than flying into Vancouver for us!

Welcome! And congrats on the anniversary!
