May 20th 2006 Western Magic Cruise - Who's Going?

Just wanted you all to know I got my refund from Dolphin Discovery today. I feel horrible about having to miss it, but from what I read on these boards it is unlikely it will be open for our trip. I just did'nt want to take a chance of not being able to get my $ back later. If we go to Cozumel we will most likely try and do the Fury Cat. Sail, Snorkel and Beach Party.

Getting back to the black coral question.....

I bought a black coral necklace in Grand Cayman and was wearing it when I got off the ship back in the US. I had no trouble at all. It looks so much like Onyx. I had no idea there were restrictions of bringing it back from Mexico!

So, I was thinking about booking our Stingray excursion through Nativeway in Grand Cayman. I was reading a really positive trip report about them and it sounds good. Maybe the "Rays, Reef, and Rum Point" outing. It meets on the pier at 9:00 am. Do you guys think we will be able to tender in that early? Anyone else use them?
BTW, I heard that Dolphin Discovery in Cozumel is definately not opening until June. I feel so much better now that I got a refund. I would have been upset had they opened before our cruise and I had cancelled.

anty30, I don't have any personal experience with Nativeway but I've read good things about them on the cruise critic boards. I'm sure you've checked those out too. I think Rum Point sounds great but since this is our first time in Grand Cayman I didn't want to tie up our whole day with an excursion. After our stingray excursion with Sotos, we will decide if we want them to drop us off at 7 mile beach or back in Georgetown to do some shopping.

From what I've been told on these boards, you should be okay with tendering by 9am. We have to meet Soto's at 8:45 a.m. I plan to be ready to get our tender tickets as soon as they start giving them out which is at 7:30 a.m., I think.

I'm glad you got your money back from the dolphin swim. That's one less thing to worry about. I wish we knew for sure which port we'll be going too. I just talked to our travel agent about a college spring break trip for my DD and me and she didn't recommend anyone going to Cancun or Cozumel yet as some resorts were just partially opened. The Mayan Riveria area was ok though.

Donna

thanks donmil.
I actually did a search online for a different travel agent that specialized in cruises. I called the 800# from the site and the TA on the phone told me that as far as they know, our cruise is going to Costa Maya. I acted as though I were interested in booking it and told her that the DCL website listed Cozumel on their itinerary and she said that they had been notified of a change and that they believe that cruise is going to Costa Maya.
That being said, my DH is telling me I am crazy and to stop thinking about it because it really does not matter where we go. I think I have to just let it go, for the sake of my marriage.

Ok :grouphug: what night is pirate pirate: again :confused3 I don't want to book Palo for pirate night on lobster night :lmao: Thanks :hourglass

anty30 - we have booked the nativeways reef, rays and rum point. I think it should be a lot of fun and gets great reviews on cruise critic. My kids are a little freaked about the whole thing but hopefully it will be ok.

was thinking of going to paradise beach in cozumel (again, great reviews on cruise critic) but will check out the fury catamaran trip as it does end up at paradise beach!

got my Palo ressies today as some of you saw, it is a relief to have that done, now I can obsess about something else!!!!

do you ever wonder with all this planning and hype if one could be disappointed??? I have wanted to do this cruise for so long that I really hope it lives up to my (rather high) expectations!! Oh well, it will still beat work, cooking, laundry.....

Thanks for the info, anty30. I don't care if we go to Cozumel or to Costa Maya but I just wish we knew for sure so we could plan, plan, plan!!!!!!!!!!! My DH thinks I'm an obsessive planner. (Hehe, don't tell him, but I KNOW I AM!!!)

I'm so excited! I went shopping this weekend and I got my outfits for formal and semi formal nights! For semi-formal, I'm wearing a black guaze like sleeveless blouse with a rhinestone clip and matching pants. I got it at the Jones Store for $37 with tax, regularly priced at $129. And for formal night, I bought a red beaded top for $22 at Dillards. It was regularly priced at $89! I'll wear the same dressy blank pants with it! So for less than $60, I got both of my outfits! DH is wearing a dark suit for formal night and just a long sleeved shirt with tie and his suit pants for semi-formal. DD hasn't found anything yet but it will probably be a little black dress for formal night. How about you all?

I don't know what is more fun--planning our trip or shopping for it!!!!!!

Donna

I too, will wear black dress pants and just change the tops. Sounds like you got a good buy donmil. Good for you. DD has just bought a new dress at American Girl to wear, and of course she still has about 6 dresses from last year that still fit. DS will wear a polo shirt with a sweater vest on formal night. DH will not wear a suit. He wears one everyday and refuses to do so on vaca. He will wear what he wears on his casual work days. This is what I have been told. So, that is fine with me. Don't want him to be grumpy on vacation if I push him to bring a suit. I am just too joyful at the idea that we are going on the cruise to worry about his wardrobe.

So, anyone know how to go about planning a meet for us? I would love to meet all of you.

I better not tell DH that your DH isn't wearing a suit. Of course, my DH doesn't wear a suit everyday (we raise beef cattle on our farm) so it won't hurt him to wear his one and only suit one night on the cruise. He really doesn't mind wearing a suit, its the tie that really bothers him! I don't blame your DH for not wearing a suit. On your vacation, you should be able to do and wear what you want.

Yes, we really need to plan a meet. What about something at the sailaway party?

Donna

Ok Dis friends :grouphug: , my timer :hourglass says we will reach the 99 day mark before this day is over party: :jumping1: :rockband: :car: :rainbow:

I am so excited, :yay:  can you tell. :cool1:

I can now start organizing all of the little things that I have bought and stashed away for the cruise. I am more of dress person, so I alrealy have a few new dresses that I bought in the last 6 months for formal galas. Along with all of my planning I created a cloths buget that's pretty nice, so I am sure that will be all the reason I need to buy more dresses. :sunny:

Ok I have a tie story :rolleyes2
One of the doctors that I work with, who never wheres a tie was forced to by his wife and ended up in the Emergency room thinking he was having a heart attack. He swears it was the tie, and maybe the few pounds he had gained since he wore the suit. So be sure to do a fit test. :smooth:

I have formals that I already own from various events we attend thoughout the year. My DH owns his tux so that won't be an issue either. We do enjoy dressing up so for us it is just another excuse and we get some great pictures! I am getting so excited, time is flying!!! Look forward to seeing everyone- we have made plans to stay at Ron Jon's Thursday and Friday nights.

echo queen, what a funny story about the tie. Not only will we have to try out the tie but also the suit as DH tends to gain weight and then lose it.

Sounds like we're all going to be dressed like queens and kings or princesses and princes!

WOW! Less than 99 days! I'm so looking forward to another Disney cruise!

Donna

donmil suggested we try and meet at the sailaway party. That sounds like a plan. This is my first Disney Cruise, so you guys tell me, do you stand on deck 9 or 10?
