May 20th 2006 Western Magic Cruise - Who's Going?

That's WONDERFUL!!! I printed a week of old navigators from the platinum castaway club and got really excited. I can't wait to do all of the fun things like the art of entertaining and backstage on the ship!!!!!!!! When I saw the navigator for the last day I really got sad...I just can't wait we are still trying to figure out what to do!

DH and I are planning on leaving the kids on the boat for a few hours and hitting Key West by ourselves. We want to see the southernmost point, Hemmingways house, and just stroll around for awhile. Anybody have suggestions about what is a must-see? I'm open.

Hey Anty....

I think you got your Key West plans sound great! I would also recommend either the train or trolley tour although you can't get off at any of the Landmark's - it's just a guided tour which is a pitfall. My DH and I are probably going to see some of things we missed out on last year - Hemingway house (which closes at 5), Southern most point, where Route 1 starts etc. I would recommend also having lunch at Sloppy Joe's! Now that we know the historic area - I think we can brave it on our own!

4 mos and counting....!!!

It is so exciting when all the plans are done. I too, have paid in full for the cruise, purchased rt air (American $165 pp), booked our car from Budget, and booked the Raddison at the port. I had booked and paid for the Dolphin Disc. in Coz., but canceled and I am waiting on a refund to my Visa. If we go there, we will just do something else. The waiting is killing me. If we like the cruise (which I am sure we will), we are going to book one for next year onboard. I think it is discounted and you get an onboard credit.

Yes ::yes:: anty30 there is a 10% discount and $200 ship account credit. :cool1: :cool1:

We booked this cruise while on board last March. :earsgirl:

Just wondered if anyone noticed the hidden Mickey and Minnie on the cruise packet that you got in the mail.

We have paid for the cruise, but not booked our hotel yet. We always drive since we are about 6 hours away. We are thinking about coming a couple of days in advance and staying at Ron Jon or doing WDW. Still haven't decided.
I didn't notice the Hidden Mickey, I will have to go and look for it. I am not making signs for our door but I am going to wear my DIS green Mickey head on my laynard in the port. Maybe we should try and find each other in the port for a little pre-boarding party!
Of course, I really want to be invited to the Walt suite- after 7 DCL cruises- we still have never seen anything lower than ::MickeyMo a category 4!

I plan to have a dis board green ::yes:: paint chip mickey pin at the port as well, with my screen name on it. I don't know how easy it will be for us to get together in the terminal but I'm game for meeting you all. :chat:

Just wanted all of you girls to know. That I went to Davids Bridal to look around they are having their $99 dress sale. Anyways they have some nice formal ones on sale. I picked up my cruise formal dress for $50.00. Check it out if you are looking for some nicer clothing to take with you!

That sounds like a great deal Jonette :hyper:

lilo I don't have any paperwork eighther :sad1:

I remember planning my wedding. What fun. A little stressful, but fun. I plan on bringing black dress pants that I can wear to both dress nights, and then just changing the top I wear with them. I will also bring black strappy sandals with a heel that I can wear both nights. I feel like I will need so many shoes: sandals, water shoes, sneakers, sandals with a heel. The kids will most likely wear their sandals with everything. DD of course has 3 different types to wear. DS will only wear 1 type, Tivas. DH, I guess, will bring dress shoes, (casual ones, not the ones he wears with a suit), sandals, and sneakers. DH, DD, and DS all have Tivas, so they will wear them in the water as well. Oh, the packing list gets bigger and bigger.

Hi Everyone!

I just checked cruisecal.com and it now shows the Magic going to Cozumel on our cruise. But it didn't show the times we'd be in port so maybe its still questionable. Hopefully, when the first Disney cruises return to Cozumel next month, we'll hear good reports about Cozumel's condition.

In Key West, I think we'll walk around on our own or do the Old Town Trolley. I'm waiting to get some tourist info from Shirley at The Perfect Gift before I make our final decision.

I've also been researching our excursions on Grand Cayman. I think we'll do one of the short 2-3 hour stingray city/snorkel tours on our own. I've emailed Soto's, Captain Marvin's, Nativeway, and Moby Dick Tours. They all replied promptly. I'm leaning toward Soto's as they are only 2 hours and we want to go to Seven Mile Beach for a little while and do a little shopping. Have to take the 21 year olds to Hard Rock Cafe for t-shirts! LOL! What excursions are the rest of you doing on Key West and Grand Cayman?

I haven't looked much at Cozumel since it's still up in the air as to whether or not we'll actually dock there.

Isn't it fun planning?

Donna

Hello Donna, I to love planning. I requested the info packet from Shirley too. I would like a short excursion on GC too. I am going to check into Sotos. I am thinking we could take our DS's for the stingrays then my Dh boys could go back to ship and I could do a little shopping. :flower:

Does anybody know why we can't bring black coral back from Mexico? I never heard of it before, but now that I have, I am interested.

I think you can buy black coral as long as you get a certificate of some sort when you buy it. Do a search on the Dis for black coral or else on cruisecritic.com. I think I saw some threads on the grand cayman board on cruise critic.
