MAY 2020 WISH Challenge - Anything is Possible

After a couple beautiful sunny days it’s overcast and a little cooler. I fixed myself a nice breakfast and enjoyed a recorded program (The Zoo on Animal Planet!). I will go for a walk later and then call my sister for a nice chat.

Another Motivation Monday is here, and I hope you’re still able to focus on another week of healthy living.

Whether you’re trying to lose or maintain your weight, it’s another opportunity to share our experiences and cheer each other on.

What’s motivating you this week?

We had summer like weather these past couple days, so that means lighter clothes. I need to be mindful of my portions and snacking because just a few extra pounds makes a difference how my clothes fit. I have meals planned out for the next few days and I have grapes or mandarin oranges for snacking.

I got off track with MyFitnessPal when I took my dad to the ER last week. TODAY is a great day to get back to it! I have a watermelon cut up for snacking and meals planned for the week.

Today I’m taking my husband to his doctors appointment for his neck pain. He’s getting a steroid injection that he was supposed to get a few weeks ago, but was delayed due to Covid. Hoping this helps with his pain.

Motivation this week is getting back into the work routine, and making sure my steps don't fall off too dramatically now that I can't just go for a walk whenever I want to. With the long days right now I can get out for a quick morning walk, and I also intend on getting out at lunchtime to make sure I get a proper break.

Other motivation is that yesterday I started a 21 day meditation "challenge", I'm looking to having it help me establish a regular practice.

That sounds interesting! Through our work medical insurance, we have free access to Headspace. I’ve done it a few times, but really need to make it more part of my routine. I’m thinking of doing it at lunch time. I usually get up, exercise, then get right to work, barely making time for lunch. But I think it would be good for me to take the time after lunch for a Headspace session.

The one I'm doing is from Gabby Bernstein, the author of the book 'Super Attractor', that I recently read. I need to find the best time to do it, I'm thinking in the early morning to set myself up for the day. I did yesterday's twice because my mind wandered so much I barely heard half of it... looking for significant improvement there!

What’s your favorite park? Hmm... It is not EPCOT (least favorite) but I like all the others. I will have to say MK though

What’s your favorite land in Magic Kingdom? Fantasy. Lots of rides that I remember as a kids that I love.

What’s your favorite pavilion in World Showcase? None. I get very bored in the World Showcase.

What’s your favorite thrill ride? I am not a thrill ride lover. But I do like Big Thunder Mountain and the Mine Train. I will ride Splash but I really hate the drop at the end. If it wasn't for this I would love this ride.

What’s your favorite show? I am not sure. I really like all of them. Though I have not seen Finding Nemo yet.

What’s your favorite restaurant? Teppen Edo is our favorite and Liberty Tree Tavern is a very close second

What’s your favorite snack? We don't really snack much while there. On hot days anything that is cold is great.

What’s your favorite Disney World Resort?
I will have to say Coronado or POR. I like Coronado because it has doors that close to separate the room from the bathroom area. POR is just beautiful.

This sounds interesting. I think we all need something like this right now when things are so unsettling.

I had a pretty good weekend. Friday was a bit rough as we had lots of flooding in our area. 3 inches of rain in a short time. We did flood but it was only the screened in sun porch so no big deal. The end of our road really flooded. Cars kept trying to go through it and then getting stuck and stalling out.

Saturday we got up and started to clean the house. After cleaning we made the kids go for a walk. We were gone for about an hour or longer. It was good for them as neither one of them are leaving the house much. Later in the afternoon we did a Google Meet with Jeff's family. That was a lot of fun.

Sunday we got up and the kids and I weeded the front yard for about 2 hours. After that Elizabeth and I cleaned the upstairs. It is kind of like an attic but part of it is finished. Since the air is not regulated up there (cold in the winter and hot in the summer) we have just been throwing stuff up their. So we filled my car with stuff for Good Will and it is all out of our house now. Much more to do but it was a start.

Now today I am really sore. I am hoping to get out for a walk to today to keep moving but we are supposed to have tons a rain again. We will see how this goes.

I really struggle with this! And I like water-plain or sparkling. Our tap water is very good. I just find the day is nearly over and I have had maybe a glass of water (usually with dinner) and that’s it.

What are some of the ways you get enough water through out the day?

And this article has motivated me to up my intake, but I would love to hear how you all make sure you’re getting enough every day.

I've always been a big drinker. Pretty much if there's liquid in front of me, I will drink it lol! I have a 24 ounce cup at work and my goal is to drink one cup full every hour before lunch. I go in at 7, so I try to fill it at 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. I don't drink as much in the afternoons for some reason, but if I'm able to do that, I feel pretty good about my daily water intake. I usually drink water with my lunch, but for dinner I have a harder time with it for some reason. I usually drink lemonade with supper and then diet coke after supper. I know I should give that up, but so far, I haven't made it a priority.

On the weekend, when I'm home, I'm very bad about drinking water. That's what I really need to work on. I'm not sure what my mental block is about drinking water at home during the day.

How is everyone doing?

quick hi
I am finally getting on with weight loss properly, I lost 13lbs since 10th February. it's slow, I expect things to speed up now as the weather si good and I am in good form. I also joined half size community and I am finding it helpful right now

How are your own personal self improvement and weight loss exercise journeys going? I miss the chatter, I may try to drop in more regularly

It’s so great to hear from you! Wow! 13lbs is awesome! Way to go! I’ve definitely been going the opposite direction during these last few months at home. I was in a much better routine at school. It seems like you found what works for you! :cheer2:

@sjrec that was an interesting article. It’s always been interesting to me that water, something that seems so simple and basic, can effect so much in our body. But I guess it makes sense since our bodies are 60% water.

Im a lot like @ski_mom .in that I have a routine while working, but not when I’m at home. At school, I was good about having a cup or water bottle with me at all times. I would drink at least one and refill it before kids came in in the morning. Then I would be sure to drink it and refill at each break (morning recess, lunch break, & special). I usually have water for dinner too...unless we go out to eat. Water in restaurants never tastes as good to me. But since we’re at home, I haven’t done as well. I have the cup with me in my classroom office at home. But I don’t have regularly scheduled breaks when I fill it. I definitely need to improve there! And I’m never as good in the summer. I just usually drink when I get hot 🥵

I try to fill a water bottle or travel mug early in the morning, so I get a good start. But I'm not always great about refilling, so the bigger bottle I start with the better.

I think it's normal to lose your stride when you're out of routine. I'm not bad about water now, but I was still way better years ago when I had a desk job. It wouldn't be unusual for me then to drink a water on the train in, one at my desk over the morning, one at lunch, the afternoon, train home, and dinner. There was just something about having it sitting right there. At home, I'm all over the house, so it's not the same.
