MAY 2020 WISH Challenge - Anything is Possible

@MickeyMom76 I hope your dad is ok.

Here is an update on my sister -- She claims that she is fine now. So I don't know. I do know that she can't be completely back to normal because she has not been posting on Facebook. She typically posts several times a day. I am hoping she is better though.

I do have another Woohoo from yesterday. it came later in the day. Elizabeth and I both got an email from her math teacher stating that she choose Elizabeth to do this math program over the summer. It is 3 hrs of work week to be done at her leisure. The email stated that this could possibly booster her into being in honors math. Elizabeth is going to do. She loves math. She also at times gets upset because she is not as smart as Nick. As an 8th grades Nick is taking 9th grade Math, German, and science. He is also in advanced English and Social Studies. The kid is super smart but needs to just turn in his work. Elizabeth on the other hand has struggled especially in English. In 3rd grade she found out that the "reading club" she was going to was not for everyone and just students that needed extra help and Nick didn't have to go. That night was rough. She called herself dumb and there was lots of tears. Though I told her that we all of something we need to work on and English was hers and Nick was his speech and for me it was both. It took us several years but we got her up to her level and she is just a normal kid in all of her subjects. She was so excited that this opportunity can get her into advanced classes. I did explain that she may still not end up in advanced math but if she isn't this would give her a boost for next year. I didn't want her to get her hopes up if she didn't get into the advanced class.

What I am Thankful for -- Teachers. They have been so helpful through this. I was always one that was on their side to start with because my mom is a teacher but I have seen a different side in them. Some of the teachers that I didn't care for while in school are doing such an awesome job being home. While I do have one that was great while school was in session that I know can't even get her to return an email to me or Nick. I know all of the teachers are doing there best with something that is totally new to them on top of dealing with the pandemic in general.

I found this today and it is so true for me. When I look at one day at a time or one week at a time, it seems like it will be forever before there will be a difference. But, when you think about how quickly 3 months comes and goes, you realize the the days and weeks turn into months and years and it absolutely does matter. Even though I have close to 100 pounds total to lose, (which sounds completely daunting), in 3 months, if I keep working my plan, it will make a difference and I will thank myself for sticking with it!
I am thankful that you posted this quote. It kind of shook me out of my paralyzed state. I have been feeling stuck. I felt good about maintaining my weight loss within 5 pounds, but staying in limbo like I have been hasn't done me any good. My doctor looked me in the eye (through the computer screen) and said, "Take care of yourself." Doctors say that all of the time. But she was dead serious.

I woke up this morning with a new attitude. I ate a healthy breakfast. I walked on the beach for 30 minutes. In two minutes, I am teaching online.

Thank you to all of you for motivating me to be my best self!

Thankful for the rain this morning, keeping everything green. And it is supposed to burn off mid-day so we'll also get some good sunshine as well.

Thankful that I finally get to take my ferry boat ride tomorrow and then my road trip out to Port Townsend. I'm going to catch an early boat and then spend time at Ft Warden before heading over to my Niece's for our socially distant lunch in her back yard... so looking forward to it.

Also looking forward to and thankful for returning to work Monday. I now have the opportunity to change the way I do my job, based on the things I've learned about myself while being out on furlough.... which is another thankful (having had this the time to learn). One of my friend co-workers, who I've worked with for 10 years, decided to take the early retirement offer, it is sad to not be seeing her any longer. We'll do some sort of party later in the year, when such things are allowed and safe to do.

Thankful all friends and family are healthy and still employed, at least those that had jobs still have them.

And as always, thankful for all of you!

That looks amazing! Sadly, we had to cancel our first family trip to an all-inclusive resort. We were supposed to go to Mexico this summer as a combined celebration of the twins 16th birthday and our 20th wedding anniversary. The resort is reopening next month, but we are not comfortable leaving the country while all of this with the virus is still uncertain. So we booked a house in the Outer Banks instead. So I’ve been looking at beach pictures for the last two days just dreaming of being able to get away. Glad you were able to enjoy a night away and a walk on the beach! Just curious are you in a red county in PA or are you in the yellow? I’m originally from central PA (Selinsgrove) and they are now yellow and starting to lift restrictions. But here in southeast PA, we are still red.
We are in York County-still red. People are getting testy. We’re fortunate to be able to stay home and we have an income coming in. Even if things ease up it will be a while before I feel like eating in a restaurant or going to a hair or nail salon.
I’m sorry you had to cancel your trip, but everyone I know that travels to the Outer Banks loves it.

It’s Thankful Thursday!

ight now I am thankful that my sister & brother in law are doctors. I’m always thankful for what they do. However, last night at 10:30 my BiL got a call from my mom that my dad couldn’t get out of bed. He hit his side a week or so ago. And the proceeded to keep doing lots of yard work this week including 2 pickup truck loads of mulch. So they think it’s muscular. I’m going over to take care of my nephew since my parents usually do that while my sister and BiL work. And I might be taking my dad in for a CT scan as well today. I’m prepared with masks, wipes and hand sanitizer.

Also thankful we are all living so close now that we can help each other out like this.

And I’m thankful for the sun shining and beautiful weather forecasted for today!

What are you thankful for today?
Hope your father is better today!

That is such a good goal. DD1 has been walking a lot every day. I would love to walk with her, but I've been having problems with my heal. When I google it, it looks like to could be that plantar fasciitis. If that's what it is, it looks like mostly you are just supposed to rest it. If it's not better soon, I may end up going to the doctor for it, but I haven't decided yet.

I have this. Try using a tennis ball and roll your foot on it. Also, you can do stretches. These help.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will try them. DD found a new walking place - our town has a small lake with a walking path around it. It has been closed, but they recently reopened it to walkers as long as you social distance. It's so pretty there and I'd love to start walking with her.

Heading down to the ferry in a couple minutes, to start off my grand adventure. It's overcast this morning but not raining, a typical PNW spring day. It is going to be rainy, even stormy, over the weekend, so I'll be working on indoors things

Our state covid numbers have been looking good, back down to what we had at the beginning, in early March... no deaths yesterday at all, so thankful for that. The Gov's press conference yesterday was kind of a mess, messaging wise, and messaging is so, so important. He won't commit to going to Phase 2 on June 1, but with the overall numbers as they are there's no way he'll be able to justify not doing it. I'm counting the hours until I can get that first haircut. I need to make myself a new mask with elastic around the ears, so I can wear it while she's cutting.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Happy Friday! It’s a beautiful day in south central PA, sunny and warm.
I need to mask up and go to the grocery store and will get something for the grill. Then get out on the rail trail for a walk.
Oneanne, your ferry trip sounds wonderful! There’s a ferry that runs not far from us to a charming town called Cape May. When things are back to normal (!) I want to finally ride it over and spend the day there.

I am surprised the salons have not opened yet for you. Your numbers are much lower then ours. We are still getting about 600 new cases a day. Our salons open up today and by the end of the month everything is opening. I know we need to for the economy but I feel this is not going to bode will well for us. They are even saying baseball can start back up because it is a non/low contact sport. How ever the kids all touch the same ball over and over. So many Germs.

Since yesterday, 66 people died of Covid19 and there are almost 700 new cases in Connecticut. Apparently that’s good enough to open the state on May 20th. It blows my mind.

Anyway, I had good meetings today and accomplished quite a bit. I’m taking a personal day on Monday. I have three to use that I was saving up for the end of the school year to take for my June vacation to WDW. I will be taking all of my personal days on Mondays so I can have longer weekends.

I finally cancelled all of my ADRs. The trip has been cancelled for weeks, and I never did my fastpasses in April. But I just couldn’t get myself to cancel my dining reservations. It just made the cancelled trip more real.

Everything right now is so surreal. People are dying. Others act as if nothing unusual is going on as they refuse to socially distance and wear masks. Is it denial? Can their brains not process the reality of it all. I don’t get it.

Our Gov is being very conservative, which I don't disagree with at all (just when his messaging isn't clear...). But with hair salons it does seem like hygiene is part of normal operations and it would be pretty easy to meet safety requirements. I can be a trooper and make it two more weeks, overall it has grown out OK, it's just the mullet in the back that is driving me bonkers, I hate the feeling of hair on my neck

I also think that about people not processing the reality of it all - and it also partly comes down I think to how they think towards others for social responsibility. I mean I could say that everyone has their own personal risk threshold that they are prepared to take for themselves and may be why some don't care about precautions - but in that mix is the result of their actions on others which is the biggest issue.

I think there are some similarities on general phased plans between our countries - but the difference of course is the size and density of our populations and the fact that despite some bigger concentrated outbreaks we have done astonishingly well in getting our numbers down relatively quickly. But we have had a reminder again how easy it can pop up. One of our regional areas hadn't had a case since 13 March - then yesterday they got a positive test - it was a nurse who had traveled to Brisbane (the capital city of our state) - to a hospital for an specialist appointment - so from an area that seemingly had none - she went to an area where there were hundreds of cases plus a hospital - she has now taken it back to the regional area AND she worked in a aged care home - so now it is in lock down and everyone in the region is being asked to get tested even with the mildest of symptoms. She must have had permission to travel that distance for a necessary reason (doctor) because only this weekend is travel opening up to 150km from our homes for leisure. Supposedly in my region we have only 1 active case at the moment - but I am still very uneasy. Yesterday after the walk on the beach we stopped to get takeout - fish and chips and while I was at the counter - the woman who approached behind me was way to close for my comfort - there were crosses on the floor - I think she was not on it - but also - I look at the spacing of some of these floor indicators and don;t think they have been measured correctly - or maybe I just want a bigger buffer zone! Masks are not expected to be worn by general public here - suggested if you are ill - with anything I think that is - as if we have coronavirus and we have to isolate - they do random checks and you get fined if you are not in the home. I just saw on TV that our most conservative state for re-opening - Victoria - opened up testing for any teachers before they return to more open schools in about a week. So far 1200 teachers have been tested - not sure if all their results are in yet though. I think that is a great idea.

Saturday morning for me already - the morning air is cool but it looks sunny and blue skies outside :) Hope your reward trip is wonderful @Oneanne. Okay time to get these kids cleaning the house, I want to finish staining my daybed this weekend. I have to do the meal plan for the week and shop - it will be a brief as possible but DD needs a new phone hers freezes so much and she is over it - so we will have a quick visit to the mall to do that and then I am OUT of there! the phone shop is positioned close to an entrance/exit - so I really don't have to go too far in. A walk will be squeezed in there somewhere :)

He was diagnosed with diverticulitis. But doctors don’t think it should be causing the amount of pain that he’s having. But they ran a bunch of tests at the ER after the CT scan and everything else looked normal. So they are treating the diverticulitis and he is to rest and use pain meds to manage the pain. But go back tomorrow if he’s not feeling any better.

I hoe your sister truly is feeling better!
