For the third year in a row, my husband and I are planning a trip to Disney World. We're calling it our redemption trip, because last year was an absolute disaster!
Our obsession started in 2012, with my husbands introduction to theme parks when we went to Disneyland. We had a blast! I hadn't been since I was 7, so experiencing it again as an adult was really magical. So in 2013 we decided to take a trip to Disney World over our anniversary. We drove down from Wisconsin and had such a great time that we decided for 2014 we were going to invite my mom, dad, and sister to join us (on us!), which is where things went horribly wrong.
I'm going to try and avoid disparaging my family here, but despite their excitement about an all-expenses paid trip to Disneyworld, they were real spoilsports in the end. The drive down was frustrating, our first day at the parks resulted in a separation of our group that wasted over 5 hours and had us miss our ADR for Be Our Guest. Ultimately, my husband and I are the only two who actually went on any rides (unless you count Captain EO a ride, then they went on one) and 3 people did not use their park hopper option... The cherry on top was that a week after we returned home, my bank notified me that my debit card information had been stolen and had someone had tried to use it in Georgia. Most likely ripped off at a gas station between home and Florida.
I hadn't been thinking about a vacation this year because we're planning to remodel our kitchen, but my husband started asking "Where are we vacationing this year?" and got me thinking about it. "Would we be crazy to go to Disneyworld again?" I asked him. "No, we need a Disneyworld redemption." What a good man.
So here we are, and next week I'll be booking our trip where we will return to POFQ May 24-30th and celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary.
Anyone else have any redemption stories?
