MAY 2015 Car Rentals

Just got my May trip down from $265 to $230 using the Costco code and $30 off for a mini van through Alamo. Really happy about this since my old reservation was using the Vroom Vroom code. Very happy to have the free additional driver!

Happy Hunting!

Not a huge jump, but went even a little lower this morning with same codes. Down to $222.

Well I'm down to $350 at Alamo w/ the Costco code for a 7 passenger minivan. And one for $380 for an 8 passenger. I don't know which one I'll keep in the end. Right now it's about $75 cheaper than Budget w/o the Costco code. So even with getting a Costco membership it would be cheaper.

Every time I check it drops about $10. Hopefully the price will continue to drop.

Got a minivan from Alamo for $290 (including taxes and fees) for 5/30 through 6/7, additional driver free, using Costco and Visa discount. I added the car rental to my overall trip insurance policy for $7 per day which covers pretty much everything for the car. We had been settling for a premium car for about the same amount, but for fewer days. The minivan price dropped this week.

Prices with Alamo through Costco or using the Costco code on Alamo's site continue to drop - also using the Visa Code. My 8-day minivan is now down to $236 - pretty awesome.

Just checked again this morning and reserved a minivan for $267 on the Alamo site using the Costco contract ID 7014627 and Visa coupon AD2338FDF codes.

Thanks for the heads up! Just got a mini-van for $360 for 11 days in early June using the same codes. It's only February and I'd be happy with this price if it were late April. I'll keep shopping down the price, but I'm OK with this price if it's the best I get before June.

Even lower! Down to $204 as of last night. Costco and $30 off code for 7 day 7 passenger mini-van through Alamo.

Same here, my 8-day minivan is down to $225. However, I did take a look at the other car types, and the compact was over $325 and larger vehicles even more. It's weird as it seems just the minivan prices are dropping and not the others.

FYI anyone flying into TPA, I just ran my dates on expedia and it's showing 9/day for every vehicle up to a full size and 12/day for suv at Budget

Upon checking today, the Visa code doesn't seem to work anymore. I don't know if anyone else has had that issue.

AD2338FDF ... visa code for ... ALAMO ... works for me.

Upon checking today, the Visa code doesn't seem to work anymore. I don't know if anyone else has had that issue.

Make sure you don't have any spaces at the end of the code, that makes it show up as invalid and messed me up once or twice.

Odd, Works fine now(I did check for spaces).

I guess I messed up somewhere on my phone(a few times). No issues while I'm on my PC at home.

Thanks folks!

I have a long rental, 17 days, and so far the best deal is Alamo, Costco code (AP code was the same price, but Costco provides free additional driver) Visa $30 off coupon $391.99 total midsize SUV. The bigger vehicles seem to be cheapest right now. Don't really need all that, but with gas being cheap, I'll take it. That works out to $23 a day including taxes & fees, pretty good, but I'll still hope for and check for cheaper.

Okay here it goes - I'm holding on to two different reservations. We are going back and forth between a car and an SUV. We can squish :crowded: into a car but an SUV would definitely make the trip more enjoyable (especially after a long day at the park). :cloud9:

Our first reservation is with E-Z Rent a Car...I'm not so sure about them as I have not rented from them before however I was able to book a Full Size car for 15 days at $331.60 including taxes. The trick I found was to click off the reservation page and the site will give you a coupon to stay on the page to finish the reservation.

The next one I have is for an SUV. I found a really good price with Alamo using the Costco code and the Visa $30 off code. For 15 days I landed our rental for $523.76 including taxes.

We can go either way at this point - but I will keep looking to see if I can get better rates.

Just checked this morning, my SUV rental with Alamo went down to $475.03!! Keeping my fingers crossed that it will keep going down.

Every time I check my rates are holding steady. :( I can't really complain bc $380 is so much better than $600. But I'm still hoping it'll drop some more.

I think I'm finally at a rate I can stick with. I'd started out looking at rates for a full-sized car using my company's leisure rental car plan through Avis, and the rate was close to $400 with taxes and fees added. Then I looked at the rates available to me with Costco, and I found a Minivan for $300 with Alamo. After reading the threads here, I added the Visa discount and got the minivan down to $275. I just checked today, and got an SUV for $240 for Saturday morning through the following Sunday evening. My husband thinks I'm nuts for checking on this so often, but the new rate is 60% of what I started with. Thank you everyone for all the great tips! I'm hoping I can stop stalking the cars now :)

So we booked a quick trip with cheap airfare for St Pete/Clearwater (pie). I have just started checking and Dollar suddenly dropped this morning and now is back up $36 dollars. I locked in 4 days at $150 with all fees for a fullsize and now its up to $186. Costco is $241!!! $150 isn't great but I guess thats what you get a smaller airport without a full week discount.

Adding: Just read reviews. Apparently Dollar is offsite at PIE and aren't reliable. Back to searching!

As of 8:00 a.m. eastern standard time....Dollar has dropped their prices for the first week of May for minivans and some smaller SUV's at MCO...I'm seeing about $21/day (plus taxes and fees). Check the "city special" tab after inputting your MCO pick-up, dates and time....do not select any type of car, wait until you get to the page that lists all of their cars, and then click the green "city specials" button.
