~* May 2014 *~ I'm going, are you?!

We're going May 10 - 15. It will be me, DS (2) first trip and my dad will be joining us and we're staying at PPH. The last time I was there I was 18 and it was right before I relocated from SoCal to Texas so I'm very excited to go.

I didn't realize POTC would be down while we're there. I'd assume Blue Bayou will be closed as well? I wanted to have an late lunch/early dinner there one day of our trip.

Kind of in the same boat as you. We're going May 27th - 30. Me, DW, DSs 6 & 2, DD 4. It will be my first trip since my grad nite about 19 years ago and I moved to AZ a few years later. It will be everyone else's first time EVER. Fortunately, we're getting there right after the rides should be coming off of refurb.

As to your question, I'm pretty sure BB will be closed if POTC is. It would kind of kill the ambience anyway to have maintenance/construction crews around while eating there :)

Ugh sad! 16 years for me and I think my dads last trip was when I was very young. Sad to know we won't be able to ride or eat there as I've never eaten at BB in fact for the longest time I wasn't aware you could even eat there I thought it was part of the ride lol

My son is 2 so I'll be enjoying all the kiddie rides multiple times over! Have fun on your trip! I'm counting down, we just past the 100 day mark down to 97!

I just joined his forum:)
We are going to Disney May 21 - 28! Our first trip...I'm sooooo excited! The kids are 9, 7 and 1. We're not telling them until we get to the airport!:yay:

I love seeing those surprise reactions on YouTube videos of parents telling their kids about DLR and WDW trips. We're just not that good at keeping our mouths shut! :)

Me and my DH will be there May 17th to the 22nd. We are staying at the Paradise Pier, first time staying on site:cool1:. We are celebrating our 10th
Anniversary  and DH's 60th birthday:woohoo:

Congratulations! I forgot to mention we will be celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary (24 years together! ) while we are there. This will be our second time celebrating in Disney. Last time we had a dinner at ESPN and watch the Canucks in the playoffs but I don't think that will happen this year :rotfl2:

I haven't decided yet what we will do for our anniversary, anyone have any suggestions?

These hurt... especially since POTC and Space will be open the day after we leave the Parks. I'm hoping for a bucket load of pixie dust and that they'll have soft openings before we leave. :wizard:
I'm looking on the bright side, our favourite rides of ST, Indy and CS should be open.

We will be going there May 11-17 from Summerland, BC. The refurbs are a bummer but what can we do. This will be the first trip with the kids and they will still enjoy it. Looking forward to it.

Maybe we'll be crossing paths :)

We are surprising DD9 too BUT there is no way we can fool her up until we arrive at the airport. We plan on waking her up for school like normal but instead of saying " Hannah, it's time to get up for school " we'll say " Hannah, it's time to wake up for Disneyland!!! ".

Because of all the closures we've decided to make our Universal Studios day a little bit more special and get the Front of the Line pass. This way we can go on all the big attractions twice hopefully especially Jurassic Park if it's warm - this might make up for the lack of GRR :woohoo:

King Arthur is now listed as 4/28 to 5/8 if that helps at all.

Space is now 5/12 to 6/26.

"Darth Vader Voice" NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Well, on the bright side you will (probably) have Big Thunder and Screamin'.

Tell me about it. During our 13 day stay in the parks, if these latest dates stay true, we will have one day to do Pirates and Indy.

:confused3

We're WDW vets but this our first trip west. Well, I was at DL once as a kid but it was so long ago (late 70s). First time for DH, adult DD (21) and DD's friend (20).

We are in California from May 16, through May 31, 2014. The plan was to arrive in Anaheim late on Sunday, May 18, do three days in the parks and leave on Thursday, May 22. But DH will be so disappointed about POTC that if it were to reopen on the 23rd we might have to rework our itinerary.

Overall, we're very excited to be going. I've been reading the Disneyland boards to learn what I can before we go.

my DD4 is just tall enough for space, just passed 41 inches. I'm not holding my breath on Big Thunder. Has there been any news on why all these refurbs are pushing into peak season? Related to Disney reallocating funds to WDW to deal with the My Magic + mess maybe?

I don't know, but they need to work on these now during the off-season. Having Indy and POTC down at the same time in the Spring is just :furious:

Glad Soarin is back for us, but sad about GRR. We plan our pool time around FP. It was one of the highlights of our last trip.

We'll be leaving SeaTac on 5/3 and coming back 5/9. In the parks for probably 4 or 5 days. The other days we're looking for things to do still...possibly 6 Flags on one of them.

Staying at the BWPPI (first time).

This was a gift to my wife for our 20 year. Told her I would take her wherever she wanted to go under XXXX budget and she picked here. So we're heading there and taking our 13 YO son. All of us terribly disappointed that POTC is down since its our fave and it was down when we were there in 2011. Oh well, still will be a blast!

Months drag by when you're looking forward to a vacation dont they?

I have thought about changing to the following week to try to squeeze in POTC but I think we are going to stick with these dates because of crowds.
We will be leaving SeaTac 5/13 and coming back 5/17 or 18.
We took my son for his 6th birthday in 2010 and now we are taking both kids and my daughter will be 6 and son 10.

We're going May 11th-15th! We were going to go the previous week, but more things will be open as far as refurbs go so I switched it.

So far, it will be me, my DH, and our two little girls. We've been to WDW many times...but we've never been to Disneyland...so I'm extremely excited!!

I'm still looking for the best Good Neighbor Hotel. The set up is so different from WDW!

We are going May 5-10, currently have reservations at the PPH on a extra 25% off on the cheap tickets site, but have free cancellation and am hoping to find an even better deal. We went in May 2009 on a buy 3 days, get 2 days free deal at resort hotels, but I haven't seen anything like that since (at least when I've been looking!). DH and I are taking our 2 youngest kids, DD(who will be almost 13 in May) and DD (11). The other two are grown--maybe someday they'll want to come along with us again.:)

We've never stayed at the PPH, so this will be a first for us. We've stayed at the GCH hotel before, but it just seems to be getting more outrageously expensive. Last year we went to a convention with a friend and were supposed to be at DLH for $169 a night, but they called and asked if there was anyway we could help them out and move to GCH for that same rate (due to so many people wanting to stay at DLH where the convention was held). Yeah, twist my arm! So after paying that rate at GCH, it is hard to rationalize it at ~ $400 a night.

My girls were bummed to hear about Pirates and Grizzly being down. We'll just enjoy whatever is up and running at the time, I guess! BTMRR would be a huge deal if it is up and running in May!

Hi Everyone!! Me and my DH will be headed to DLR 5/11-5/16 from the East Coast!

We took our kids to WDW in October for 9 days, and it was exhausting, so we're leaving them with nana and grandpa for the week, lol.

This will be our first time visiting DL (like a bunch of you guys, too, apparently), but we are WDW vets. It was hard to think about staying 'offsite' - we are booked at the Tropicana - but it seems like its still way closer than most WDW hotels.

Kind of sad to hear about some closures - particularly GRR and POTC - but will try to deal with them as positively as possible, and hope for some soft openings!

Looking forward to hearing from everyone about their plans over the next few months!

For those of us who were sad about the closure of BB along with POTC, maybe we have something to look forward to. So far, reservations are showing available online a couple days into the refurb. I figured this was an oversight until the Mother's Day menu at BB was mentioned on the DL blog yesterday. Dare we dream that BB will actually be open:eek:!

Which brings me to my next question. POTC has been closed every time I've been to DL since 1999, and my kids have never been able to ride it. If BB is actually open during the refurb, how much of the actual ride can you see from the restaurant? Is it enough to give my kids a sense of what the ride is like, or is it looking out into total darkness?
