May 2011: The kids are getting 3rd visit surprise! Now w/pics!

I am wondering if she is just afraid to talk about it to me? She hasn't "told" me that she is going with BIL etc. Maybe she thinks I'll be upset? This is her first trip and probably only so it's good she is going with them. I wish I could convert them to the planning dark side though. They don't plan parks or adr's or anything. I'm just afraid they will come back and talk about all they did was wait in line. I don't know why, but it makes me sad when someone doesn't like Disney, especially when I know that proper planning can really enlighten their experience! At least I have my family who willingly lets me plan for them!

I was just kidding with you about the suspense! Just hope all is well;forgive my nosy-ness!

Perhaps it just hasn't crossed her mind? I'm a very forgetful person, so sometimes I keep meaning to tell someone something and it just never happens. :lmao: And maybe she's afraid she'll hurt your feelings? :confused3 I'm sure there's a good reason.

Some people work best with a plan. We didn't have a plan our first year (we didn't know anyone who had ever visited WDW, and our TA was of no assistance). We still had an amazing time! So as long as they go and are realistic (there will be lines, some longer than others), they won't get everything done, but they can still have a great vacation!

Maybe they'll come around and poke at you for guidance. ;)

And yes, everything is all well! No matter what happens with the info I'm waiting on, it won't be anything negative. It can only be neutral or positive. :goodvibes Hopefully I'll know more soon. I hate waiting!!! :lmao:

Found your PTR... howdy, neighbor! I'm in TN, too! :wave2:

Going back to catch up on your plans...

Just wanted to pop in and let you know that I am catching up on your report :)

Welcome back! :rotfl: If you have any advice, please don't hesitate to toss it out there! :thumbsup2

Sing it with me... "It's a small world, after all!" :music:

**sings along** :music: It's a small world after all... It's a small world after all ....

I've only really been to Chattanooga once (well, stopped anyway) ... and that was to see a certain licensed train for DS. :rotfl: I'll definitely wave as we drive through this year to Six Flags and WDW!

Well I just had to pop over and read your thread! I read the first post, and your latest (cuz thats all I had time for right now!) and it looks like you guys are going to have an awesome, "SURPRISE" trip. And although you didn't mean it suspenseful, I am curious what is going on and when you'll spill the beans!

Yay, another PTR to read and keep me entertained as we countdown to our vacations! Is it May yet???? :surfweb:

:welcome:

If I pretend its May, will it make it true? :rotfl2: I don't know how entertained you'd be here ... but make yourself comfy and offer up any words of wisdom that you deem fit. :thumbsup2

I truly do hope to spill the beans soon. All I do is sit by the phone. Check the phone to make sure its on. Check to make sure the battery isn't low. Sit some more. And when it rings, I jump, even though its not the call I'm expecting, so its a letdown.

However, not to threadjack my own PTR ... but I did receive good news un-related to anything Disney (or ever mentioned in my post). My sister called (while it wasn't the call I was hoping for, it made for a great call) and she found out today she's having a BOY! I'll have my first nephew! I have two neices. The crazy part is .... I have 3 sisters (that's not crazy), but 2 of my 3 sisters are expecting their 2nd kids on the same day!!! They're both due early Sept (I think the 5th). My baby sister will have her ultrasound later this month. All I need now is for sister #2 to start popping out some kids. It would be great if my baby sister was having a boy as well ... then that would make all 3 of us having girls first, then a boy.

:cheer2::banana::banana::banana:
So yay for good news! Hopefully the call I'm waiting on will happen tomorrow. My fingers are crossed!!!!

Congratulations on the "nephew" news...it's nice to have a boy thrown in the mix. :goodvibes

Yay for a nephew!

On my mom's side there are 9 cousins (so far), only one of them being a boy!

Since I won't know anything soon, I figured I'll go ahead and spill the beans. I'm tossing all my cards on the table ... here goes!

We booked our trip 2/7 (and originally paid in full - but made upgrades and had to repay in full). A couple of weeks ago, my former boss called me. He said there was an opening at the company I used to work for that was right up my alley. After I heard him out and he told me what the pay range was ... I updated my resume and submitted it once the job was officially posted. :goodvibes

The VP of Sales for the company was the one looking to hire for his team (it was administrative work, not sales). I worked with the VP/S in my last position (I was in Finance) and knew him well. Even though I knew I wasn't exactly qualified, I was certain he'd give me an interview because he was on the front line of people fighting to get me to stay when I turned in my notice. (I left to raise DS.)

I had almost forgotten about the job when I got a call from the HR manager who said that the VP/S was only doing interviews one day (it was for last Friday). He said they need someone to fill the spot NOW. I scheduled my time and prayed I could find a sitter. (Mom was free. :worship:)

The interview went well, I thought. I saw a lot of familiar faces and several commented that they were rooting for me to get the position. In the interview, the VP/S even stated that the RSM and all the DSMs (Regional and District Sales Managers) had all confronted him and stated that they looked forward to working with me again (as I worked with all of the Sales dept in my last position):cloud9:. I was honest in my interview and even told him that some areas of the job were out of my comfort zone, but I had the skill to perform those tasks (public speaking :scared1:) and would be excited to develop that skill further, which would make me a better person.

Anyway, as he was walking me out, he commented that he wanted to bring me back for a 2nd interview with the Division President. With it being such an important job within the company, he wanted to make sure the DP was comfortable with his hiring decision as well. I told him that I looked forward to seeing the DP again (the DP begged me to reconsider my notice as well and told me that when I wanted to come back, the door would always be open for me).

So yes, everything looks great for me in regards to this job. I was hoping to have had the 2nd interview this week and hopefully hear something next week on if I was selected or not ... however, I have yet to be called. (I'm thinking I'll get my call to schedule 2nd interview on Monday-ish.)

Here's where it gets a bit ... interesting.

IF I get this job ... this could mean changes to our trip. Nothing negative, as I've stated before. :thumbsup2

If they offer me the job, after I accept and make it official, I'll mention the trip. If the VP/S is not able to allow time off (unpaid), then I'll reschedule for Fall Break (early October). If the VP/S is cool with the time off - then nothing changes.

If we have to reschedule, then we're looking at no guaranteed discount. Yes, its possible that I'll get a GP discount - or even another PIN. But as of now, there's nothing announced for October, so everything would be rack rate. :guilty:

So I've been stressing over not knowing when I'll actually be going to WDW (not to mention trying to get this job). And who wants to pay rack rates for WDW? :confused3

The worst part right now .... my washing machine broke this week. :headache: DH mentioned cancelling the trip if I don't get the job to pay for the washing machine. :scared1: I made a deal with him, so even if I don't get the job, May is still a GO. :woohoo: My new washing machine will be delivered Tuesday. (It's not what I wanted, but it lets me keep the WDW trip if I don't get the job.)

So things have been pretty stressful here. Lots of sitting by the phone. Lots of uncertainty. I already have spreadsheets for May and October ready ... but its killing me not knowing WHEN I'll be going.

And at the rate things are going with this job (and I know they can't make an offer without going through corporate - which is VERY slow to respond :sad2: ), now I'm worried that I won't be able to accept the job because we'll be so close to our trip that I won't be able to reschedule. So things are stressful, but its all for the good!!

(I had originally decided to seek employment once DS started Kindergarten in August - but this was too much money to pass up if I got the job.)

So .... keep your fingers crossed with me! :grouphug:

And hopefully we'll know something soon and I can feel like my trip is officially finanlized. :rotfl: I can't steal... err... borrow people's ideas for planning journals until I know for sure when I go! (I thought having a planning journal would be GREAT for the kids once they figure out where we were. It would give them a chance to understand what we'll be doing since they weren't part of the planning process.)

How exciting!! As long as you get to go to WDW sometime this year, it's worth all the stress now. Though if you're getting good money for the new position, the rack rates won't hurt as much in comparison I would think. They still stink but yay for more money to worth with? Anyway, I'm sending good vibes! :goodvibes
