May 2008 code watch

Relax All.... :coffee:

For my Oct 07 vacation, the Fla res & AP codes came out mid-August.
So...I would imagine we are looking @ 2 mos. out.. for these codes.
:bored: :bored: :bored: :bored:

Come on May, come on May . . . ::surfweb:
We're going May 11-17th and would love a good AP rate (have already given up hope of receiving a 30-40% off postcard for our dates or there being a general public code offered).
Good luck fellow May WDW travelers, it really is a nice time to go.:wizard:

We'll be there the same you are and are hoping for either an AP rate or FL resident rate.

Using AAA right now , but still waiting for an AP code

Did the same thing for last May. AP rate came out wednesday, 2/21 last year. I'd be looking for them on wednesday 2/20 this year if I were you. Came out at 7am. AP rate was $51 per night less than AAA rate for CR last year.

I went through last years May 2007 Code Watch thread and pulled out the posts that gave information on prices received and what was available. It will most likely be very similar as to what resorts / views are available and which are not. Hope some find this info helpful.

These were the rates last year ( released on Feb 21st ):

They are for check-ins April 15 - June 2
Value Resorts for $74+
Moderate Resorts from $129
$101 off Deluxe Resorts per night

Beach Club Standard or Boardwalk Villa Studio for $258 per night (which is $101 off per night). Yacht Club was not available

Just got AKL Deluxe Savannah for 5/21-5/24 at $330 per night. Regular Savannah not available at AP rate for those dates.

I was hoping for Polynesian, I was also told that NOTHING was available there

For moderate rooms, AAA room rate w/ tax is $157, AP room rate w/ tax is $145. Factor in the cost of an AP, and I come out $43 ahead going with AAA (9 nights).

I got Contemporary (which shocked me considering there are very few garden wing rooms available) for $823.50 including tax for 3 nights. Then I got Beach club standard for $1161 including tax for 4 nights. Worked out great for me. I'm saving considerably over my AAA discount and was able to upgrade to Beach Club instead of POR.

AKL, pool view, $201.37 per night total, May 17-20

Just got AKL booked for May 4-7, standard at $164/night.

I just called and got BC water/pool view for 6 nights for $2288.28. YAY! After taxes this seems to be the $101/night discount. They didn't have any concierge rooms available for the AP discount, but had both standard and water views available for my dates (4/29-5/5).

Here's what I have for 4 nights CSR May 5-9
AP rate
King room $670.72 (*149 per night)
Double room $580.48(*129 per night)
Tickets (from DIS) $1738.71
Total $2989.91 (room/tickets)

Pkg Rate
King room $1589.82
Double Room $1878.45
(-meals) -779.80
Total $2688.46

So it is $301.45 cheaper to do the pkg. That makes my meal plan only $478.35 for 5 people/4 days.

Standard POP, Preferred not available : We will be there May 12-20. $74 per night.

I was originally booked at BWI at AAA for 323.00/standard. THey only had Innkeepers Club availabe so I switched to BC at 253.00/standard.

Rack rate for PoR - 165
Got AAA discount - 157
Got AP rate - 129

1 night standard BW for $290.25

We had a POP century reservation from april 24 to may 2 for a total of 898.52. Of course no AP discount for out time period and did not want to switch to ALL-Star.
I was quoted $1168.98 for coronado Springs for the same time with AP and I was quoted $1476.00 for Animal Kingdom with AP so I splurged and with Animal Kingdom.
it is $164.00 per night base plus tax.

Just got Wilderness Lodge Courtyard for $219.00 a night. That is $71.00 cheaper than our original woods view!! We have 3 adults and 1 infant in our room and our original room only total for woods view was 2126.28.(we are staying 6 nights) Now the total for courtyard with AP is 1647.00

POR Riverside for $129.00 a night

I called a little after 8 o'clock this morning and was able to get POP 5/5 - 5/11 for $74 (83.25 w/tax) per night.

I took ASSports at the $74 plus tax per night

I got AKL - Pool View - May 7-11 for $201.00 @ nite. I really wanted standard view, but was told they weren't available.

I got the Beach Club for $329/night, waterview, 5/12-5/17. I really wanted POFQ, but nothing available.

I was able to book two standard rooms at CSR today round noon. (5/10 -$129).

the $201 for AKL Pool View included tax.

I just booked 3 night AKL Standard room, 184.50 per night that includes tax title and tag.

I just tried again to get an AP rate for the Poly, but still none are available. GF and WL AP rates are still available

For those who did not get their first choice in AP rate rooms, don't hesitate to try again. This morning, for my dates, I could only get AKL Deluxe Savannah. When I called back to check something else I asked if any Standard Savannah rooms were available and sure enough, I now have my favorite room at the AP rate.

The CM said they were in the midst of the "AP shuffle" so room types are appearing and disappearing as AP holders modify various reservations.

I'd like the addition of free hopper and free waterpark plus upgrade. Hoping for that one, I haven't booked yet for early May.

It would probably be a "package" upgrade, huh? I can't imagine they would add it the upgrade to "ticket only" purchases.

I will try to wait till March sometime for something to come out. Then, if nothing does, will probably just do "room only" and do the tickets as base with no hopper/waterpark.

I agree! :thumbsup2 I feel Wednesday 2/20/08 is the most likely date for a May code - IF we see one.

For the past 2 years, the summer codes have been released on a Wednesday - and last year (for sure) the May code was released on a Wednesday ......... guess Disney really likes Hump Day, huh? :rotfl:

Now - let's all wait & see if our predictions come true ..... we only have 2 weeks from today to find out! :goodvibes

I know that I got my AP rate for January on 10/31 which was a Wednesday!:thumbsup2

Subscribed. Looking to book 7 nights either 5/11 or 5/18. I'm on official code watch. ;)

I just want to make sure I have this right before the "big day"-

-We are buying 10 day base tickets
-An adult ticket is approx $240.00
-An Annual Pass is approx $477- a difference of approx $238
-So to make it worth while to get an annual pass if there was an annual pass code we would have to save more than $238
-We are staying six nights at POP
-We are paying $109 per night
-In order to make up the difference we would have to save approx $39 per night times 6 which would would put us near difference of regular ticket and AP- this would have to put POP at approx $69 per ticket-

Am I understanding this right? If I am I would think it is unlikely that buying an AP would be worth it but maybe I'm wrong- you guys are the pros;)

I am on pins and needles waiting to see if there's a code for 5/1-5/6! I did get a 30% offer but not for those dates. The same email contained a $99 offer for the value resorts during my dates but I'm looking for discounts at POR and AKL! :rolleyes1

I agree with your calculations and conclusion. With only 1 trip planned, unless you are staying at a deluxe or a less expensive place for more nights (think I once saw a break-even calc. and it was about a 10-day stay), an AP often does not pay off. There are other benefits, like being able to purchase the dining card and getting a discount at certain places and a few other things, but we've only taken advantage of the room discount when we bought an AP in the past for our Poly. stay. We're booked Poly. again and the AP rate, if it is available and similar to past years, will be better than my buying a MYW ticket and keeping our AAA rate.:wizard:

I booked yesterday for May3-8th. If a code does in fact come out can I add it to my already exsisting reservation? I hope so!

Ready for those codes to come out!!

Ok Crazy Question 101:
Do AP rates apply to Fri, Sat, Sun Still? I believe I read Ap rates are not good on weekends anymore.

? To my fellow May travelers:
Have you booked airfare yet?
I'm booking tonight:cool1: are most people waiting for discounts/codes to come out? We leave April 30th which is only about 2 1/2 mths away and airfare by us is at a good price around 230$ with taxes round trip. I hope some discounts do come out because DH wants to stay off property and I don't. Either way will be there april 30th through May 11th

I booked my flights before I booked the room :rotfl: Airtran had a sale & I could not resist!

Couple of things:

1. You're right with the numbers you're using

2. Just curious, why 10 day tix if only staying 6 nights? Also, not hopping?

3. If you were hopping the difference would be $200.

4. Last year, values went down to $74. That's $35 less than your rate of 109. 35 times 6 = $210. So if you were comparing it to a hopper, you'd already be better off.

In comparing it to the base tickets, you're still up 28 bucks. But the AP also gives you other discounts. You should check those out - there may be a discount on something you might already have planned.

AND, having the AP allows you to buy the DDE card for $60. The card gives you 20% off on food and drinks, including alcohol, at a ton of restaurants. If you're going for 10 days, you're going to be spending money on food a WDW - it doesn't take long to make your money back (spend 300 bucks on food - 20% of that is 60 bucks).

And, even if it's a tie, go with the AP. I bought one last May and unexpectedly, I'm going back for a 2nd time within a 12 month period. So this trip, I'm spending $0 on my ticket instead of another $220 for a new pass. You never know when a trip will spring up.
