May 2006 - need to book now? Plus other questions

We are tentatively planning to visit FW in early May next year. If we can get our act together we will be towing a new-to-us pop up from NJ. family is me, DH, DS 5 & DD 2. We don't have a pet & don't care about TV. but we won't be renting a cart (unless I get a great job in the next few weeks). I hope you can help with some of my questions

-we have AAA. should I wait until 2006 AAA rates come out (august?) or book now?
-Is it worth getting a preferred loop for the location? Are other people's pets annoying? It seems like most of the preferred loops are pet loops as well. I'm confused about what loop(s) to request!
-Can you put up a tent on your site? Is there an extra charge for a third adult? It would probably only be 1-2 nights.

Hi. I don't think you would need to book it yet. I usually book about 6 mos. ahead of time and have never had a problem. Now if you were going over Thanksgiving or another popular holiday you would want to book further ahead. We take our dog Suzie so we get a preferred pet loop. (We didn't have any problems with any other dogs, etc...) We stayed in Loop 300 last year and hope to stay in the same loop again this year. We liked being so close to the marina, beach, etc...since we were able to walk. If you want to be closer to the pool, campfire, etc... you would want to be in loops 1300, 1400 or 1500. I'm not sure about your question about the tent. Hope that helps some.

I guess it would be more convenient to be close to the marina. We can take busses to the pool if it's too far for the kids to walk.

This is so different from planning a hotel stay! We are going to have to buy a new car to stay at FW. Never had to do that for a hotel, LOL!

Book reservations now you only need to put deposit of 1 night . You can always apply AAA rates when they come out. I know if you tried you book for Jan of Feb of 06 you would not get reservations. I think they will take reservations 500 days out

Book your site now - you only have to put down a 1 night deposit and you have up until 5 days before arrival to cancel with full refund. 1+ years out is not too much to make a reservation.

There is an 85% chance that we will be going the last week of March/first week of April (2 weeks) 2006 and I've already booked my basic site with a request for the 1500 loop. This is a loop that pop-ups and/or tenters use and is right across from the Meadowlands Recreation area ... it has water/electric, but no sewer/cable. 1+ years out is not too much to make a reservation.

I also hope to get a AAA discount, but they will not be out until July/Aug or later this year. At that time, I'll just call and have the rate applied to my reservation (if there are any left as they are limited ... this year, I could only get the discount for 10 out of 14 nights). There is a $2 per night charge for extra adults.
