Hi Guys and Gals! I have been away for quite awhile. In fact, so long, many of you have probably never heard from me. Anyway, family of 3 (DW, DS-14, and myself) are planning a trip home to VWL during the first week in May 2005. Have never been there during that week. Anything we should know about? Crowd size, special events (other than the the Epcot flower show - we are all, actually, excited to see this - nobody does gardenning like Disney does.)

We are interested in any and all comments.

Thanks in advance. :earsboy: :earsgirl: ::MickeyMo

rfassett, we go every year now to the F&GF in May and the F&WF in Oct. We will be at BWV 1st week of may 05.

Don't forget to go to the flower power concerts in epcot, a must see IMHO

Great time of year to go! Flowers are just beautiful and the weather is very nice. The parade in MK was only on weekends this last May. The new fireworks at MK are most nights. The fireworks at Epcot are every night as always. The parks may or may not close early. One year we went they did but this last May they didn't. AK always closes early. I believe the show at MGM is only one time each night instead of 2. You will just have to wait until the times for next year come out to know for sure. They will be here on this site so that will help you. One thing that was great this May was they kept Epcot open an extra 3 hours one night for those staying at the Disney resorts. It didn't cost us any thing extra. We just got a wrist band when we went in early evening. I think they were trying out the plan and I hope it will stay that way. As was started before the concerts are great. They are always oldie music but I am an oldie gal so it was great! I know you will have a great trip and welcome back to the boards.

IIRC, May 5th is the 50th anniversary of Disneyland. It's conceivable that WDW will have some sort of special event of its own--although certainly nothing to overshadow the festivities out west.

MK is supposed to be getting a new stage show in time for the anniversary celebration, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if either the MGM Stunt Show or Epcot's "Soarin" clone were scheduled to open around that time.

Great time to go. We usually go on our wedding anniversary, which is May 2.

Crowds are fairly manageable, weather is hot enough to swim but not usually too hot and humid yet. If the Extra Magic Hour continues, you might have that available for you. When we do the parks, we still do them "commando" and we've never felt like they close too early. We were there 8 days, and SpectroMagic was on two different nights. We made sure we tried for the first one in case it rained or something and we would still have the second one if needed. We took advantage of early opening. Sometimes there is a little more painting and maintenance going on while they get ready for the busy summer months.
