May 2, 2014 - A WONDERous trip through the Locks WBPC

Hello from another new group member - I booked just today. It's just me this cruise since my brother still thinks my twin nephews are too young to do Disney. I recently re-registered so I could change my username, so may show up as a newbie, but this will be my 5th Disney cruise. Very excited to become "gold" once we dock in San Diego.

I want to do it all - FE (already signed up via the link), candy exchange (will PM), Secret Mickey (still need to sign up for it). I am another pin trader, but tend to just collect a couple of new sets each trip (plus try to finish up past collections).

Thanks for all the posts - Disney cruises are the BEST and I'm really looking forward to meeting everybody! :)

Patricia (Aunt P)

Welcome on board.

DSis gave me a pin case for my birthday, and I hope to organize it and bring it along on the cruise.:goodvibes. I think I, or someone else, could pick a sea day, and a lounge, and see if there is interest to meet and trade or admire each other's collections!:goodvibes. We did that on the EBTA last year. Does anyone know the name of a smaller sized lounge area on the Wonder that is likely to be free around 10-11 AM?

Bobbi:goodvibes

I would be up for this. From past experience in the morning, the Outlook Cafe is a fairly safe bet, but the drawback with that is that is adults only.

I would love to do some trading but having 1000's of pins it would one, take up to much space to bring the ones I would like to maybe trade and two, pins weigh a lot and I need weight in my bags for clothes. I will probably bring a few from Disneyland and WDW that people might be interested but none in my books or anything. Oh yes I know I would not bring 1000's but just one of my books weighs in the average 5-7 pounds. Sent from my iPhone 5 using DISBoards

I thought about weight, but I will bring what I can. One person had paper copies of her pins! I was amazed at her collection.

Yes, I think children should be included n the "meet."

I will see if I have notes from last year, maybe I have the location noted. It was a lounge in the rear. I think there was a liquor store outside the door.

I think you mean Diversions up front. As long as we do it in day time kids could come.pirate:

Yes! It was near Rockin Bar D! So, it was the front of the ship!:). We could exchange pins there if we do it in morning or early afternoon. Which would be preferable, AM or PM? Let's try for 2 sea days, in case of conflicts.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

We (CaptJackFan & I + our 2 boys) would LOVE  to do a group pin trade!

:scratchin I think we might just need a WHOLE SEPARATE SUITCASE for 4 cases of pins ... :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Wow!

Well, there seems to be interest, and it am guessing Diversions would be a good location. I know they had liquor tastings in it, I will check Navigators, but I think they would most likely been in afternoons. So, maybe late morning would be best for pin trading!:).

Talked to a DCL Cast Member I know, and she doesn't think there will be a VGT on this cruise.pirate:

We were hoping that the VGT or the Florida Resident rates for balconies would be out by now so we can join you on this great cruise. Does the DCL CM you know think there may not be balcony Florida Resident rates either?

This is our first Disney Cruise. Can you please explain Fish Extenders to me?
Thanks,

Welcome! You wont need to know your room number to do FE, just put TBD. A lot of us are in the same boat. They are doing groups of 20, the first group is already filled, and the second group i think has 14 or so particpants, if you sign up later she will start you in a new group and if there isnt a ton of people in that one she will add you to one of the other groups :) Hope that helps!

Hi,

Could you please explain Fish Extenders to me? Thanks,

Hi there! I am the one running the FE. Brixton never gave me her list, so if you signed up with her, and haven't filled out the Google Docs form, you will need to re-submit, as I have zero information from her list.

The FE is being broken up into groups of 20 staterooms. If you want to participate in multiple groups, just fill out the form again after I close each group. Currently, as of 1/29/14, Group #1 is closed, and Group #2 has 10 staterooms (with 3 rooms duplicate from group #1). Once the group closes, I will send an email with the list out to all participants, and start the next group. This should give everyone time to sign up for multiple groups if they desire.

:) :)

OK, that link should help you out. A fish extender is something that hangs from the fish or whatever sort of hook is outside your cabin door.
You sign up with your "meet" and learn how many people are in your group.
Each group makes it's own "rules" as far as "do I give something to each person in the cabin?" " the cost of the gift?" "how many times do I give a gift?"

Good luck! I have not participated in the FE exchange, I use a Fish Extender for the Candy Exchange!

They offered a great CM rate for this cruise, $50 pp/per day for an OV room. I wonder how many CMs took advantage of this. It would definitely effect any future offers for this cruise such as FL rates.

Go check out Costco Travel. For some reason, a little voice in my head said "Hey - why don't you go see if the price of rental cars has gone down any since you booked yours." So I went to Costco Travel web site, and I now have a full size car from Alamo, picking up at FLL on 5/1 and returning to MIA on 5/2 for a grand total of $28.69. I could have had a full size SUV for $13 more. Crazy!!

Wow, those are fantastic rates for CMs. There seems to be a lot of inside and ocean view cabins left and even some of the higher veranda categories, so I'm still hoping for some good Florida resident rates. If they do arrive, I hope it's in time to get some reasonably priced flights back from San Diego. I've been checking for Florida rates every day since the middle of January, when they were released last year!

As far as Pin Interest, the days at sea are :

3
5
6 ..possible?
8...cruising the canal
9
10
11
12 possible?
15

Suppose I pick 2 of the days, mornings, say 10 AM, in Diversions. That's the lounge, forward that I think may be opened for something like this. Suppose we try for days 6, 12. If there is a "sign up for interest" not really necessary, but just to see if there is interest, I can put a reminders in the "fish."

If there are other ideas about setting this up...I am listening!

Awesome deal, wish we could take advantage of it!
We would have loved to fly to FLL via southwest, but the flights weren't that good.

Speaking of flying, I have a question. We never fly, so I am 'uninformed'!

We are flying on American Airlines. They said that the first bag is $25 and the second bag is $35.
If we both check 1 bag, it's $50 extra right? I know, silly question but I have to ask.:coffee:

You each get a $25 bag.

Our rental car prices are truly out of line on this trip, because we start the week after Easter, and also because we are doing different things, like continuing our area retirement search! We have split the week + into 3 segments, to keep costs down, but no part is as good as jcmh has!
