May 2, 2014 - A WONDERous trip through the Locks WBPC

I am travelling with two boys one that will be 5 and the other 7 so we will be going thru the whole taking kids out of school aswell. For us it will be 21 days since we are doing the 5 day before the PC. I did a transatlantic a few years back and took my nephew, my sister withdrew him for school and then re enrolled him when we got back because it was to many absences.

Oooohhhh...jealous of your B2B, you'll have so much fun:cool1: Thrilled more kids are joining us:cool1:

We did one of the Pixar cruises, too! A great time!

We are also on the EBTA in a few weeks, and will also be taking the boys out of school again for this cruise. They go to a private school so taking time off is less of an issue for us (I just tell them we're going haha). I personally think experiencing different cultures, art, architecture, etc are much more beneficial than anything learned in the classroom. But perhaps that is just the travel bug in me!

We just did a b2b in january and the kids didnt want to leave the club or lab. They would call it school so all they would say is we want to go to school, please take us to school. To funny, I've never heard kids say that before.

We haven't booked it yet, but it's looking more and more like we will. We spent last night going over what we'll do in San Diego. How about some information about Joshua Tree NP!? Anyone? We think we will be staying 2 nights in Twentynine Palms. I cannot walk on trails, but do the HA boardwalk type trails. We would do the car route. Would 1 night be enough?

Hello bobbiwoz:cool1: Hopefully you will join us on the cruise my "Fiesta-Siesta Transition" hehe. Just saying it could be fun, as if any day with ought some pixie dust is a day with ought sunshine. :dance3: Have a great day and I wish I could answer you questions but, we are first timers to San Diego ourselves and will try to stay at Coronado Beach for a couple of days after the cruise. I am limited in my activity also but will enjoy the ambiance of the city. Carry On

Could not have said it any differently! I hope you get some answers Bobbi.

I just noticed that they have us signed up for early dining. We usually do late on DCL for 2 reasons.
One is because we figure we will free up 2 spaces for early dining for people with kiddos and the other is because of all the kiddos in the dining room. But on Celebrity we always did early. Thoughts?

We always do early dining because we don't want to eat & then go to sleep. We like seeing the shows after the meal.

I am a definite Late Dining fan, out-voted by kids on the 2013 WBPC, hoping to return to it in 2014! I love the early show & late dinner; I love the fewer amount of kiddos; I love dine & play for my own kids; I love late breakfast on disembarkation day!

There are at least four Southern Californians in this group so far...I think? I can answer SD beach area ?s, as I live in a beach community 20 minutes from port. I haven't been to JT or 29 Palms since college, but I'm sure someone else has:)

We are early and with no kids. We like early because for us we normally eat around 6 to begin with. I know more kids are around but if they are acting up and running around I don't blame them I blame the parents and that can happen at either early or late. Also when they do special buffets like on pirate night or the late night snacks I can indulge a little as if I had a 8:15 meal time I would be to full. Also the 5:45 meal time helps me not to over do it during the day. Oh and when I say I blame the parents, what I mean is that parents that are not courteous enough to take their screaming kid out of the dinning room or the parents that do not tell their kids it's not ok to run around the dinning room.

Hi All:cool1: My DW and I always do the late dining as we feel we are not rushed through the sitting as we were the time we did the early sitting. We can take our time and enjoy the ambiance and the companionship of the company. We have been some of the last to leave the dining area after having a great time with our servers. To us it is not about the kids or anything else except the experience of doing other evening activities if we wish after dinner. The piano bar area is most enjoyable at this time of night. IMHO which ever choice you make is the right choice. Little cryptic don't you think? Enjoy to all and carry on.:dance3:

Thanks all. I think I'll stick to the early dining. We will take a chance with all the kiddos!

To loosely paraphrase aan1701...the kiddos are only as annoying as their complacent parents who allow poor behaviour:headache: We reserved early dining & recruited two friends for this cruise...who will also probably prefer early dining. I'll be outvoted again :(

I'm kind of hoping this cruise won't be too full of kiddos.

Does Disney try to seat adults only with like? Back in 2008, our last DCL cruise, that is how we were seated.

I have been looking for recent navigators and finally found the ones from the EBPC 12/12 here: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/201...bound-panama-canal-cruise-december-9-22-2012/

I assume that the WBPC will be similar (in reverse order). Not to hijack the thread back to kids and schooling but I see there are 5 Panama Canal presentations plus a Q&A... social studies built right in!

And we will do 2nd seating for dinner, not because I am avoiding kids - bringing 3 of my own :rotfl: I promise they behave at dinner and otherwise. Second seating works way better for us when in other time zones so by the time we get back to PST we are just eating a little late.

Hi Crundell:cool1: Just wanted to thank you for the site of Navigator's:worship: I also agree about the 2nd seating as it is not about getting away from the kids but that we like the 1830 shows (if we go to them). Just wanted to also thank everyone else point of view on this, as conversation will provide the best solution.Hope everyon on the DIS has a great day and as always - Carry On.:firefight

Yes, Crundell, thank you for the Navigators. This will be fun looking at them!

Oh my. That is a lot of FE's! Good luck and thank you in advance for the upcoming PC Navigators.

I just noticed on the last year PC Navigators one day they showed Casablanca in the theater. Is that the original?
Do they do that often, show old classic movies? What a kick that would be to see it on the big screen.
