May 2, 2009~~~Magical MAYniacs!~~~ 7 day Western....Updated, April 3,2009!!

I called DCL and asked for the hours in Nassau are set for 8AM and all aboard 7PM. Suppose to arrive in port at 6:30AM and leave at 7:30PM. For shore excursions they reminded me to go to deck 3. I hope this helps some.
THANK YOU TOO DAVE!!!!!!!!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
My family may do a one day pass at one of the all inclusive hotel beaches. It is a great price and some include lunch. If you just want to enjoy their beach it was around $15 - $20 per adult and it also included free use of pool, chairs, towels, water toys etc. Some have organize games for kids. There are several near Atlantis and you could go over in the evening to the Atantis hotel and enjoy their aquarium for free after 5 pm.
My family leaves tomorrow!!!!!!! :woohoo: I will be wearing my green bracelet and look forward to meeting you all.:dance3:

Zerog, my4bratz, mjlewis- Thank you for the information! I thought that was what everyone was meaning, but I really appreciate the clarification.:goodvibes

It sounds as if the Atlantis resort is a popular way to go. Does anyone have any other suggestions that we can ponder for the 18 and up ages?

FLUFFYCAT-Safe travels to you and your family....looking forward to meeting you on Saturday!!:grouphug:

AdventureLover67.. I was reading through a different forum and someone mentioned that the Segway tour was great for adults. I read through it and was excited, but then again I am kinda a geek... My wife read through it and said "that sounds like the most boring thing" So, we won't be doig that one LOL

It will be interesting to see what activities/shore excursions we'll be offered. I've never even thought about a Segway, but mainly because for me, well, let's just say I don't need to visit a Bahamian hospital!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Hopefully you and your wife will find something equally exciting to do!:wizard:

Both calls I made to DCL yesterday said all the normal excursions offered through DCL will be available. During the first call the CM called the CM in charge of excursions. The times I was given is slightly early than some other posters has posted. I said 8 AM and they say 8:30 AM. We are leaning to staying on the ship mostly. I may wonder off and look around a bit. We can not do anything until Sat at the earliest. I hope everyone is doing fine and travel safe. We fly down Sat morning.

We are not thrilled to be stopping at Nassau, but will make sure we have fun and good times no matter what we do or where we go:thumbsup2. We were thinking of maybe doing the Segway tour. Doug and I have done the Segway tours at WDW at least 4 times and love it. Haven't made any decisions yet. Safe trip to all that are travelling. Hope to see you all on Saturday. :grouphug:

We are encouraging ALL of you to take advantage of Nassau by going ashore....:rolleyes1

The more the merrier........

WE plan on taking advantage of the somewhat "empty" boat.....

Do you know what other ships will be in NASSAU on Thursday? :confused3

Alright...time to get going....I can't believe I am bringing 3 large suitcases! This is ridiculous! My family of 3 can usually get by for a week on a large suitcase, a medium and a carry-on. Darn formal dress....lol.

See you all on Saturday!!!!

Safe travels to you Michelle! Over the course of the last few months, you saved us several hundred dollars by pointing out the price drops. I really appreciate that!

I made a thread for this on the main page, but could really use all the feedback I can get. So sorry for repeating myself.

OK, we always go the first 2 weeks in May and my asthma problem due to pollen is always an issue. I clear my voice every 5 minutes. I'm always trying to not do it in the terminal especially. But this and tomorrow is going to be a whole different ball game. I have my meds and inhaler but have 2 concerns.

First is obviously getting to board the ship without issue.

Second is having people look at me like I''m a walking, talking, ticket to their death.

I know the rules of the game are going to be new right now. But does anyone have this problem to deal with besides me?

Also, are the rest of you going to be able to handle it?

It's been a real bad couple of months for us and I don't think I can take fighting with crew to board, or fellow passengers thinking it's more then it is. It's medically impossible for me to be I'll since I have not been out of the house in well over a month. Nor has DH. (Laid off, Possible Foreclosure, etc) So we really couldn't have anything. This trip is to jump start our hope and come back to fight one more time. I know I will cry or wind up needing bail if they give me any trouble.

Am I alone? Anyone have the allergies, pollen, asthma problem issues and concerns? Think we should not even try and just give up now? I don't think I can take anymore disappointment right now. Thoughts?

I totally understand your concerns! I have allergies (no asthma) and sinus problems. I tend to get sinus infections :headache: when I am stressed (travel, little sleep) and have worried that if I am not feeling 100% that they won't let me on the boat!

I am staying with friends with kids here in Orlando, and was worried that they wouldn't want me to stay with them when I got here! So far they haven't kicked me out or kept me away from the kids even with the coughing and clearing my allergy throat!

I flew to Orlando on Wednesday. I did ok, but I have to admit that I got warry of the guy caughing up a storm at the luggage check! I know that I would have felt a lot better about that guy if he had been caughing into his elbow rather than his hands (that is one of the newer recommendations for not spreading illness that I learned from my doc a few years ago. I did feel better when after he started coughing he moved himself away from the crowd.

So here are my thoughts, take them or leave them!
1. Definitely come on the trip! You deserve it!
2. Take care when caughing that you cover your mouth, and do all of the precautionary things that are recommended.
3. I can't say for sure, but my guess is that if you are not running a fever, even if they take you aside to check you out, you should be able to board the boat. And show them the inhaler, & meds. I am hoping that will explain it!
4. Don't fight with the crew. If they do take you aside to check you out, cooperate, this is a way of showing them "go ahead and check me out - because I know that I am ok and you are not going to find anything" rather than acting defensive that might make them think that you are hiding something!

I hope that all of this has been helpful! I know that since I have been here at my friends' house, I have not been watching or reading news. I think this has helped me keep all in perspective. Remember that a lot of over-reporting in the news just gets everyone all riled up. There is a fine line between keeping people informed and creating unnecessary panic!

Good luck to you and I am sure that I will see you at the meetup on the Magic!

I'm no doctor, but here is what I read on one website (see below). I'm thinking that fresh (salt) air is going to work wonders. Also, it may not hurt to bring Lysol to spray down your stateroom.

As far as issues in the terminal, perhaps a doctor's note would be beneficial. Even on the ship, a note to the on-board physicians would remove any doubt that your condition is known/explained. Not to raise any more concerns than you probably already have, but the doctors can enforce a room quarantine if they deem someone is contagious; so, for the little I know I think a note certainly can't hurt.

And finally, there is nothing you can do about any looks you may be given by fellow passengers. The current world situation certainly doesn't help matters. I imagine all will be well if you at least make attempts to cover your mouth when you cough, etc.. If people still have issues, then that's THEIR problem.

With the exception of dry climates like out west, try and live close to the ocean. Even being on the cusp, or within twenty to thirty miles of the ocean can yield great health benefits for the allergy sufferer, for the ocean air tends to purify the floating allergens, lessing their irritating effects.

The salt air is known to open one's bronchial passages, and this can help to lessen severe allergy and asthma attacks that involve limited breathing and lung capacity. The salt air also carries moisture, thus breathing in this quality air makes the bronchial system more moist, lessening irritation, and helping to sweep out the bad allergens that irritate nasal and bronchial passages. The ocean air helps to eliminate stuffiness as well.

Thanks. 2009 is turning into the year of hell for me and I just don't have the energy to fight, defend, explain myself, etc too many times. I would be the first person to stay home if I knew it was any other condition. Who can have a good time with a cold or flu anyway. Had to prune a tree outside Sunday and spent hours trying to get it out of my system. I just want a calm happy week and can totally respect other peoples fears. Thanks again for the support.

I myself am an allergy sufferer and we are so used to all the coughing, sneezing etc. in our whole house. I wouldn't worry about the crew saying anything to you and I am sure most people will be understanding and kind. I just hope you feel better. I have lived in NYC and NC for most of my life and my allergies have always been AWFUL since I was a kid, plus I have asthma and have had pneumonia several times due to the asthma/allergy combo with a cold. It is terrible to suffer through that. I did live in Florida for about 3 years and I was never sick and my allergies almost completely went away! Must be something about that beach/ocean air! I bet once you hear that horn blow and get some great food and smell that ocean air, that the pollen dissipates and your allergies improve. And never underestimate the power of a good margarita!:lmao:
I wish you luck and a safe trip! We start our drive from Cary, NC in about 4 hours! I wish all of the Mayniacs a safe trip and I look forward to all of our stress disappearing within 24 hours!:cheer2:
