May 19 - 24, 2014 San Diego to Vancouver

Just want to wish everybody a Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels.

Hi Sarah, This will be our first platinum cruise as well! Looks like we sailed with you before...we were also on the Dream Maiden voyage! It will be just me and my DH Kevin, travelling with another couple, leaving the kiddo's at home!

Sorry we've been a little quiet. I had appendicitis And an appendectomy on Friday. Thankfully it didn't rupture and I was out of the hospital Saturday. As we checked in to the hospital Friday afternoon, the first words out of my mouth were "at least we weren't on a cruise when this happened!" After I was out of surgery and recovering the first thing we looked up was how long I'd have to wait before traveling as we're heading to Aulani on Christmas--luckily we were told I'd only have to wait 5-10 days before I can travel!

Any B2B cruisers (with the Alaska cruise) that have late dining, want to link reservations and sit together at dinner? It's just my husband and I--no kids. We love all things Disney, especially cruising! Also, for those of you that have done B2B before, do you keep the same dining team on the second cruise?

We are late dining and would love to link reservations with you. It is just my husband and I. This is our first B2B so I don't know. A couple on our last cruise did a B2B and they kept the same dining team.
I will PM you with my information.

Linda

Sarah, I can answer your question about B2B and your dining team. You have the option, if you wish to keep the same team, you can, and if you wish to change, you can do that as well. We kept our serving team on our B2B, and it was nice that they already knew us and our preferences.

I am not doing much planning on the cruise until Christmas is over, and I need to share your offer with my group, but if you don't work something else out, I may get back to you after the first of the year. From San Diego to Vancouver it is my SIL and myself and then my DH and nephew are joining us in Vancouver for the Alaska leg. Not sure if that would be of interest to you or not, and we are second seating. You also probably need to know that we are old folks and you might be looking for a younger group. :)

Maybe if there are other B2B'ers interested, we could try to get seated in the same general area. :goodvibes

Wow nothing like a little more holiday stress.

I saw the doctor today and I was given the go ahead for swimming at Aulani ext week!!

I am sure you were thrilled to hear him/her tell you that. Safe travels and please share pictures when you get back. We have yet to visit Aulani, but it is on the list. Have a great trip.

Just stopping by to introduce myself and family! We are taking our 1st Disney Cruise EVER! My oldest son is 18, my daughter will be 10 at the time of sailing and our younger son will be 7. Best part none know about this cruise!
The sail date coincides with my eldest completing his first year of college & my younger children's birthdays (one celebrates the Sat prior & the other celebrates on board) so we are surprising them all! :cool1:

Seems like a lot of little ones sailing ... anyone with teens or "young adults" and/or school aged children?

And since this is our 1st Disney Cruise, can someone let me know what is meant by "formal" ... dress slacks & a button up okay? Or is a suit & tie required? Also how big or little does one dress for Pirate Night?

I apologize if the above has already been asked. I am positive I will have a ton more questions as the date gets closer and closer :lovestruc

P.S. I sent a FB request to join that group as well. Not sure if I need to put that here or not. I am a total NEWBIE at this cruise thing!

Welcome to the cruise!!! DCL has a very relaxed dress code enforcement--it's more of a suggestion. That being said, I'll tell you what we do and you can get others' opinions and make your own decision. Disney will not refuse service to you if you go to the dining room in khakis and a button up shirt or jeans and a tshirt (except Palo as it does have a dress code). For cruise casual nights we wear khakis and polos. For "formal" night my husband will wear his tux and I will wear a dress. Some will do this and some will not. It is entirely up to you! For us, we enjoy the dressing up and getting all fancy for the formal night on the cruise-makes it feel even more special. On pirate night you have people in regular clothes to jack sparrows--it's entirely up to you. We've taken to just wearing pirate tshirts.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas! Stay safe and warm, and have a wonderful time with your families!

Thank you Sarah! I definitely plan to wear a dress as will my daughter. Any excuse to dress up is great in my opinion. My husband was thinking a suit & tie but wasnt sure if that was formal enough. The boys will probably follow my husband's lead.

Welcome, Welcome. How exciting, a surprise cruise

Check the roster on the first page and you see some families with children listed.

And since this is our 1st Disney Cruise, can someone let me know what is meant by "formal" ... dress slacks & a button up okay? Or is a suit & tie required? Also how big or little does one dress for Pirate Night? For formal night, you will see some of everything, a few tuxedos, some suits and some people a lot more casual. My DH does not like to pack a suit-usually wears a long-sleeved shirt and sweater vest. For Pirate night some people go all out, and some don't do anything. Since we are traveling from the East Coast and will be gone for two weeks total, luggage space is precious, so probably no costumes for us.

I apologize if the above has already been asked. I am positive I will have a ton more questions as the date gets closer and closer :lovestruc

Some people post here, some post on FB and some on both. I find it easier to follow along here, but I do post some on the FB page as well-it is just personal preference.

I hope this has helped some. Ask away with any questions you have, there are a lot of experienced DCL cruisers on this sailing. I imagine this board will get a little more active after the first of the year when the holidays are behind us. :goodvibes

I don't think there will be a pirate night on our cruise, right? Aren't thy doing the Pixar pals night instead?
