Am I missing something...I don't see ANY excursions for Funchal (Madeira)
Portugal. Anyone who has been on a TA that had this port - any words of wisdom???

I did the EBTA in 2007, we didn't stop at Funchal, we stopped at Tennerife. I know for Gibralter we are just walking around - so any suggestions would be appreciated. I bookmarked a page earlier about hiring a taxi (love the idea - will be seriously considering it!)

Thanks in advance...Cayla

Port excursions aren't listed yet for any of the European ports in 2013.

Welcome aboard!! It really is a great cruise. :thumbsup2

welcome aboard...you and your DM!!

Thank you so much we're very excited. Wanted to know if there is normally more kids my age (19-20) than normal because it's a longer cruise. Went on a cruise over spring break last year and wasn't allowed in the teen club because I'm no longer a "Disney Teen" and there weren't very many kids my age.

I would expect to see more college-age kids on a spring break cruise than on a 2-week cruise to Europe in late May. From what I've read about previous Transatlantic cruises - there are fewer kids in general.

Not exactly what I was hoping for but I'll make the best of it. :cool1:

I've posted this on facebook so thought it would be only fair to do so here too.

I didn't think there was enough interest in getting shirts to proceed with designing shirts, but was asked about them so worked up the following designs. I still am not sure we would have enough interest to order.

Based on input I have gotten from both sites, I've developed two possible designs for button down shirts for our group. The following designs are a compultation of the parts of the design. The border would be at the bottom of the shirt and would repeat the pattern all around. The image would be on the back of the shirt and larger then seen here. The two-tone would be the base of the material. I can change the colors, text, or overall design.

Yes, correct!

Yes, there's a list on dlrpmagic.com . In June the only blockout date will be the 29th.
unfortunately with the Euro to USD rate - the Dream pass is about 240 right now - the length of stay pass from DVC is 196...one of the blocked days is the second day we would be there...so as appealing as this seems - it doesn't seem to be an option.

Val - I think you should most likely do a survey/poll - I think there may be more interest that you realize...I am able to see the colors better on this website than on FB. I realize that 45 per shirt is a bit out of reach...maybe (like Hawaii) the interest will grow!

Let me get a few more design issues resolved and then I'll see if we want to take a poll. Thanks for your input.

What Cayla is refering to is the fact that the cost of the shirts would be based on the number we order. It would be about $45 a shirt if we order a total of 50 but if the number were to go up to say 150, like then did for the Hawaii cruise, the cost is much less, about $25. Seeing that the tee-shirts on the ship are about $35, not a bad deal.

Did you make sure you were looking at the blockout dates for 2013? June 2012 has 3, but June 2013 only one, which is the 29th! I was looking at the wrong page myself at first, so I can imagine it can be confusing. Also, the Blockout dates only aply for the Fantasy Passport which is cheaper than the Dream Passport. :)

I don't know if you can combine your vacation points on your DVC membership with the hotel discount an annual pass brings, I don't have experience with DVC.

DH & I are interested. I generally don't go on FB, thank you for posting here!

hmm - ok - I will look again. I can't get any discount from DVC on the pass cost, I am not sure that DLP will recognize my DVC discount for purchases either...the cost of the 4 day pass was 196 USD. The cost of the Fantasy pass was about 175USD - the Dream was 240USD. We have some time yet - since we can't book with DVC until 6 months before (Dec)

I love the first and third one!

I am a definite yes. Even if it's $45. DH is a no and when I asked the girls about them they said they won't wear them, so you can assume that my two children won't get them.

Val, thank you so much for all your effort and time.

Count me in for two shirts as well. I think I prefer the third design so far. :goodvibes

Holy moly, there are a lot of posts! Add us to the list as we just booked. We have 5 adults and 1 child (he'll be 4 1/2) on this cruise. One of these days, I'll catch up on everything that has happened. but for right now, we are excited to join y'all!

Welcome aboard!! :wave2: With barely under ten months to go, I bet we see more joining - and we already have several kiddos! :thumbsup2 And yes - lots of posts - but believe it or not, this one has been slower with posts than our last transatlantic cruise. We ended up on part #6 or #7... and each thread had 250 pages! Plus the facebook chit-chat and other message boards that exist - lots of excited folks! ETA - I clicked submit too soon - but with 10 months to go, I bet you will see more and more booking and even more posts going here on DIS! So many excited for EBTA! :)

Hi everyone! DH & I just booked this cruise - so excited!

Originally booked the first Med cruise while onboard the Hawaii cruise. After thinking about the r/t airfare, the fact that it cost more than the cruise, and our budget really didn't allow for days before or after the cruise, we changed to the Panama Canal cruise. Thought some more & realized that we had NO interest in any of the ports & the fact that this cruise would be brutally hot (I don't do heat/humidity all that well), we decided to move to the EBTA. The Hawaii cruise was our first long cruise with DCL (13th overall) and we realized how much we loved the longer cruise & all those sea days.

I would like some opinions please on the airfare. I can book one way Barcelona to Orlando via Miami for $1049 pp on American Airlines & from the way I'm reading their website, they don't charge for the first checked bag on flights from Europe to the U.S. Do you think this is a decent price?

Looking forward to getting to know you all in the coming months.

Debbie & Bruce

Welcome. Did you try getting a quote for a roundtrip? It often is cheaper (don't ask me why). Use any return date, at least one week apart.

Greetings!

Hubby and I just booked this cruise a few minutes ago and we wish it were time to leave! This will be our 2nd TA (first time was westbound on Regent Seven Seas cruise line) - we love sea days and we love DCL! :)

I will message Val to have us added to the list! I have to get caught up on all the messages, but I love the 1st shirt design!

Sue

Thanks for the welcome!

I did check r/t fares & although much cheaper each way, they still total the same as the one way fare.

I'm thinking the $1049 might be the best we'll do for a 1-stop flight with decent times.

Debbie
