May 18, 2013 MAGIC EBTA - Who is with us?

Hi valbob89

I'm quite happy to take on the candyswap.

One thing on the WBTA 2011 which was good was a secret Mickey where participants were given a room to buy a gift for and the recipients stipulate whether it is a gift for all occupants of the room or just some, i.e just children, and give details of what the recipient likes such as princesses, fairies, toy story etc.

Our daughter loved this and thought that they were presents from the fairies. She was really excited every time we went back to our room to see if anything had been left.

Thanks - I've added your name to the list and added the Secret Mickey event. If you send me a PM with info about the candy swap, I'll add it to the first posting.

Val

Can anyone point me to a good explanation of what the whole Fish Extender thing is all about? There must be one here on the Dis somewhere but a search yields way too many links.

If I can get a good one, I'll get it up on our website. I'm sure there's lots of people that don't know much about it.

Chris - I've put a paragraph about what an FE is on the first posting. I found this explaination on the web. Feel free to use any or all of it. If anyone wants to add or think I should correct any of it, let me know.

Hi, I'm Kari and I think I've just about convinced my mom to come on this cruise with me. I actually live in Houston, and ironically will probably be moving to Galveston in the next couple of months!

I'm 34 (will be 35 next May!) and am a nurse. My mom is 59 and also a nurse in the Houston area. I'd be glad to give anyone local info if they need it.

This will be my 5th cruise and 2nd long cruise (we did the 15 night Westbound PC a couple of years ago). I've always wanted to do a transatlantic!

Welcome Kari :)

I have heard back from the shirt company and they can do a shirt with a large image on the back of the shirt. They would not look like Hawaiian shirts but truly cruise specific shirts. So I need to know if there is enough interest to engage them in this and spend more time on possible designs.

These would not be tee shirts but button down shirts.

Were all up for the shirts :thumbsup2

On the wbta last year we did a mixology class and a mojito tasting that was absolutely delicious, there was lots of interest in the mojito class:banana:

I'd be willing to see what I could do about the private tasting (as I am assuming that you are talking about wine or something similar) or even a private Mixology class if there is an interest in that......

We would definitely be interested in shirts! What a great idea :cool1:

We'd be interested in shirts - I am assuming they can do a child's size? If not, OK, but would they be available?

Thanks - added your name to the list. If you send me a PM with info to post on page one, I'll update that info. Also, if you need any contact at DCL to get a tasting scheduled, let me know.

Done - any questions, don't hesitate to catch me here or a PM - we'll be out of country in about a week and a half, but we'll be back by the end of July, so if I don't respond right away, no worries!

A couple of other things to add to your ever growing list:rotfl:, we also had someone organising linked dining for those that want to sit with other diser's, it meant we were on the same rotation and were all seated quite close to each other, funny times especially when we had theme nights like mickey mouse club night when we all wore mickeymouse club and ears and villains night when we were all in purple and masks.

Group palo brunch was also a great hit, I think we had about 5 groups of diser's doing palo brunch together, we had a great time at ours, good food and great company.

The boys loved the pub crawl too, that was well very well attended:banana:

And the PJ Breakfast. I will be happy to organize that. We had about 80 on our list on WBTA 2011. It is on a sea day near the beginning of the cruise at 9AM at Lumiere's. Photo at 8:45 out front. I would tentatively plan it the very first sea day -- before all the brunches and Princess Teas get rolling. So May 19? And for those who did all the traveling, it is nice to roll out of bed in PJ's and join 75 others wearing the same attire! (just throw on flip flops!) :rotfl:

They will make the shirts in kids sizes. However, they have to have at least 10 orders of one size to accept it. On the Hawaii cruise we didn't have many kids onboard, less then 200, and we couldn't get 10 of one size.

I've added these 5 items to the list. Can we put you down to organize any of them?

I added you as an organizer with Tink1987, perhaps the two of you could work together.

If anyone wants to organize one of these activities let us know. Or if we can put you down to help with an activity.

I would be interested in heading up the Postcard Exchange (although I have no idea what that is - lol). I could probably head up the Room Tour too, again no experience but willing to give it a try. I don't know how to sign up so please just put my name down for these two things. Lynn

Yay!!! Another Ontarioan!!!
Where exactly are you from? We should get together before hand so we'll have a "pal" on the boat as I am technically gonna be pretty single.... as the kids will be mainly living in the kids clubs! :)
We're actually in Etobicoke. Loks like we'll fly out of Buffalo on the 17th... and get a hotel the night before... you are more than welcome to join us if you want some company :)

I just booked this today although I have been dreaming of doing it for a very long time. It's just me this time. My family has cruised before with DCL and CCL but my DD and DH are just not that into Disney (shocking I know!) and besides they can't take that much time from work or school. I have never cruised solo before but I am pretty friendly so I think I will be okay :goodvibes

This is my gift for completing university  :cheer2: (well I will be done by next April). This might be my second or third career but I think I have it right this time. The only reason I wouldn't be on the cruise would be if the date of my convocation is during the cruise. I really want to be there for that!

I am from Ontario Canada (near Toronto). I see there is someone else from TO also.

There is a lot of reading for me to catch up on. I booked an inside cabin but its not been assigned yet. I don't care where they put me as long as I am on a Disney cruise ship :woohoo:

Thanks - I'll put you down. I've organized both so I'll be happy to tell you what I did, what worked and what didn't. Then you can do what works for you. Here is what I posted when I organized them. Again, you do what works for you.

The Postcard exchange was easy to organize. You create, update and post of list of who is participating and their cabin #s. The idea is that people buy postcards of their area/country/town/city etc. and deliver a postcard to each person on the list. They don't need to be written on or anything but I'm sure people would like to have something on there to let them know who it was from. If people do want to write a little note on theirs about their country or town then that’s OK too. Some people elect to make their own postcard using photos they have taken. Others printed local recipes on a card. It is great fun to come back to your cabin and find mail.

The room crawl or room tour was fun. How it works: Cruisers volunteer to let others visit their cabin and see what the different categories are like. So, on a sea day, at an established time, (final time set after other event times are published) starting on the lowest deck, we visit the different categories of cabins. It is great fun to parade down the halls meeting each other and getting a real look at those rooms we all take only a quick peek into as we pass an open door. Additionally, it allows us to share cabin living ideas.
In an attempt to manage the length of the tour and allow those opening their cabins to visit the other rooms, we are going to assign a scheduled time when each deck will be visited. Here is the breakdown of the number of rooms currently on each deck and time we will allocate on the deck. Once we hear from DCL regarding the tastings and other events scheduled we will select a time and date for the tour, most likely around 3:00 a sea day. In addition to posting the information hear, (if I hear from DCL before we all leave) I will have the room schedule and tour times available in my FE outside room 6572.

That would be good -- I've been on vacation the past two weeks so I completely missed seeing that. (sorry!) I organized it for the PJ breakfast for our 2011 WBTA, and having two of us would be helpful because if we get the run-around onboard like I got last time, having two of us to contact everyone in the group would be VERY helpful versus just one of us.

Is that okay with you, Tink1987? (It isn't something we can do ahead of time - we have to do it once onboard because they would not reserve a restaurant for us. Instead, we get a portion of a restaurant that is open for normal breakfast. We can make tentative plans, and then if something falls through, we notify everyone. I spoke with the restaurant manager and guest services once onboard to get it arranged since we could not do so ahead of time when contacting DCL.)

I asked on our Facebook page too but does anyone know where we can view navigators from the last EBTA? Can't find them...

I have my navigators from last year if anyone is interested. I can scan them, not sure how to post them on here but I could email to you. Keep in mind there are 14 of them and 4 pages each but I don't mind, if I figure out how to do it. LOL Hannah is already saving $1 bills for room service tips, she loves getting a PBJ each day after swimming while we're all getting ready for dinner.

Did Heather scan them in? This was from an older post I found when searching...
