Welcome to all the newcomers :-)

Just had to do a quick catch up, haven't been on here for 2 weeks as I have had a nasty chest infection. Still got it now but feeling much better then I did!

Couldn't agree more about the RT airfare. We are thinking of doing the same, however we have to get a flight home from Barcelona as well so not sure if we should? Although, I think as long as we don't book with the same airline as we do to get to Texas we should be a-OK!

Loving the logo Valbob :-D
Glad your feeling better

Hi, we just reserved this cruise which will be our 3rd TA. We were on the inaugural (the rolling ship cruise), and in 2009. We love long cruises with many days at sea. We are also going to Hawaii this year for the inaugural in April.

Cheers,
dennisgirl (Jennifer)
cathlabdude (Dennis)

Jennifer and Dennis, Nice to see a familiar name. Look forward to planning this cruise with you.

Hi Jennifer and Dennis! Can I ask what the "rolling ship cruise" means? Sounds like an interesting trip.

Val, I'm sorry would you please change dennisgirl and cathlabdude to JenDen. I took the idea from you, it makes more sense to me to have a name that goes along with our name.
Thanks, Jennifer

Sorry about this but I need to get th the 10 posts so I can PM folks.

dennisgirl is now JenDen

On the first TA, east bound, we had several days when the ship rocked so bad that the water in the pools constantly splashed out. The captain (Tom?), couldn't go around it. It lasted 4 or 5 days. Evidently, that was the the most fun any of the ships has ever had. There are several video's on youtube.

good times,

JenDen (Jennifer)

We have bought RT and one-way tickets to Barcelona. It has depended on which was less expensive. First time it was RT, second was one-way.

Almost have 10 posts, Jennifer

technically challenged here. not good on disboards. fb easier for me.
EBTA and WBTA 2011 .. willl do WBTA too when they add it.

I noticed many 19 year old daughters are on roll call!!!! what fun that can be!!! I was surprised on EBTA last year how many university age kids were aboard. so so so looking forward to coming again.

Hi Sonja! I didn't realize you were sailing again too. Yes, you are right there were several college age kids on board. We also met quite a few DWorld cast members on break on the cruise all university kids as well. Glad to hear you're joining us!

Hi, Jennifer (JenDen)! Good to see you again! Looks like you've been busy. I had so much fun on our last EBTA (2010) I decided to go again. I'm bringing my DD and DGD this time. I hope they don't have any snow days and are out of school by then.

Hi Linda!

I'm so glad to be sailing with you again.:boat: I'ts so cool that your DD and DGD are sailing too!
Dennis loves this cruise. Sea days are his thing.
We are going to Hawaii this April. Another long, sea day filled cruise.

Are you cruising this year?

Jennifer

Hey, Jennifer! I love the sea days, too! I wish I could afford to go to Hawaii. It's just too expensive for my blood. Besides, my DD says I can't go without her. And if she goes, so does my DGD.

We're trying Carnival this May. I had DCL's Fantasy booked but it was a little bit too expensive right now even though I booked it a long time ago. So, we're going on Carnival's Dream out of Port Canaveral. We're also going to WDW afterward for 2 days. We've never been there yet. Hope this old body can take it!

Hi everyone we are booked to go on this fantastic cruise as well. We are Curt and Mel from Saskatchewan canada. Our biggest problem right now is finding reasonable airfare. What have some of you cruisers done? Any advice would be great! Look forward to seeing everyone on board!

Welcome SonjaLeigh, Mboekhoff and Perdy1234. I've updated the spreadsheet so please check it and post any corrections or additions you wish to have me make.

JenDen, have updated your info too.

Had a rough few weeks. Dh's entire department at work is closing-- so we had a scramble for any available job and fortunately it worked out, but a very painful pay cut. :headache: So this will mean way more saving to make this trip happen.

And I'm also interested in hearing tips for low fares. When dd and I did the TA in 2010, I think we paid about $500 (US) from Amsterdam to Philadelphia-- but it was a horrible flight on Iceland Air with two connections, slow deplaning, lost baggage, etc.

I only ran Goofy one time in 2010. I'm planning on running it again next year for the 20th marathon. But if I have to pick only one trip it will be the transatlantic. You can run anytime, I don't, but you can.

I love that last line! :rotfl: DH & I will both be there marathon weekend. He's running the full (maybe the Goofy) and I'll be doing the half.

Sorry to hear about the pay cut.

Sorry to hear about this. Aer Lingus has flights from barcelona to New York that are often quite lower than other airlines. Keep them in mind when you start looking.
