May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

Got our reservation changed to the June 16, 2014 Alaskan sailing :cool1:

But I'm the one who started the meet thread for the eastern Caribbean that we moved to do the Alaskan :headache:. I need to find someone on that thread to take it over and start a new one. I feel rotten about that. I really wasn't thinking when I started it and now I vow to never start a meet thread again :rolleyes1 I think I'll let them know that if nobody else wants to do it that I'll happily keep up with it. It sorta sucks also as it seems like a great group of folks and I was looking forward to the cruise. Oh well, if I have to have problems, these are the kind I like.

You will love Alaska!! It's still one of my favorite cruises ever.

Yay, glad you got it changed to what you wanted. Don't worry about the thread - I am sure people will understand :)

My friend Vicki and I booked the west island tour with Daniel Madiera Taxis, and we have room for 4 more people.

Our most common west side itinerary has the duration of about 6.5 hours and is as follows:

Camara de Lobos - a small and quaint fishing town.
Cabo Girao - the lookout on top of the highest sea cliff in Europe.
Ribeira Brava - a seaside village
Encumeada - mountain where you can see both coasts, south and north
Sao Vicente - lovely seaside village on the north coast
Seixal - interesting lava formations by the sea
Porto Moniz - famous for the natural pools
Santa - to have an overall look down to Porto Moniz
Paul da Serra - the plateau, this area is very different from the other parts of the island
Ponta do Sol - another seaside village

Price will be 30€ per person for 6 people. Lunch is extra.

If you are interested in joining us, please send me a PM. :)

LOVED the Alaskan!! It was my husbands choice but I did enjoy it.
I hate the cold, but when I look at pictures from there, it just looks amazing!

If you don't get Disney insurance, who do you use? I usually go thru Insuremytrip but this cruise is a little farther and longer with nothing in between, lol. I wanted to check to see what others use.
I got it from my TA. They got Travel Insured for us, which is also available from www.insuremytrip.com.

Don't feel bad, they will be happy for you!

We did Alaska last June. This wonderful psychiatry group did CMEs during sea days and after excursions in two ports so it was a work trip for me! And those psychiatrists are so clever - it was super expensive for one person...and my companion sailed for free! (and the boys and my parents came too)

I know I've already said it, but Alaska is truly phenomenal. Ill try to post the video of the glacier calving if I can figure out how to get it from DH's FB. I never thought I'd appreciate it - I hate being cold. But wow. Just...WOW.
I hope you figure out how to do the video! And how fun that your work chose such a great trip!

They were awesome. Nobody has responded to what I wrote on our thread, but on the FB page one of the gals said she'd take over for me. They are shaping up to be a really great group. There were going to be a ton of twins on that one!

Aww that's a shame if they sounded like a good group, I'm sure your Alaskan group will be just as cool :)

Sorry, had to come on here and have a moan. I'm so annoyed that DCL have priced the EBTA and WBTA much lower then we have paid this year and the fact that EBTA is going from PC. The WBTA next year looks fantastic. I know I keep saying it doesn't fit in with our dates but now I'm kinda not even excited about our cruise. Wish we had left it till next year and done a Baltics with Princess this year now!! :(

:rolleyes1
Hi all
I have a request. As I already mentioned, I was able to book the EBTA for 2014 as we had to cancel our trip with all you magical folks :headache:
But I have a favor to ask... would someone mind grabbing me the Navigators for each day from Guest services and mailing them to me when you all get back. :flower3: I know its a lot to ask but thought someone could just slide them into the front pocket of a suitcase maybe.
I will pay for the postage, In fact I can mail you a pre-addressed envelope and some $
Sorry if its inconvenient but it would be sooooo greatly appreciated.

I can understand why your a little miffed Colette, really surprised at the prices on the wbta 2014 especially considering the ports.

Maybe you will love DCL so much you will want to do the wbta and save the baltics for the another year, we already have a very active Dis thread

I will collect Navigators for you :)

I always bring a folder with me to keep them flat in, as I like to keep them to look back on :goodvibes:

had a bit of a scare tonight - had an email from BA *CANCELLING* our flight home from Barcelona! We booked this last July and got a good deal with 2 cases up to 32kg EACH so I was panicking - thankfully we could rebook another flight for 35 mins earlier - phewwww panic over!

As much as I like the prices of the 2014 Transatlantics, I will have finally done a long, relatively inexpensive cruise on DCL, and can move on to itineraries I like better. Had my Baltic cruise on Royal Caribbean worked out for this summer, I wouldn't be on this cruise.

oh my...that happened to us also. JetBlue didn't get the bid for the 9pm flight from JFK to Hobby - they canceled the flight (after we used rewards to get it!) and offered to move us to a flight that landed at 2pm on Saturday...wasn't going to work. We had to eat the cost of another flight on Southwest/AirTran PLUS a rental car to get to Phili...sigh.

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :cool1:

Have a great cruise!

I hope so. This group is pretty damn cool, so I think I'll be ok :hyper:

I for one am glad you have to be on our cruise :hippie:

:scared1: So relieved it worked out!

Totally agree on WBTA 2014 pricing. I was surprised. I didn't have real plans on booking, but then after looking at the ports, and price, could not pass it up. Plus it's like a reunion cruise from our 2011 group.

We almost booked when we saw the 11C rate, just incase my friend's wedding didn't happen.....but by the time we discussed it more, there weren't any 11C left so we thought it wasn't meant to be.

Good thing I am working overtime this week (and missing V-day) I need to pay for my cruise habit!

I'll PM you. Don't worry about the postage, I'll cover it :)

It's official!! We're paid in full! We STILL don't know if we are moving but since we decided not to do Paris after I wanted to snag the airfare from Barcelona with DCL. We are doing one night post stay in Barcelona. I can do the rent a princess deal. I also would like to be added to the fish extender please. I will be joining the Facebook group as well! I know we could have waited and the price might have went down but I talked myself out of this cruise 2 years ago because of cruise line diasasters. Between that, the possible move and the chance of skyrocketing airfare we pulled the trigger. I booked it on our Alaskan last year but pushed final payment off hoping to find something out. We are going to tell our little girl this weekend but I planted the seed tonight about being on Mickey's boat for 14 days to which she excitedly said....THAT WOULD BE OFF THE HOOK! LOL 3 more days until we can book our Palo and excursions.

I still need to get trip insurance. Looking at CSA custom luxe right now.

Does anyone know what rotations there are for dining? Did anyone bother requesting before like on 7 day cruises? I don't know which nights to skip and do Palo. We LOVE Palo and hope to do it more then 1 brunch and 1 dinner.

I am so relieved to have this decided.
