May 18, 2013 Fantasy 7 Night Eastern!

is anyone planning Kennedy Space Center post cruise? Last time we had free tix, but our travel partners started whineing a half hour into it, so we left early. We are going to attempt a do over this time.

Our plan is to do two days after the cruise at one of the resort parks, for us the first stop is Guest Relations and we get the Special Access passes which makes it a lot eaiser to see what we want (passes are good for up to 6 "family members", and each boy gets one, anyone want to be family with us those days?)

Currently debating the wisdom of driving to Florida. From Montana.

Glad you decieded to fly, you would be so pooped after the drive and then to have to drive back. :crazy2:

Can someone tell me what a "Fish Extender" is??? First time cruiser here!

I think you got the idea by now, best summed up as "not to be missed!"

We are so excited about our first Disney cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary. We are looking forward to participating in FE and meeting other Disney lovers! We'd love to hear any tips and advice that will help make our cruise extra special.

Congratulations on the upcoming Silver Anniversery! Ask away on the questions!

Hey everyone! Me and my fiance are going to be on this cruise for our honeymoon, we are going to be getting married next year in May, this will be our first Disney Cruise and we are super excited to finally be able to do this. :hyper:

Congratuations too! If the crusies had been around when I got married, I would have loved to do it too! Make sure you go to the adult late show the night they do "match your mate", you might win a couples day in the Spa!

That's a good idea! I love a good party, my daughters bday is on the 17th and I think we will be riding the rails on Thomas the Tank Engine on the 18th. :cool2:

Woo Hoo, love train fans. Have to show you photos of my train (or come to Los Angeles and you can ride it!)

Hi everyone!
Just thought I would come check this forum out! I am a wife and momma to three kiddos (8, 4, and 18 Mths). I am also a full time student and will be graduating May 11, 2013 with a degree in Early Childhood Education! So....I chose for my graduation gift (actually my whole family's graduation gift, since they have been so supportive of me throughout this process) to be a Diney Cruise! It looks like the best time for us to go is going to be May 18th and we are super excited! We are just ironing out the details and hope to book within the next couple of weeks! This will be our very first cruise!

Ok, I am impressed, wife, mom, student, & trying to study for finals just before a great vacation! Good time management skills!

Hi everyone,

I'm Keith, and My fiancee and I are booked on this Cruise for our Honeymoon! I heard about the FB page from the Passporters Boards, and heard about this thread from the FB page. I figured I'd pop in here and say hello for anyone who's not a FB user. so, Hello!!!

This will be our first cruise and we're so very excited! We've got some Cruise planning books and have things all planned out for at least what we think we'll want to do. I bet those plans will change lots of times in the next year. For one I know we're planning to eat at Palo, and we're looking to get some time in at the Couples' Spa. Other than that I think it's a bit of relaxin' a bit of fun, and a bit of everything else!

Any relation to the other person getting married in the quote above? You will love Palo!

What about a west coast cruise? Would that save a little?

The west coast cruises are great too! (ok, I am biased as I do live in the Los Angeles area :thumbsup2)

Does anyone have any ideas or preferences on where to have our meet-up? The general consensus seems to be a 3pm time slot. As for location, what are some ideas?

Im kind of torn on this. On the one hand, embarkation day, it would fit into our plan perfectly right before the muster drill. On the other, first full day is a sea day, and would offer more options. The problem I see (for myself) with the sea day, is I am likely to forget about it.

I am late to party on this discussion and didn't find any others posts on this topic with my very limited search (only 2 pages) but I don't think the meet up should happen on the first day. The first day is always so hectic. Kids are wound up from traveling and are dying to get into the pool and you are still lugging your carry-on bags around and etc.

I think a meet up on the second day would draw a large crowd. One man's opinion.

My preference is for sail away day 3pm only to confirm any changes to cabins for the FE list (someone always gets an upgrade or moves at the last minute) My guys love the sea days and look forward to them. We also use them to deliver the FE gifts usually. Either way, I am good with what the group comes up with.

I inadvertently posted under my wife's account. The above post expresses my beliefs do not necessarily reflect her views and opinions.

Keith, spoken like a good husband! Let me get you into the Lost Beer Boys group and meet for a brew!

Hi
The family and I finally made the decision and booked our very first cruise.
May 18 can't come quick enough but we will probably use all that time researching good ideas on these boards.(we still have travel, hotel, excursions etc to figure out) The boards have been amazingly helpful getting us this far.
DS(4) loves the FE idea, both choosing things to bring and give as well as getting surprises.

I like that a lot of the guys are posting on this thread! Your DS will love all the magic that come in the FE's. I usually take an empty rolling duffel to take all our FE treasures home.

Keep in mind, if your FE includes alcohol...

ok, it's official, I like a group that gives alcholol as an FE gift!! :rotfl2: Woo Hoo, bring me more!

Ok, first random question...if you have early dining, do you get tickets to the late show only? Are there actually assigned tickets, or can you skip the dining rotation dinner, grab an informal dinner, and go to the early show? I'm not sure the kids could always stay awake for the late show after a day out in the sun.

No assigned tickets and you do not have to eat in the dining rooms. Assuming the fantasy is set up like the Magic and Wonder, there is a pizzaria, hot dog/hamburger stand, and a buffet line you can eat at. Most kids are wide awake for the shows as the shows rival anything you will find on Broadway in NYC.

Crowds are not that bad in May, but go before the cruise, because after will be Memorial day weekend. :)

We are doing the parks after the cruise as mentioned above and if it works better for anyone else that would like to join us, just contact me via PM to be added to our "family" The access passes are like having a Fast Pass to everything. Disney is very good with their ADA policies.

Just to let everyone know..... This cruise has a great Facebook page going! We chat about the cruise, port adventures, airfare, etc. It has been a nice place to chit chat and learn things about the cruise that new cruisers may not know about! If anyone wants to join just look up Fantasy ship 5/18/2013 and request to join and you can join in the excitement that we are all feeling!

Have a good day all!

Yes Facebook, No Facebook, Facebook disbanded, Facebook reinstated. Is there a FB group or not? I will try to look it up, but my own expectation is to find all the FE/group info here.

Welcome! I will absolutely add you to the FE list! It should be updated sometime later tonight (headed into work now) and will PM you for more info! Again, welcome!

Thank you for your warm welcome Naomi. Based on my past experiences, I would not expect the FE list to be final until about 45 days out. It seems like you have the FE list well under control, so if you desire any assistance or back up, please feel free to ask me (I am an accounting person and excel geek). If a 2nd FE group needs to be started (not expecting to as my largest FE group was 101 cabins for the first TA) I can set that group up. Looking forward to cruising with everyone!

Then someone else comes along and says:

"We are going too!"

We are Steve, Joey (28 with a skill range of 4-8), and Danny (26 with a skill range of 7-15, yes, both autistic). We are definately in on the FE list, and will help with Lanyards if we are doing them. We will be down in the bowles of the ship in Cabin #2048 and this will be our first sailing on the Fantasy (our others have on the Magic & Wonder) We are early dinner and welcome any other DISboarder that is daring enough to want to join us at our table. Look forward to getting to know everyone soon and will try to check in as often as I can (obviously usually late at night after the guys are asleep because if they knew we were going again, I would not hear the end of it until the day of the flight out!):crazy2:

Hi and welcome! There is a Facebook page, ALL are welcome, and it has nothing to do with FE organizing! If you like fb pages I have also found one called FISH EXTENDER DISNEY CRUISE, and another called Disney May 2013, all of which chat about our upcoming adventure! The cruise fb is called Fantasy ship 5/18/2013, so feel free to join in the chit chat! :yay:

Thank you for this btw! :coffee:

So has anyone developed a door magnet graphic yet for our sailing? How about a discussion of possibly doing name tags and/or lanyards? Just checking so I don't cover track already laid.

I Personally dont want to participate in lanyards, it just seems like one more "thing" to worry about, and the majority of suppliers have a minimum order of 100. As for the name tag graphic, at one point GoofyCrazy (Melissa) had offered to make one, but as far as I am aware, it hasnt been discussed beyond "hey, ill do it."

Im sure there are other cruisers interested! I would go on the Facebook page and announce what you want to get started and see how everyone responds? There are a lot of first time cruisers and therefore we don't get a lanyard, so maybe you would get alot of response over there? The DIS board doesn't seem to be too active, so maybe you would get a better response on fb!

Can someone please explain these character meets? Is it lining up to actually get a photo with a character? Are these crazy zoos, or do you seriously stand a chance of getting your photo taken? I've read somewhere that characters are "in costume" for 30 minutes tops, so you line up and they could potentially disappear by the time you reach the front of the line? I'd hate to even put my kids into a situation where they could potentially be so disappointed...

The "friends" of the characters are pretty darn good at stopping the line from forming beyond the certain limited time frame. The opportunities for meet and greets are significantly increased on a 7 nighter than they are on a 3/4 night. Also, get to the location specified in the navigator early, so you are in the beginning of the line. Many times, characters come out of nowhere, and interact with passengers one on one.....good luck.

I cant believe I forgot to post the 8 month mark! Oops? Closer and closer!
:surfweb:

Hello everyone, my family will be coming on the May 18th cruise with you. This will be our 4th cruise but our first on the fantasy. Friends of ours will be coming as well.

We look forward to meeting each of you on board.

You will probably see my DW (dance teacher) on here at some point.

Welcome to the sailing! :cool1:

If you like Facebook, we have a very active facebook page going! Just search for Fantasy ship 5/18/2013 We chit chat about different things related to our Disney cruise, planning, sharing excitement, etc... Come join in the fun! :clown:
The facebook page is not an FE planning page, if you want to do the FE you need to let Naomi know you want to join.

Just chimming in on the Lanyard discussion...we just did the Final 5 day Canada Cruise (which was wonderful) and they did the Lanyard which hung in our room the whole time. I liked the magnets that some did..it's always fun to have something to put on your door on the cruise and then your fridge at home!!!

So from the sound of everything so far, lanyards are out, but we need to come up with a magnet graphic or two or three for our cruise.

Side note, lanyards are available almost everywere. We spent $3 each at Spencers in the mall, and had Smurfs, Scooby, Wonder Woman, Pac-Man and Fraggles.
