~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
I know what you mean Sonya. Being a retired athlete...UGH! It's hard to get back on the horse once you fall off.
Believe me.....speed skating RUINED my body cause I couldn't keep up with the physical demands after I retired...
I'm with you and totally jealous of Kathy's Legs! haha
OK JorDan, now you AND Sonya are my new BFFs ! I better keep up my nightly elliptical training so I don't let you down! ~ Kathy
It's too late to make any Palo reservation so I think I might try to make the mad dash on board to get something. It'll be worth a shot at least.
I saw earlier today that there's still one left at 6:00 on Wed, which is exactly when we have ours scheduled for. If that's not a good time for you, then RBD upon boarding is your best bet! I hope you get what you want!! :goodvibes
BTW, There was a guy on my last cruise meet 2 years ago that was put on Palo's "list" so whenever there was a cancellation, they would offer it to him. I think he ate there more than the regular restaurants!
I have another HORRIBLE receipe you would love. But I don't want to ruin your diet. It's for homemade Oreos cookies. TO DIE FOR!!!
I WANT IT, TOO!!!!! :yay:
I notice no one answered my question so I am guess no one knew the answer :confused3 :goodvibes but I am going to ask it again, just in case. We are planning on bringing our own bottle of champagne and was wondering if we would be allowed to bring the open bottle to palo. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks for the help.
I read somewhere that you were allowed to bring an unopened bottle of wine/champagne with you but then they charge you an "opening fee" of like $15. Must have been in one of my travel guides.
I'd call Disney and confirm that this is the policy, though.
Ok here it is!!!
Homemade Oreo Cookies
Cookies:
2 boxes of Devils Food Cake
4 large Eggs
1 1/2 cup Butter Shortening
(Batter will be greasy looking)
Bake at 350 degrees for 9 mins (or until tops crack) on an ungreased cookie sheet. They are better if they are SOFT so don't over bake.
Cool completely
Cream:
8 oz. plain Cream Cheese
1/2 cup butter (soft not melted)
3 1/2 cups Powered Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
ENJOY!!!! I can eat ALL of them in one sitting...and now I have to resist making them. haha
Oh my!! Those look sooooo good! Not sure if I should thank you for that! :rotfl:
Thanks for the information and you are right, we read the same thing too. But we were cruious if we could bring our own bottled that we opened in the room to not pay for the opening fee.
Wow :scared1: Those look soooooo good!!!
For those of you who ordered Land's End -- did you get a bathing suit? Did it fit pretty true to size? How about the water shoes? Did you go down 1/2 size like it said? I am going to place an order today and going to try again for the suit and thinking may get some water shoes but nervous about getting the size right (again)....
Thanks in advance! Off to the office today. Talk to you guys later!!!!!
I ordered true to size and things were too big! (Interestingly enough, their measurement chart said I needed a size bigger!) I just got my smaller swimsuits, rashguards, cover-ups, and flip-flops today (as well as 4 new white coats for work)!:banana: I already have their water shoes, so I'm good to go! BTW Hope you start feeling better!
I notice no one answered my question so I am guess no one knew the answer :confused3 :goodvibes but I am going to ask it again, just in case. We are planning on bringing our own bottle of champagne and was wondering if we would be allowed to bring the open bottle to palo. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks for the help.
I don't think there is a "real" answer to this. Technically, if the bottle is in Palo it's subject to the corkage fee (even if they don't serve it). I believe this fee is $20 at Palo. Whether or not you get charged will be subject to your waiter...
Oh no!! We had our FE exchange deadline yesterday!!!
We had to make a cutoff date because people were ordering stuff.
I know I made a few extras...so I can spare a gift for at least 5 extra cabins.
What does everyone else think????? :confused:
I can handle a few extras as long as I know... We just need to have a final number by Saturday as I intend to finish my gifts then!
Welcome to al of our new members!
BTW We got our FE today!!! I'll try to get a photo of it sometime over the weekend. It is a little smaller than I had expected, but it'll be fine!
Lynsey - The cut off date is today, but I'll still be collecting info (especially cabin numbers) but I'll continue to send updated spreadsheets to everyone. Thanks for adding this info to your "Navigators" it will make it much easier for everyone to keep track of everything. Plus since we'll be in WDW just prior to the cruise you'll be able to have the most up to date info. We are taking a computer with us (and we get free internet) so I'll be able to update the spreadsheet till Friday the 15th.
Cinda - We got our Land's End order this week too! Thanks JorDan for the free shipping code!! We love our rash guard shirts and I LOVE my beach treaker shoes. I think I'm going to take back the water shoes to Costco. I like them, but I don't NEED them if I keep the LE ones.
Yes, I'll be able to update our mini-navigator until up to the week of the cruise although I will probably print them on the Wed or Thurs before the cruise; however, I am planning on have a notes section in our nav so we can room room changes, additional meet info, etc.
I received my Lands End mary jane water shoes on Saturday but they were HUGE, I even ordered them a size smaller just like they said. So I've sent them back and reordered a whole size smaller than what I should "technically" need. I hope they fit when they come in this time. So if any of you are thinking or ordering the water shoes I'd recommend a size smaller (at least).
Hey I guess I missed out on all this planning! We have a pretty large group of us on this cruise (5 rooms).
Wow there are soo many of you! Glad too see you on our cruise forum.
I have been trying to start a work out routine, alternating between pilates one day and cardio on the elliptical machine the next day.
Well believe it or not I actually work out alot! (You wouldn't believe it when you look at my pics). I say that at least I'm "heart healthy". Here's my weekly workout routine:
Sunday- 20 minutes cardio with 45-60 minutes of weights
Monday- 60 minutes elliptical or stepper
Tuesday- 30 minutes cardio with 45 minute Zumba class
Wednesday- 60 minute kickboxing class
Thurdsday- 30 minutes cardio with 45 minute Zumba class
Friday- 60 minutes elliptical or stepper
Saturday- 60 minute Zumba class
Hello everyone! We'll also be joining you on this cruise.
Welcome to you all too! I think we're a pretty friendly group and that you'll catch up in no time!
That would be great! Thanks Dave
Looks like I caught them in time and we should be good to go!
ALL -
:banana:The Price is going to run $1.15 each!!! :banana:If you guys want to do paypal, that's fine.
Email me at Tink113 (at) aol.com if you need an paypal invoice or you want my address to mail a check.
Make sure you put you DIS name on check, in the email title, and on the paypal notes so i note the correct people who have paid. For our "way out of towners" :rotfl:, soyna, Austin, et all .... on the boat is fine.
i hope to get the proof soon & when i do, I'll share.
Oh no, Mati!! Get that nap in to get yourself feeling better!! :goodvibes
Thanks Val! I am feeling better. Slept for 2 hours this afternoon. Hopefully just a short bug and I'll be A-OK for Vegas on Saturday.
I will answer your question properly now! Speaking as a former exercise instructor (I know, I know, who has slipped badly so don'tl isten to me anyway!!) pilates and cardio and both excellent, but if you have time add some strength / weight training in as well - muscle burns fat so the more muscle you have, the more calories your body will burn (and so more key lime pies on a stick can be devoured!!!!)......
More of me to love! YES! I will explain to Tony this is a good thing, and therefore we should definitely bake tonight . . .!!!!! Feel better soon XXX:hug:
Sonya -- I have a ton of muscle but unfortunately -- still have all the fat surrounding it :rotfl:. No seriously -- my trainer called me a "Powerhouse" on Monday while we were doing the circuits -- I was thinking ummm....do you really think a gal wants to be called a Powerhouse? hmmmmm....I would much rather go for dainty or delicate or petite but alas, I am just not a petite type of girl!
Yoni has the nice lean Finnish build. He has always said "Now how sexy are two bony people together -- seriously. Someone needs some curves!". Gotta love the man! :love:
Thanks. I'm sure my DD (Chelsea) will be very happy to know that there is another 4 yr. old there to play with even before we board. She'll help Kai and tell him all about cruising. She's quite the little chatterbox.
GREAT! Kai will love having a friend.
We are planning on bringing our own bottle of champagne and was wondering if we would be allowed to bring the open bottle to palo. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks for the help.
Love this idea but sounds like you still have to pay. We have been debating this too -- does it make sense to bring the wine on board if we can only really drink it in our room. Hmmm.....decisions decisions.
Our DGD Abigail, also 4,will be with us. I sure she will meet Chelsea. We sometimes call her gabby Abby because she never stops talking.
Abby & Chelsea -- great! Kai's daycare class is full of boys -- will be interesting to see if he bonds with girls on this trip!
I just wanted to say that I would like to participate in the FE's that the group is doing. What are the details? How many small gifts do I need?
As JorDan said, the cutoff was April 1 but I am ok with it since I haven't made a thing yet and won't until after Easter. Jane has the list so assuming everyone else can manage. I do think there are a few who were done so if they chime in, that might help! Would love to have you participate!
I know what you mean Sonya. Being a retired athlete...UGH! It's hard to get back on the horse once you fall off.
I'm with you and totally jealous of Kathy's Legs! haha
Me THREE!!! I have lifted weights all of my life and have SOLID tree trunks, errr, mean legs. Ah -- to only have legs like Kathy's!!!! :laughing:
Ok here it is!!!
Homemade Oreo Cookies
Oh my -- somehow I don't think making these will help me get smaller.....they look amazing!
I ordered true to size and things were too big! (Interestingly enough, their measurement chart said I needed a size bigger!)
Thanks Cinda! Am taking your # with me to Vegas just in case I need it. Will probably order 1 size smaller (totally get you on those size charts, they have me at 2 completely different sizes). I guess I will order the shoes 1 size smaller too.....
BTW We got our FE today!!! I'll try to get a photo of it sometime over the weekend. It is a little smaller than I had expected, but it'll be fine!
Ok -- am I going to be the LAST person to get theirs? Hopefully it will arrive soon -- getting kind of anxious!
I received my Lands End mary jane water shoes on Saturday but they were HUGE, I even ordered them a size smaller just like they said. So I've sent them back and reordered a whole size smaller than what I should "technically" need. I hope they fit when they come in this time. So if any of you are thinking or ordering the water shoes I'd recommend a size smaller (at least).
Lynsey, good to know. I will order mine a size 9 (normally a 9 1/2) and hope that works.
Well believe it or not I actually work out alot! (You wouldn't believe it when you look at my pics). I say that at least I'm "heart healthy".
Honey -- you can tell from your pics -- you are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Your workout schedule makes me tired. I can barely squeeze in 3-4 workouts a week and that is in between dropping the kids at school and work. I need to hook up with you on the boat to make sure I get at least a few workouts in!
:banana:The Price is going to run $1.15 each!!! :banana:If you guys want to do paypal, that's fine.
Amanda -- thanks again. Sent you an email!!!
Ok -- so this week has been ok with MIL here. Yoni got his THIRD speeding ticket in 18 months so needless to say -- that put a huge damper on his mood (not to mention mine since I told him to slow down literally seconds before he got pulled over -- but ummmm, don't mention that please to him, will just make him grumpier! ;)).
We leave for LV on Saturday for 2 nights (3 days) and get home late Monday. The kids will stay with my sister and we won't take a laptop (at least that isn't the plan) so.....am going to go into withdrawal without the DIS boards!
Kym, Jamie -- Sabrina will write Faith & Jalen back but is a bit slow right now with Mummi (Grandma in Finnish) here. Normally we work on emails right before bed but she is spending that time with her Grandma. Tammy -- she is still going to write to Carissa and actually talks about her too since I have mentioned her so many times. Hopefully we can catch up after Easter. Apologize to the little ones from us please.
Our plans in Cozumel are still evolving. We (ok, really I) have looked into the dolphin swim and really want to give that a shot but Yoni is now thinking -- let's not do a thing in Coz except lounge on the boat. Hmmmm...of course that had me thinking, if he just wants to hang on the boat, maybe I can take the cooking class after all! :lmao: I think he will change his mind once we get closer to the date. Love the idea of Nachi Cocum (which we would lose our deposit on btw) BUT have this nightmare that Kai will be asking us every 5 minutes "Is it time to go" after he gets bored with the beach (which for him, will probably happen in less than an hour). Sadly, that takes away from my fantasy of laying on the beach sipping fruity concoctions and reading a book. We shall see!!!
Off to bed. Sadly, the two hour nap did nothing for my exhaustion.
Has anyone heard from Belinda? I keep meaning to text her. Maybe I will do that now. Kind of worried since she normally pops in on a regulary basis!!!
Have a good evening everyone!!!!:cloud9:
Hello everyone! We'll also be joining you on this cruise. I'm so excited. It's a pretty last minute extention of a DVC trip that we already have planned the week before, May 10 - 16 staying at BWV. My DH thinks I'm a bit crazy, but is totally onboard. My DD thinks I'm the best Mom ever :laughing:.
Welcome to our group
It's our first stay at BWV. It's our home resort but our first time staying there. We only bought our BWV contract last March. I'm excited.
We belong to the DVC as well. The last time we were at WDW we stayed at the BWV. It was great to be so close to Epcot (and the bakery on the boardwalk for breakfast was REALLY convenient). My only suggestion would be to ask for a room close to the elevators. The hallways in that place are LONG and it could take you 5 minutes to walk to your room after you get off the elevator.
Hi Shawan! I try to work out at least 3 times a week in a TEAM class at Lifetime but it doesn't always work out. I would love to lose weight before the cruise but am not going to beat myself up if I don't. The way I see it -- there is more of me to love! At least that is what I tell Yoni! :rotfl: [/QYOTE] Hope you are feeling better!
I've just recently started to be good about excercizing and have hit the gym three times a week. I'm lucky if I get in 30 min on the eliptical and then 20 min of weight machines. Not a lot has been happening in shrinking anything, but I'm going to keep working on it till the cruise...
With MIL here missed both T/W of AI :scared1:. They should be recorded so hoping to catch up today and will look for the new infamous F-bomb! Thanks Val!
I'm sure they cleaned it up by the time I saw it on West Coast time.
Grey's Anatomy - Loved that episode! If I were getting a face transplant you guys would come visit me right?
Amanda -- I'll have Jim send the payment. Thanks again for doing all the legwork on this.
the 5/15 shuttle has been rescheduled.
DANG - hopefully the launch on the 12th will get delayed a couple of days.
I just wanted to say that I would like to participate in the FE's that the group is doing. What are the details? How many small gifts do I need?
I was also wondering what people were putting on their door magnets? I've never made them before but really want to do them for this cruise, especially if I am going to participate in the FE's. Is there an "offical" name for this cruise that I could put on the magnet?
Thanks!
Since the responses that I've seen seem to be ok with it, I'll add your cabin to the list. With this last add we now have a total of:
Total Cabins: 36
Total # of People: 107
Men: 38
Women: 40
Girls (under 18) 13
Boys (under 18)
Regarding the magnets - Lucyddr created a logo but I don't remember which page it might be on. Have you checked out the magnet thread on the main cruise board? There are a lot of people that are willing to create (or edit ones) for you. I've copied a lot of them and hopefully I'll get working on them this weekend.
Holy Moly!!! I'm tired just reading about all that excercise.
Since I've added Kim to the FE group. I'll send an update tonight.
OK,OK, Mati you are officially in my BFF club with Sonya and JorDan :) :) :). Brian just rolled his eyes when I read him this post :). I have always told him that DISers are the best :)!! ~ Kathy
You can walk around with your glasses on the ship too just not in the Palo or the other ones.
Check this out!! Looks like I need to make a trip to DQ!
http://www.dairyqueen.com/us-en/eats-and-treats/blizzard-of-the-month/
Ok - I really need to get out more. I checked out the website (MAN that looks good) did the DQ locator and found out that there is a DQ/Orange Julius at our local mall. I SWEAR it wasn't there the last time I cruised through. Ok, to be honest, I probably just swooped past it as I really don't normally have time to cruise. I'm going to have to make a trip down there this weekend and get me a Blizzard of the Month!!!!
Not going to do my diet any good. Maybe one of the kids will share it with me. So I don't eat the whole thing myself.
Has anyone heard from Belinda? I keep meaning to text her. Maybe I will do that now. Kind of worried since she normally pops in on a regulary basis!!!
I'm worried, too... :worried: Belinda, please check in with us!! Mati, if you hear anything from her, please let us know.
You know we would!! :goodvibes
